Looks like Otto will be busy for the foreseeable fu- ...Sorry, almost made a really bad pun.

I thought SSM ended.

Guess Marvel found a way to milk the concept for a few more bucks

Same here.

I wonder if he'll eventually run into the classic Guardians of the Galaxy that Dan Abnett is writing again. I know they are technically in a separate universe, but they were in the year 2099. Could be cool.

I'm glad Spock is back. I didn't think he'd be gone for too long.

Can Dan Slott please get off everything Spider-Man so I can finally start reading it?

Posted by Krypton-115

Looking good as always, don't know how they're going to put these two in trade tough, probably with the whole spider-verse arc.

My question is, if Doc Ock did come back after the superior spiderman saga, would he revert back to his criminal ways, or would would he attempt to prove himself a better hero then spiderman?

Superior Spider-Man #32?

Posted by Caladorcp

@johnny_blaze: There are two more issues. They connect to the Spider-Verse event and explain why Doc-Spidey is there in the event. So these are just tie-in issues. Apparently it actually explains what happened in some issue of SSM but I can't remember how. I didn't read SSM, but I'm going to read Spider-Verse, so this is on my pull list.

Edited by Wyldsong

It is officially done with, but they are showing the story of what happened when he was transported to the future in one issue, and they never went into detail with what exactly happened. I think this will run for one or two issues.

I dont know how to respond to this,I admit otto as spidey was a fun spin(glad it ended) but now hes in the year 2099,Im done with it,. Im all for the spider-verse ,so I will see where this goes, also i my opinion I hate his suit design lol

YES! I have been waiting for Superior Spidey to return. And seeing him in 2099 universe to be the Superior Spider-Man there is a treat.

Finally a reason to read Spider-Man again.

I hope so too.

I can't wait for this. I hope that he comes back to be a separate hero from spiderman. Maybe has his own ongoing later.

I think this is supposed to be what happened when Horizon labs exploded and he blinked out of time for a minute. I think it was SSM #19.

I'll be reading this.

SSM 32-33. MARVEL is only doing it for the....

Posted by IDontLikeBirds

Of what little I know, the only way I can think of this organically working (aside from this being an alternate universe version where Peter didn't return or something) is if this is where Spock went during that time he disappeared in the Superior Spider-man series during his meeting with Spider-man 2099. Anyone else remember the explosion concerning holes in time, that resulted in him disappearing for a while, then returning with no memory? I'm going to guess that this is what happened, which explains a few things, and I guess why the issues take place after issue 31 (since they take place in the future for the character, but not in the future of the overall series arc). I'm assuming this doesn't have Spider-man 2099 in it (otherwise it would be marketed as another crossover with him teaming up in the 2099 universe) since he was in modern day New York stranded, thus having them stuck in each others time periods.

It'll be interesting to see who he meets in this time period. You can see he meets Gabe at least (and a few other characters whose names escape me at the moment, but I recognize from the SM2099 series).

Well of course, all the publishers are in this business to make money??? Plus Superior is hot right now, glad Marvel listened to the fans and brought him back.

that's not what I mean though. of course things are made for money. With this I mean they are milking it out too long. It just seems like they are seeing how much longer they can make money off of it.

I wouldn't say that is completely true, as Slott has mentioned that he had planned for Spock to be around for Spiderverse, and it was supposed to center more around him, but they brought Peter back early. Personally I think this storyline was planned for a while since Spider-man 2099's story arc in Superior. Now if they start doing a lot of mini-series and Vs. books (looking at you Carnage and Deadpool), then I'd say they were purposely milking it.

I personally think they should have brought Peter back after Spiderverse. I know it wouldn't happen because of AMS2, but it shows you that comics usually bend over backwards to accommodate the movies, but the movies don't have to do the same.

I'm thinking that it was being planned further back than that....I don't know if I ever said anything on the forums here but I had been kind of speculating at some type of Spider themed event since they brought Kaine back....my theory was that there were a ton of Spider themed heroes running around or being brought back...right now the Marvel Universe has Peter, Kaine, Spider-Woman, Spider-girl, the one remaining MVP clone, Spider-man 2099, and Julia Carpenter...now to be fair I never even came close to speculating at something as big as Spider-Verse but I had a feeling that they were putting things in position for something...plus I think that Julia has been hinting at Spider-Verse for a while now to

@wardemon32: Yeah, i understand why most people still stay with Peter, but i loved Ock because he did what we wanted in a Spiderman, he used his genius, he upgraded his suit, he left Mary Jane for her protection, he got a well paying job, he didn't give villains the easy way out. See what i mean?

Posted by MideonNViscera

Too many uninformed, or dumb, comments. Ock's not "back". These issues tell us what happened when Ock disappeared for a few seconds during that issue of Superior. Marvel's not "milking" more money, they're following through on an idea they set up earlier and always had.

Posted by comedy_brosUSA

@danhimself: To be honest, Julia's been hinting at a lot. Spider Verse seems to be pretty big, so I'm not sure what the outcome of that will be. Kaine is still around so maybe he will be in it. overall, spider verse looks interesting and pretty cool, but in my opinion they need to have the right artist(s) on the book for that arc to get me to buy it. Miles from the Ultimate U will play a role in it too, and I think they've said something about finding out who Miles in 616 universe is, but I'm not sure if that was a fan theory thread or an official release.

I agree. I just felt like maybe it was addressed in a way that seemed like it was milked out. I mean it's fine if they had it since the 2099 arc, but honestly I'm not sure. overall I liked superior spider-man, but I mean now that Pete's back, we have spider verse which I guess Otto will play a role in, and that should be the end of him. Like I think Marvel should take that as the end of their 'Superior' character. I mean 3-4 years down the road, if something with Superior were to come up as like a 'reflecting on that time period' issue than that's fine, but i think after Marvel finishes up spider verse, Otto's story should be finished.

that actually seems like a cool theory. but Otto could never deal with the multiverse and Peter at least could in some way since he knows a few of the other spidey's. But it seems like Otto will still play a role in it anyways. and yeah, looking back I don't think Peter was brought back at the best time, but I'm glad he's back.

Spider-Verse almost sounds like a ploy to write Peter and Ock working together and two Spider-Man against Morlun.

Spider-Verse needs only one savior, and his name is Corporal Eugene Thompson.

Posted by Teerack

So many confused people... I thought more people actually read SSM with how many people were always defending it.

We're always going to the future or the past anymore in comics. Or someone from the future or the past has traveled to the present. Time travel is exhausting.

I share the same sentiment. :p
