First Look: STORM #1

Happy Marvel is doing this. DC needs to learn from their example and start giving more characters their own book, and stop canceling everything.

I'm only really following uncanny X-men and some of wolverine and the x-men. But her thinking towards cyclops in both seems so unreasonable. Everytime he shows up she's getting ready to fight him and never tries to talk to him. But from what all the other characters seem to think of Storm she should be willing to hear Scott out at least. I mean they were friends for a really long time and she has seen what the phoenix can do to people before. On top of that I never really liked that royalty sense she has about herself. I know she was a queen and everything but, for me, it comes off as the same arrogance that Namor shows, which I'm not a fan of either. Mind you I don't read a lot of Storm but again I've also never been given reason to look more into Storm's character from what I've seen of her.

Why is she annoying you?

@i_dont_like_comics: refined control , she created a monsoon in a mall , a hurricane in a flower shop and carried puck and psylocke on her winds at high speeds while psylocke was unconscious besty didn't even know what was happening when she woke up til Puck told her that storm had them "in hot pursuit"

@i_dont_like_comics: Yeah, you purposely misunderstood. There are rarely any ongoings with a black woman as the lead. I'm just stating facts.

@copete: why is it "totally unnecessary"?

I'm with some of the others on here. The art and coloring look great but Storm as a character has just been annoying me lately. They'll have to give her really good writing for me to want to buy a solo book of her.

@i_dont_like_comics: its an old talent of hers she's used since her debut, they just havent shown her using it in a few years. it has to do with manipulating the unstable molecules in her costume to change them

@johnny_blaze: yeah. because storm or any other black woman doesn't get her own book because she's black. nailed it, buddy.

So far, I like what I see, but I fear a meh story.

Storm is an awesome character, but she's very powerful and can be quite difficult to handle in a good story.

I mean, Lightning ? Control of the wind ? She's potentially almost as powerful as magneto and it's difficult to manage a good opposition without too much ass pulling from the writers.

I will be looking forward for this series, tough.

I haven't read anything by Pak but the art is gorgeous. I do feel like Storm has a character has been lacking recently. She's gotten more annoying and bitchy then before. I'm hoping this series will rectify that or at least justify it in a better way. If Wolverine is really dying soon, she'll become the head of the Jean Grey school and is therefore sort of the leader of the X-Men. This solo book is deserved.

A woman of color with her own series. That's rare. I will be supporting.

All the Storm fanboys on the vine should be happy. I'll pass though.

Haters gonna hate but I'm happy to see more people willing to give the book a try than pre-bashing it.

I have zero interest in her as a solo character. That's not a bad thing.

I wonder if with a solo book a writer will actually be able to make Storm more then the close minded self important person she currently is. It would be damn impressive since she has like 50 years of stubbornness to support her lack of character depth. I really hope Pak is able to do something for her.

I'm not a fan of the colorist. All the pages have really muted colors for no reason and it makes it less exiting then if the pages popped with more color.

@erik: That's what I'm been wondering how long will Cyclops, Magneto, Nightcrawler and Storm last. I hope they last long just to show that Wolverine isn't the only X-Man to hold his own book.

I predict that it will go 8 - 10 issues.

Bout time Storm got a solo book. Marvel is really putting their female characters up front at the moment. DC wants to know what took so long?

Storm is a decent character but Pak is one of my favorite current writers. Just might have to give this a go.

Wow! So excited for this! I genuinely, cannot believe that such an amazingly diverse character has never had her own solo series before. Bitches better buy this amazing looking book!

firstly lighting gave barry abs of steel. secondly, lightning gave shazam a ping pong table. now they give storm clothes. is there anything lightning can't give? a good transformers movie.

@tommythehitman: in the very least you can see he got shot in the a$$. and surely the tank lands on some of them, but hey they're bad guys. oh and i call bulls%it. the winds are strong enough to lift a tank but not blow away small wood houses?!

Looks pretty. But I really can't afford another ongoing unless it REALLY grabs my attention.
