First Look: SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #1

Excited to read the whole issue when it comes out

first time i'm interested in buying a Spidey comic since OMD.

Couldn't he at least of changed his name out of respect for Peter like Ben did.

I must admit that i'm puzzled by the body swap story, but spiderman really hasn't been this interesting for quite a while.

Rip off Captain Boomerang does not bode well for the start of this new series.

All I really have to question is...how long will this big switcheroo remain before Ock is caught and people know what's really going on? Interesting change-up but still, no amazing surprises here.

At least he's doing good. I would have hated the idea even more if he'd been an evil spidey. Still I'm on the bring Parker back band wagon. I bet there'll be no witty quips or anything during his fights, in which case everyone would know it's not him.

Looks decent. Love the art.

I have to admit I like the new Sinister Six line up, big fan of the new Beetle, Shocker, and Boomerang.

u cant read spider man whith out relating him to Parker its like buying a Lexus made by GMC...spider nuts is just not spider man anymore, face it!

Peter will be back. Marvel Now was created to bring in new readers. This would confuse the hell out of any new reader if Peter doesnt come back.

I does make me laugh that Peter is dead in both universes. Poor guy needs a hug.

Looks good. Loved Boomerang in Thunderbolts. Haven't seen him or Shocker since.

I'll give it a shot. I like that Slott doesn't seem to have used this as an excuse to abandon the wit-factor of Spider-Man, but rather infused a different kind of wit more in line with Octavius... more intelligent, more biting. "Unbelievable! Of all the unmitigated gall! Well, I guess they're letting anyone call themselves the Sinister Six these days."

My body is ready.

OK, so based on the end of 700 and this, Superior Spider-Man will be trying to be a real hero, as apposed to how he seemed in Avenging where he still seemed very sinister.

It's funny, I became infinitely more interested in both Ultimate and 616 Spider-Man after Parker died in both universes. This isn't to say that I hate Peter Parker or anything. More than I'm a big fan of alternate takes on established characters. Either way, I'll be waiting for the trade, but I'm definitely going to read this.

I'm not buying a single issue of this garbage until Peter comes back.

Why are so many people excited about this? Don't fans realize that they killed off one of the most beloved heroes of all time in the most half-assed and insulting way possible? On top of that, a villain possessing Peter's body, especially the one who killed him, is a horrible idea for Spider-Man. So what, murderers and robbers just get off scot free while treasured icons are left to die with nothing to show for it? What kind of backwards storytelling is that? Are we actually supposed to root for this creep?

This sounds like the work of really bad fan-fiction as opposed to actual writing. I can't believe fans are supportive for such a putrid concept, what the hell is wrong with you people?

Agreed. I'm obviously going to check it out, but I'm really hoping that over time having Peter's memories and stuff will slowly make Ock and Peter's personality into one

Was hoping Boomerang wouldn't go back to being a petty villain, given everything he did in Thunderbolts, which was great. I didn't see any of those dudes becoming good guys, obviously, but...ya know, something more than just a petty street level villain.

What I'm most interested in is how will doc fair off against osborn, I mean he did "escape" from the hospital assuming he came out of his coma. Considering now that Ock was filling in for norman as spideys main arch nemesis, who in spideys rogue gallery can really reach norman/ock nemesis status? Plus, there is a reason why dan brought norman out of his coma and to see that showdown does seem very intersting... Anyone agree?

I was hoping for something a little more… interesting. Miguel O'hara would've been fun to see. Now it's just blah.

He's gonna puss out once the fight gets intense. Ock has a lot to live up to.

So, the new Sinister Syndicate is the new Sinister Six?

In a way he's still Peter he has all his memories and that its's makes a person memories!

@ComicFan93 i agree with you entirely, its bad enough what marvel has done to the x-men and the avengers in recent years, now spider-man is next on the hitlist. just as long as the cinematic installments dont suffer the fate of the x-men films, i wont lose all hope.

I will read it yes, but I do not like it. I am sorry but Spider-Man is Peter Parker. We were told before that the Ultimate Universe was a place where authors could take comics and do things that they normally wouldn't do in the regular series. They can go balls to the wall so to speak. They killed off Peter and brought a new Spider-man. It sucked that Peter died but we still had the original Peter of the regular universe.

@MetalSonic Why read if you're not gonna like it? For me, it all hinged on ASM 700 which not only failed to get me interested in Superior, the ending appalled me so much that I refuse to support it until there's a sign of Peter returning and I've been a fan of Spider-Man since I was a kid.

The whole switch thing makes me feel uneasy..................................................................................a villain in a heroes body saving the day

Exactly. How the hell do they expect me to be interested in or care about the person that effectively killed one of my favorite heroes? Even if they do eventually bring Peter back it isn't like all of this just goes away. In my opinion this is thousands of times worse than OMD

I gotta give it a shoot, but as everything else if the first issue isn't really good, you lost me.

I wonder if in Superior, Ock will try and rehabilitate super villains, considering he is a reformed super villain himself, or will he just go beat them up and perpetuate the cycle the killed Peter Parker making his death pointless?

$3,99? No, thanks. I'm not paying $3,99 for this. I hate that some fans say "but it comes with a free digital copy!" Well, it isn't free, you are paying $3,99 for a comic that should be $2,99. Get ride of the free digital copy and take down that extra buck. I don't buy Marvel because of that.

No thanks. I'll just wait till this is undone in a years time.

What's sad is this will probably sell very well which in turn will make it longer before its reversed :-/

Only to say that I "did give it a chance". like lots of others here, I won't be happy till they bring spider-man back.

He is in Peter's body and living Peter's life and looks 100% like Peter, why would he change his name? How would that make any sense to anyone else in Peter's life?

Ok...I was hesitant at first...I mean really hesitant....but after reading Avenging Spider-man 15.1 and now this....I think it might be ok.
