Have you seen the Watchmen trailer?

I know there's a lot of debate over whether this movie should be made and will it be any good.  When I first saw some of the costumes, I thought they looked a little cheesey for the big screen.  Some characters just don't translate well in the "real world."

I watched the trailer last night before The Dark Knight.  I didn't want to see it first on my computer.  It may be sacrilege for me to say so but I've never been a huge Watchmen fan.  Some people are fanatics about it.  I didn't read it when it first came out.  Everyone kept telling me "You have to read this!"  I did.  It was good.  I liked it.  I could appreciate what it was trying to get across.  It worked.  But I haven't gone back to read it again.  Maybe I should.

I didn't have a lot invested personally in this movie.  Yes I want it to be good.  I hate seeing a great concept turned to garbage.  Watching the trailer (again, it's better on the big screen), I'm a little more excited.  Despite how some of the characters have to look (they did capture the look of them from the comics), you can clearly see other scenes directly from the pages.  That was cool.

You probably know that creator Alan Moore has always been very outspoken about adaptions to his work.  He simply doesn't want anything to do with them or to ever see them.  It's unfortunate that they are adapted in that sense.  For more on what Moore thinks, check out a recent interview at EW.com

I increasingly fear that nothing good can come of almost any adaptation, and obviously that's sweeping. There are a couple of adaptations that are perhaps as good or better than the original work. But the vast majority of them are pointless.
