Here Comes Prelude To Deadpool Corps #1

Who is Wanda Wilson?

You knew it was coming. Another Deadpool series is invading the shelves at your local comic shop. Next week it will be here. Prelude To Deadpool Corps #1 will be on sale March 3. How much Deadpool is enough? We already have Deadpool, Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth and Deadpool Team-Up. This five issue mini-series adds one more to the mix.

I have to admit that I do like the Zombie Deadpool Head. He makes an interesting sidekick. The others, I'm not so sure. What is this "Prelude" mini about?

Witness the birth of the most important super hero team ever in a universe-spanning event that will rock the month of March! Wade Wilson has been tapped to save the Universe, and to do that he's going to need help. Enter: The sexy-but-insecure Lady Deadpool! The devious-but-lovable Headpool (a.k.a. the Zombie Deadpool Head)! The bratty-but-brilliant Kidpool! And the irascible mutt known as Dogpool! Individually, they're, well, kind of messed up, but together, they're the unstoppable force know as DPC.

From the look of the preview below, it appears the first issue could be focusing on just Lady Deadpool. Perhaps each issue will focus on one member with the final issue having all members together. Could that mean we'd get an entire issue with just Zombie Deadpool or Dogpool?

I know Deadpool has his share of fans but it seems lately I'm hearing more about people getting tired of him. It makes sense that if a character is popular he would be used as much as possible. Is there any concern that by overusing the character you're only getting short-term benefits? By saturating the market with Deadpool, there will come a point sooner rather than later when Deadpool comics won't sell and he'll have to hide in the shadows of comic book obscurity.

Where do you stand with Deadpool? How long have you been a fan? Has your fondness of the character dwindled with each appearance he makes week after week? Here's the preview of the first issue of Prelude To Deadpool Corps #1. It's written by Victor Gischler and drawn by Rob Liefeld.

Deadpool today is like Ghost Rider in the 90's. Everybody loved Ghost Rider but people loved him so much that he grew and grew and now you pretty much can't find anything with Ghost Rider anymore. The same thing will happen to Deadpool. If you ask me, he only deserves one ongoing series and that's the one with Daniel Way.

it looksd good

i think they may be trying to stretch to far.  I love deadpool and his inner thoughts but im not sure you can make that work for 5 (or is it six) different deadpools in one issue.  ima read it before i give it a pass fail but right now im not too hyped for this.

action looks great but i dont like the idea of how it is only focused on 1 character - they really should spread things out evenly.

i'm sure lady deadpool isnt the only character in this issue but i still wanna see some other "deadpool-related things" in this issue!!

The more I look at it, the more hilarious it looks. I don't understand how her hair can be so... swingy?

But really, enough with the Deadpool. I get why people like him, but now they're just unashamedly milking the character.

I enjoy a good Deadpool story every now and then. Daniel Way's on-going is pretty good, and whenever Joe Kelly gets his hands on him the character's a blast, but I do think he's suffering from over-exposure, which is just going to hurt him in the end. Though, I might be willing to give him a pass on this series because the idea sounds kind of funny, but maybe marvel should of just contained it to his on-going rather then adding another series.

Oh, I´m looking forward to this series. I really think this could be entertaining.

No more Deadpool!!!!!
I'm sick and tired of him....

Anyone who is sick of Deadpool should just stop complaining and do what you do when a movie comes on or a song comes on that you don't like,  just turn it off, or in this case don't read it.  Stop the bitching.  I would have liked to see the book called Deadpool Society.

Say what you will about Leifield.... He has a very recognisible art style. It takes about half a second identify! It's like Eric Clapton's guitar tone... you just know who it is!

Liefeld?! Stupid plot?! COMING BACK TO THE 90-S?!! NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo...!

This looks cool, I wonder what Dogpool looks like though, or what his superpowers are regarding the fact that he's a dog.

Epic fail.

Looks boring and typical wish writers would do something good with Deadpool

I've been a Deadpool fan since the early 90s when he was a character in New Mutants/X-Force and I was just starting to really follow comics.

He's been my favorite Marvel character since about midway through his solo ongoing title under Joe Kelly (about 1999). I was happy to see him gaining some popularity and stepping out of the shadows as merely a "cult character" these last two years or so. However, I really would prefer he just has his main series under Daniel Way, with occasional crossovers and cameos. One solid series is all we need, plus Wade showing up where he doesn't belong, stirring things up (like he did in Dark Reign). I wouldn't mind Team-up if it was written a bit better, but Merc With A Mouth is superfluous, just as Deadpool Corps looks to be.

i think dog pool should be from earth-8311universe (the one with spider ham)

I totally agree.

Yes, very much so. I've already dropped Merc with a Mouth. I won't be getting this series either. He used to be my favorite character. I think Captain America has replaced him, though.

I'm not gonna last very long on this anti-Deadpool crusade of mine, but I'll try. Hehe.

Deadpool= New Wolverine

Honestly Deadpool isnt that interesting of a character to have so many series.

What about Major Deadpool?

Edited by JaYDaFuRy

i agree he should stick to just one series instead of many, SK was cool, Merc with the mouth okay, but this sounds dumb......
he is my favorite hero in mu but i dont liek him everywhere.....
Posted by JaYDaFuRy

i would want him to have just one ongoing seriers as spiderman does with the gauntlet right now.

lose the ponytail and she is win in my books

I wish they would quit dumbing him down and leaving him with only his humor. They leave out the story and his skills so much you forget how good his. I love Deadpool, been into him since I was a kid, but they need to get back to his roots. But in the long run I don't see this over exposure having any negative effects to be honest.

Current Deadpool is somewhat of a disappointment. I liked the direction he was going in with Nicieza's Cable & Deadpool. It was nice to see him as a real character, instead of a sideshow brought in for comedy. He was conflicted, and he grew as a character. Now he just kills people and cracks bad jokes. And yes, it's somewhat funny, but it's also shallow. No one actually goes anywhere with him as a person. I don't care if he wasn't popular 2 and 3 years ago, the quality was much higher.

DP is funny and all...
But he's waaaaaaaaaaaaay too overexposed at this point.

read this today, and i want to give credit where its due.

first off, my negatives. this issue was read alot like an expanded version
of the Lady Deadpool portion of MWAM #7 . except in MWAM Lady DP and the
other dopplegangers we're a little more interesting because character wise
they werent exactly Deadpool himself. She was here however, literally read as
Deadpool with boobs and a ponytail. right up until she runs into Wade himself,
then her personality seems to switch back. these things made the reading sort of
boring. not sure whether to keep reading this or not.

the pros: outside the above, the writing was pretty solid, and the dialogue was
good. but the real credit here goes to Rob. He's definatly upped his game. His
pacing in telling the story with his art and his action scenes where fantastic. clear
and concise, and never static. didnt let me down for a second. theres alot of hard work
being put into these, and in just a short time frame, and it definatly shows. the cover art
looked funny at first as well, until reading and seeing the massive interlocking monster
it becomes. hats off to them for those things.

overall great art, great pacing, great action, and i mean the kind alot of other comics could take a cue
from. but characterizations were very flat in this, and their wasnt really anyhting funny ever happening
(which is what some people want so okay). Robs bodies werent off, or at least no more than any other
comic ever is. currently i rank this above Team-Up, and will give the second issue a shot to see where
it goes. though realistically there is too many Pool books, just from an economic standpoint. they could
have run this in MWAM (but they may have another thing happening there, i dunno) or just replaced Team-Up which for most of the issue has been grabage, and im pretty sure isnt going to survive in the sales department long enough to keep it afloat anyways.
