Gremlins Have Invaded My Home!!

So I get home from my "day job" the other day and find a package on my doorstep.  Reading the label, I notice it's from Dark Horse.  I think, "Cool."  I bring it into my office and open it.  Inside is the hardcover book "The Gremlins" that Dark Horse reprinted from the original Walt Disney book written by Roald Dahl.  You know who he is, right?  He's the dude that wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factore, James and the Giant Peach, etc.  The book is pretty cool.  You can get it at www.tfaw.com .  Dahl wrote the book when he was a Royal Air Force flight lieutenant.

Lil' G-Girl saw the book and asked me to read some of it to her.  So we left my office and went to read the book.  This ain't no short little kids book.  There are lots of words.  There's also lots of pictures.  A combination of really nice black and white and glorious color in the tradition of Disney classics.  In case you're not familiar, I guess the story goes that The Gremlins was supposed to be a movie by Disney.  They just had a hard time trying to figure out how they would market a movie about little creatures bent on destroying the Air Force's planes.   Walt Disney loved the idea.  The book was made from illustrations by the Disney artists to promote the movie.  It was published in 1943 and only 5000 copies were made.

After reading the book to my daughter, I returned to my office.  I was puzzled when I found the box knocked off my desk with the packing "popcorn" spilling out.  To my shock and amazement, I found little colorful creatures running around my desk, wrecking havoc.  Now my office isn't the tidiest place to begin with (ask G-Woman).  These little critters were all over the place.  The clincher was when they started messing around my laptop.  With the help of my dog and cat, I was finally able to chase them all out into the garage.  I was left to clean up the mess they left.

Even though they made a mess, they were cute little guys.  To make things better, I found they left me a yummy cookie.  Guess there was a happy ending after all.

In order to find out more about the Gremlins (to protect your home from Chaos), pick up the comic that came out last week.  It's a three issue mini-series that continues into modern times.  Find out what the Gremlins have been up to since WWI.  Dark Horse has also produced other Gremlin products that can also be found at www.tfaw.com .  There's the comic, hardcover, statues, pvc figures along with vinyl figures.  Don't miss out.
