This could turn out to be really great. My only worry is that it might try to be too funny. I don't know how I'll deal with constant banter and one-liners throughout the whole entire film.

"Waaaah there are too many trailers"

I think this is one of the best movies in terms of promoting and trailers. They hyped the movies up, shown some good shots, introduced the characters but didn't give any of the plot away.

I have watched all of the trailers and clips, but I don't feel spoiled at all.

Alright, I need to say something: Judging by these trailers alone, Marvel has made a serious mistake. Too much comedy. I'm sure no one has a problem with one or two snappy quips or lines of banter, but these seem constant. I remember hearing that all of Star-Lord's jokes and references will be 80s themes.

1. What the hell do you mean all? How many jokes and references does he need?

2. Oh wow, 80s jokes. Because things that happened 30 years are just as relevant.

This is an action film, right? Sell it as one. Too many jokes ruined Thor 2 and depending upon your viewpoint, Iron Man 3.

@herokiller12344: Its a movie that features a space raccoon and a talking tree as main characters. If they try to take it too seriously general audiences won't see it. Aside from that what's wrong with a funny super hero movie, we don't need all of them to be grim and gritty.

@herokiller12344: Thor 2 barley had any jokes...unless I was paying attention they had some...but not alot I thought alot of the humor was subtle....

Thought Thor 2 was a good film.

Love it. For those whining about it being too much of a comedy gtfo. It has a f@cking talking Raccoon and a talking tree in it for Christ sakes. Smh. Not everything has to be dark and grim to be good. Marvel is raking in the cash by the millions I doubt advice from a few clowns complaining about too much comedy is going to raise any eyebrows over at Marvel.

I can't wait for this. They can put all of the comedy they want in it, as long as it makes me laugh. Comedy and laughing is entertaining, the point of films, and comics, is entertainment.

I can't wait for this movie! Been looking forward to it for a very long time. My only concern is Drax (Dave Bautista). I hope the acting isn't too bad with him.

Then you must have skipped most of the movie...I was cringing every 2 min.

Oh...and that last part of the film....awful...

I felt Thor 2 had potential but in the end I think it might have been one of my least favourite Marvel films. That's not on Chris Hemsworth or Tom Hiddleston, either - that's down to the script.

And Iron Man 3 was alright, but not a favourite of mine. And even Downey isn't as bad from my memory as what it seems we might be getting from this movie.

@lone_wolf_and_cub: Okay, no one is demanding that this film be grim and gritty. You can't use that as a crutch to beat detractors with.

There's more than just comedy film and grim/gritty drama.

The comedy was pretty well placed here. Actually reminds me of the comics. Oh, and the voice modular for Drax. Loving it. Affleck take note on how Batman should sound.

The thing with Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 is that they tried to be really serious the whole way through... so when the humor came in it felt awkward and out of place.

Iron Man 3 = Oh look! The head of the Roxxon Corporation just got his head blown of- oh look Tony Stark just got hit by a truck! HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!! THIS IS A KIDS FILM!!!!!

Thor 2 = OH LOOK! Thor's Mum (who was introduced in the last 5 seconds so we would actually give a damn about her) just died! How sa- OH LOOK! BACK TO THOSE TWO WACKY INTERNS! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

Both those films didn't know what they wanted to be. Serious or funny? With Guardians they seem to be going a more... comedic approach with it. Look at the first trailers to IM3 and Thor 2. Both were really serious! GOTG's first trailer made me laugh out loud several times!

I know a long time has passed since I saw it in the theaters...but the only thing I remember from it are horrible jokes and Kat Dennings making most of them...

it was not subtle humor....it just wasn't...

Well, they still get along better than anyone in the comics since the first Crisis.

Am I the only one a little creeped out by watching Groot eat himself?

@herokiller12344: I don't need a crutch. If you don't like it don't watch it. It's that simple. I can't wait for it and I love that it's not taking itself too seriously. We'll see what happens when it opens to judge properly. I have faith in what Marvel is doing people like you are in the minority when it comes to detractors.

It would be considered grooming for him since it grows back. Like getting rid of his hair, but it just so happens he can turn his own hair into nutrition. Still eating himself I guess, but if you think of it as grooming it's not so bad.

Also this is something that NEEDS a lot of trailers. The Guardians aren't even that well known among most comic fans in general so never mind general audiences knowing who they are.

Marvel's got to make sure people LIKE these characters before the movie comes out so they'll wanna go see it.
