Before we get to anything, I want to pool the Comic Vine community’s collective consciousness to figure out this image to the right - - because its mysteries are maddening! It’s a promo for the Sackperson skins Marvel’s releasing for Sony's LITTLE BIG PLANET. They’re saying that there will be 20 individual characters and I’ve been able to figure about who most of the silhouettes belong to - - Captain America, Daredevil, Doctor Octopus, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, Human Torch, Magneto, Rogue, Spider-Man, Storm, Punisher, Thor, Wolverine and (possibly) Venom. However, that still leaves Elektra, Green Goblin, Hulk, Mystique, Thing and Invisible Woman (who might just be hiding in plain sight) and I can’t, for the life me, figure out which silhouettes they correspond to. For my peace of mind, help me out here!
Anyway, like I said, these are all skins for LITTLE BIG PLANET - - that open-source game that’s exclusive to the PS3. Basically, the game lets you control a cutesy burlap zipper doll called a “sackperson” through numerous physics-smashing platforming adventures. What’s made the game especially notable is the amount of customization it allows, letting players pick their own skins, design their own levels, build their own objects and then share them with others online. This “communal creativity” option has been such a hit, that supposedly a fan created-level pops up on the PlayStation Network every 21 seconds. == TEASER ==
There have also been a number of officially sanctioned character and level kits, with previous licenses coming from PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and METAL GEAR SOLID. But why settle for pirates and spies when you can have superheroes too? Marvel’s releasing a level kit including the 20 skins listed above which allows you to pit all these characters against Magneto in four pro-designed levels. Aside from the teaser, they’ve only released pictures of Iron Man and the Thing, so far. But you can expect more and more of these Chibi-style heroes to role out every day.
