1987's Predator is a classic sci-fi action movie. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, the story about an alien hunter spawned a sequel and then had two crossovers with the Alien franchise. The deadly race of aliens then received another solo movie, Predators, but now it looks like the studio wants to begin all over again and they have their eyes on Iron Man 3's director Shane Black. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black is attached to write the treatment and direct the reboot. Fred Dekker, whose writing credits include The Monster Squad and Robocop 3, will handle the script. The site adds that Black will oversee the writing and the two previously worked together on The Monster Squad, as well. John Davis, one of the producers on the very first movie, is set to produce the new one.
No word yet on which year this movie is expected to open, but we'll keep an eye out for that information. Viners, do you think Black's a good choice for this sci-fi franchise? Speak your mind below.

Update
According to Collider, the movie is an "inventive sequel" and not a reboot.
“As far as Fred and I are concerned anyway,” Black said, adding “Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?” Black said he doesn’t like reboots generally, but can “really get behind inventive sequels”, noting that he likes “the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button.”
