Not long ago we caught the cover for issue #12 of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN by artist Jerome Opena and on it we saw a fallen Avengers team, seemingly defeated by the bearer of the Phoenix Force. Thing is, we never knew the identity of the bearer because the image appeared solely as a white silhouette of the character -- until now. The latest cover reveals Cyclops on the cover of the issue and a fallen Avengers team strewn on the ground beneath him.
Now, we know that he is currently a part of the Phoenix Five and that there are presently two of them left standing -- Scott and Emma Frost. So does this mean that Emma will be the next to fall and will Scott become the new bearer of the Phoenix Force? Will he succeed in taking down the Avengers? What about Nova?
== TEASER ==Aside from what we see here in the teaser, we should not that Cyclops is supposedly appearing in UNCANNY AVENGERS starting this fall with the launch of Marvel NOW!? The image that appeared in the Diamond solicits is very telling of what might happen in the conclusion of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN and it certainly leaves us with a lot of unanswered questions. What will this mean for Cyclops? What will it mean for the Avengers? Will they be able to forgive Scott Summers and put him on their team, or is the Marvel NOW! teaser that shows him teaming up with Wolverine, Captain America and Rocket Raccoon not really revealing as much as we think?
