Hot Toys to Make Groot & Rocket Raccoon Figures

If you loved how these two characters looked in the recent Guardians of the Galaxy film, prepare to open your wallets!

Over at Sideshow Collectibles, Hot Toys announced figures based off of Groot and Rocket Raccoon from the recent Guardians of the Galaxy film in the ultimate "shut up and take my money" move of the week. While these 1/6th scale figures are both sold separately, you can buy them together on the Sideshow Collectibles site.

Sideshow Collectibles and Hot Toys are excited to present the special Rocket and Groot Sixth Scale Figure Set which includes the gun-toting raccoon and his personal houseplant/muscle.

The movie-accurate Rocket Collectible Figure is specially crafted based on his unique physique in the film. It features a finely sculpted head and body, specially tailored costume, weapon, and specially designed figure stand.

The movie-accurate Groot Collectible Figure features a highly detailed head and body with amazing paint application to reflect his distinctive appearance, and a specially designed figure stand.

These figures are set to ship in March of 2015. On their own, Groot will cost you $199 and Rocket will run $159. As a bundle, you can get both figures for $359. While there's no discount, the set does come with an additional angry expression face and partially clenched hands for Groot. Groot is 15.3 inches tall and Rocket is 6.3 inches tall. @danhimself: good job on picking the worst first pic google comes up with.

@i_dont_like_comics: Still wouldn't call that "just as good". There's a lot more detail in the Hot Toys version, plus a few extras if you get them together.

@idontlikebirds: meh, tastes i suppose. but you can get the whole crew plus some baddies and still have a lot of money left over if you go the hasbro way. just saying.

you're right that's much better than the one that looks like it was lifted straight from the movie

@danhimself: whatever, man. burn away all your money. i'm spending wisely.

Rocket is $150 but I saw it in person at the Con and its the size of a regular action figure. So I didn't pre-order it.

If Groot had a happy face, I could maybe get my fiancée to agree to this. Groot is the "if I get something from Sideshow, it'll be this" character because wow. The Hasbro ones might do until I suddenly, inexplicably become rich

That was one of my favorite parts of the movie. "I... Am... GROOOOOOOT!"

i notice with the hasbro figures or anything really the prototype looks tons better than what they release in stores. but there isn't even a comparison, what makes them just as good, or "better" ? paint app? articulations? scale?

Eh, too expensive.

@xwraith: @bumpyboo: Ah, see. BooBear would buy it for me. Because she's a real friend. :P

@ostyo: I would if I could afford it. Thought counts, right? O_O

the difference that a lot of people don't get is that Hasbro is making toys for kids to play with...Hot Toys is making display pieces that no one in their right mind would let a child play with

Well yes, I wouldn't mind getting a hot toys figure. need some more $$

but I was pretty much wondering why he said the hasbro ones are just as good if not better. I want to know what he considers better. Maybe it is i don't own either.

My mom want's the potted groot. Yes I saw the movie with my mom it was 30 degrees celsius and my home has no A.C. Says a lot about the movie that my mom liked it.

Oh man... My bank account is going to hate me, but I've got to have them!!!

Look at it this way: They're not out until at least March, so putting aside 50 bucks a month is enough to afford them.
