Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato Leave THE FLASH for other DC Title

Wow, this is sad. The Flash books always been on one of my top reading lists. The more Barry learns about how the speed-force works and his high priorities to try to keep the city safe, the more problems he's gained such as Grodd and his invaders in Central City, the Rogues, Iris and the others still trapped in the speed force, Dr. Elias, which all happened at once. I always wondered whether these talented writers had to rush this event for Barry overcome these obstacles, but instead, everything flowed quite smoothly.

I will follow these writers and their journey to their new book next year. I'm excited!

This is bad news, I've been buying Flash every month recently, its the one DC title I always buy. But, Green Lantern has being going ok post Geoff Johns, so maybe it isn't the end of the world!

I find this title, as written by Manupal and Buccelato very entertaining. My one complaint is that much of what was done in this title, as well as other titles I am also enjoying, such as Aquaman, could not have been done pre-Flashpoint. As good as the writing is on some of these New 52 titles, I am still quite disappointed by the loss of so much potential for future arcs in pre-Flashpoint continuity. I once tried to make a list of my top ten pre-Flashpoint plot points or whatever I would have liked to see explored further and it quickly turned into the top twelve, then the top twenty, and so on and so forth.

It would be cool if they were working on a red robin series

They need to bring them back, especially if Shazam gets his own animated show. It would be comedic gold to see the 'ugly' Dr. Sivana with his hot wife Venus.

I hope their new DC series is going be Shazam! Brian and Francis will make Shazam awesome like they did with The Flash.

Thats how I feel. For me, Flash is a hard character to keep my attention, but these guys did it on a monthly basis.

Here's hoping this new title will be just as brilliant and thank you, Francis and Brian, for one of the best runs in comic books this era.

why you makka me sad

It's sad news to hear that Manapul and Brian are departing the title. Their artwork is breathtaking and I hear their writing has been decent. I wish them well on their next DC project and I'm glad they departed on their own terms.

Well that's sad to hear. These two are a shining light in the storytelling darkness that is DC comics. They've done such great work on the Flash, my favorite character, and I'm nervous about who will fill the spot. I'm eager to see what they'll be working on next though.

And I'm also glad to see that Christos Gage will be writing an issue.

It'd be cool if they're the team who does the Black Lightning/ Blue Devil series. That's supposed to come out next year, I think

The new writer is Christos Gage.
He is an extremely talented writer. And for his first issue on Flash he is gonna put him in the sky, that would be an extiting issue :-P

Signed up just to comment how sad i am that they're leaving. this is one of the few DC titles i actually enjoy.

QFT. I found myself unable to keep following Flash since the dialogue was so lackluster and the arcs always had such awkward endings. I'll probably give the new team a try.

Their new book is probably Shazam, they've said several times they're really interested in a Shazam title and since their next title is a new title.....

am I the only one happy to hear this? I dropped the Flash for the first time in almost 30 years because I couldn't handle the sketchy, cartoonish art, or the awful revamps of the Rogues

I must admit, at first I found some parts of the run a bit too rushed (no somehow-pun intended), for a beginning of a reboot, but overall I really enjoyed it. Bummer.

I think I'll give the new team a chance anway.

I will miss them big time on the art side of things, but story wise the book has been swinging back and forth between good and mediocre, most of the time. At least for my taste. I am excited to see which new book they are going to end up with, though! Both seem to be very nice guys and I hope they get a cool ongoing.

Yup, the fall/winter shuffling is happening at DC already with this in the make. Geoff Johns leaving Aquaman at issue 25, and now Booch and Manapul leaving Flash at 25 too. Sad days ahead I say :/

I will be sad when Francis and Brian leave The Flash. I will follow both of them where ever they go. I am sad that it has come to this.

Although I am happy the Jeff Parker is going to be doing Aquaman. I am a fan of his writing though I totally ignored Red She Hulk as she is just a bland character. His one shots for Masters of the Universe we cool.

By the way, this is my nerd rage at an all time low as i am partially tired after 15 hours of work today. so yeah.

@jointron33: Captain Marvel Fan: No no no no no no no nO NO NOOOOO!!!!!! The evil mad scientist who was the first ever villain Captain Marvel has ever faced. He was ugly for the hell of it and his looks were based off those of CC Beck's local pharmacist! He even had his own little Sivana family going on as well! Geoff have you ever read a Captain Marvel comic book in your life? Do you even know who and what Mr. Mind is and did? Do you even know Black Adam wasn't popularized until DC started to use him more so therefore Sivana is his true arch enemy? Do you even know the Lieutenants? Do you even know that Captain Marvel Jr. has black hair? Do you even know that the look of CMJ was influential even to the point where Elvis Presley based his appearance on him so therefore his looks shouldn't have changed? Have you even read a Wikipedia/Comic Vine/ or fan site page for information about Captain Marvel? Can you truly write a Captain Marvel comic book?

Perfect reason why I don NOTsubscribe to comics.

Read a few issues and thought they had a good thing going there, but considering all the titles I get I couldn't get that one regularly. Sad to see them go but interested in the who the new team might be. Johns probably has enough on his plate, but is there any reason to think he might return? Flash is his favorite afterall.

sad for the news :( but looking forward to see were this duo go.

Here's hoping their new series is something crazy, like a Wally series or Barry/Hal team-up.
