Is A Sequel To Wolverine Already In The Works?

It seems that Simon Beaufoy may have been approached about writing the script.

We are all waiting for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."  I think, for the most part, it looks pretty solid.  I've mentioned before that I don't feel it's necessary to include so many other mutants in what is supposed to be a movie about just Wolverine.  Other mutants may be tied to his past but it feels like some relationships (like Cyclops, Emma Frost, etc) are being forced into the movie.

AintItCool received a message from someone working the Bradford International Film Festival in the UK.  Apparently, Simon Beaufoy, the screenwriter of Slumdog Millionaire was brought on to write the script for "Wolverine 2."  He said he was hesitant and didn't even "know what a Wolverine was."  It seems his agent talked him into it.

We're not sure if this is true yet.  If a sequel was already being planned, that could be good news.  Maybe FOX just feels this movie is guaranteed to do well, meaning we're going to happy with it.  On the other hand, I don't know how I feel about Beaufoy writing the script.  I haven not seen "Slumdog Millionaire" but the fact that he wasn't familiar with the character worries me.
