First Look: SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #19

This story is getting so good Carlie is so close to busting Otto :o

@personz: Part of me is thinking that these things that are going on are going to set the 2099 universe the way that we know it.

Anyway, part of me thinks that Max Modell is not the good and caring boss we think he is. But I'm going to keep my mouth shut on why.

Just to throw this out there. Before Dan slot took on Superior Spiderman, I wouldn't touch marvel because I was tired of the lack of story and bad writing, hopeless with his Avengers Arena was the nail in the coffin (Talk about lazy story-telling). I was skeptical about this series, Doc Oc as Spider man, really? But it works...Slot made Marvel and Spiderman interesting to me again with this unlikely series. I'm hooked and have returned to enjoying Marvel comics.

Definitely love that Miguel is part of this story...its bring out Superior in ways I never expected.

before this i was expected 2099 to stay around, i mean he still could but that cover leads to not so likely

All I can think of is "Is the Spot attacking on the cover?"

Is this comic another way to show Ock/Peter/Spider-Man interact with someone else (SpiderMan 2099)? Or is there more to it that could involve Spider-Man 2099 sticking around or replacing Ock?

...Otto has Peter's memories, in first-person. The face is different only because Otto remembers Peter's life as if he had lived it. The face reflects his self identity, but he still "remembers" being called Peter. It's not an insult to readers, so much as a creative visual shortcut in explaining the internal workings of the series' protagonist.

I get that you don't like Superior. Cool. No series is for everyone. And I get the some people were so emotionally dependent on Peter being Spidey that they can't even give this title a fair shot. Still, some others gave it a fair shot, and it wasn't for them. I give those people props for giving it the old college try. But that doesn't turn it into awful or lazy storytelling when it clearly isn't.

OMD was lazy (erasing decades of history instead of finding new trajectories while retaining established character development) and out-of-character. This series gives us new perspectives on who Spider-Man is, as a symbol, and what he can be were he not holding back. It also helps bring to light one of his oldest foes and explore his development, putting him grudgingly on a hero's journey.

Sweet can't wait to read it.

I'm worried that this story will end up erasing Miguel form all of existence. Hopefully it will not. Either way I am enjoying it.

Wait. Wait. I just noticed something in the only letterings in those pages.

We can go through all the trouble to piss-off Peter fans by using the same art style and super-imposing Otto's head over Peter's in ... you know.. Peter's life. Because... screw Peter is the new 'good storytelling' in ISM.

But you can't even be arsed to change the -name- in one panel to Otto? Either that's intentional and a bigger insult, or it goes to show true laziness and they just copy-pasted the art.

@battle_forum_junkie: Agreed. As much as I like Ramos, Stegman still takes the cake with this title. I liked Gamuncoli on Avengers Initiative, but not so much on SupeS. Could be worse though. :)

Stegman's art is a major improvement over Ramos's, IMO.
