The compendiums are your best bet for cost-effective and legal way to read the entire series, Amazon sells Compendium One for $30 and Compendium Two for $38 (the cover prices are like $60 each). Also, once you start... it goes by QUICK.

I don't care about 10 covers because I won't buy them, so more power to those who do.

BUT.... if they really wanted to celebrate 10 years... wouldn't a double or triple sized issue w/ some guest artist pin-ups of key moments, and maybe a timeline restrospect and some other 'goodies', be a LOT better?

Just in case, to any brand new reader I would recommend picking up the very first trade (as it will introduce the main protagonist Rick Grimes and many of his fellow companions who are still around aka Team Grimes), plus the trade volume #17 "Something to Fear" (collecting 97-102) that introduces Negan and The Saviors; and maybe the Michonne Special (because she's awesome and the special tells her origin somehow).

#115 will start a new arc and (according to Kirkman) era of rebuilding civilization (it wouldn't really be the first try) but you may need to get to know about some characters first -- basically the major players of Team Grimes and The Saviors. If you have watched the TV-series you might be familiar with most of the characters already (they're not that different) but The Saviors.

Anyhow, if you're short on money the disadvantage of the new arc is that it's going to be bi-weekly from Oct-Dec.

Maybe third cover will be Carl getting his eye shot out? Just my guess.

Seems like the same thing that kinda went around with the hundredth issue coming out. I like it, and I'm definitely psyched for "All out War"! Lets see...I started reading back in 2009 getting trades and absolutely LOVED the ride so far! Truth be told though, I wish Tony Moore was still doing the interiors. I loved the way he did the first arc. Adlard is fine but Moore just did so much better for me.

@watcherg6: 9 of the 10 images in that montage aren't the actual covers. In the article above, it says that Skybound/Image will be revealing one cover a day for the next couple of weeks.

Better late than never. It's never too late.

The good thing about TWD is it's available in many different formats collecting 6 (trade), 12 (hc), 24 (omnibus), 48 (compendium) issues; and if you really don't like b/w comics then wait until October when Image will release the first issue in full color for the first time.

The only complaint I have is that when there's no main cover, I feel like I have to buy them all. =p

Why do people bitch about covers they don't have to buy. Who cares if it's got 10 covers grab the ones you want however many or none at all there is no gun to your head.

Surely no ones going to pick them ALL up??

Carl getting shot in the face has to be one of these! I'd also guess Lori getting killed and Maggie and Glenn getting married.

I really like that each cover will feature an iconic moment from each year.

I don't read Walking Dead but I'll probably pick a variant up in the hopes it'll be worth something, at least someday.

Great another million variants to boost sales. Im normally fine with 2 or 3 variants, 5 max but when you get more than that for a single issue its ridiculous. This is just like that Uncanny Avengers 1 and Walking Dead 100 BS.
