Gondry And Rogen Find Their "Kato"

Looks like the "Green Hornet" may actually happen

Jay Chou as
Jay Chou as "Kato"?

Whether you want to or not, it looks like Michel Gondry and Seth Rogen are dead set on making a " Green Hornet" movie. If you thought that losing actor Stephen Chow would put a permanent halt to the production of the film, then clearly based on the report from Slash Film, you are sorely mistaken. It seems that Taiwanese actor Jay Chou (Curse of the Golden Flower) will be taking over the role of Kato. The film's director Michel Gondry seems very excited about casting the actor in the upcoming film.

“Jay is incredibly unique and charming and fights like a wild dog! When I filmed him next to Seth, they had such great chemistry, and I knew the movie will be great.”

It seems that Chou is aware he will be filling very big shoes, being that he will be taking over for Bruce Lee's major role.

“It’s an overwhelming experience to take on a role made famous by Bruce Lee. I won’t try to be Bruce Lee’s Kato – I will try to bring my own interpretation to the part. Of course, it’s a dream role, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

It's nice to hear that Chou understands that Bruce Lee was one of a kind. I am curious to see what exactly Chou's interpretation of the character will be as well as what kind of direction we will see the film taking. What are your thoughts? Still hesitant about the upcoming movie?

I did a little bit of research, and I am under the impression Jay Chou is a Taiwanese pop star. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's even got his own music video.
