I think the mostly black costume with the large red spider would have been better, and whats with making the fingers a different color all of a sudden? And wasn't some writer quoted as saying the clone in the Jackal's lab submerged in fluidswas Ben, aka "the perfect clone?" With MARVEL and the name games they play [where characters fight over names and trade wardrobes] I can see Ben coming back as a Scarlet Spider and Kaine taking the name Jackal gave him... Tarantula!

Yay, just when I thought it was safe to start reading Marvel again I see this. Just what we need, another Spider-Man. Because you know, 80 Wolverines weren't enough, and it's not like we don't have enough Spider-Men/Women as it is. I mean come on Marvel, how many times can you keep pumping out the same character with a different skin. OH, this time Spider-Man is going to be more brutal. Give me a break. Why not focus on making your characters and books good again, and then you can start raping characters like this...Oh I forgot, this was Disney's plan all along.

Kaine's a great character, he's the 'better' spider-man. I'm glad he gets a chance in the spotlight. And if he was brought back to life so quickly, who's to say Ben won't return at some point. The fan base want him back. I'd like to see a triple Spidey team up.

I have to say this is a series I am very excited to read. I read some of it Marvel Point One and I thought it was a pretty good series.

Well, I'll give it a shot since it's a Spider-book as long as no "editorial mandates" ruin it. Too bad it's not Ben, but hopefully the fragile psyche of brother Kaine will be explored. But I haven't read a Spider-book since chapter one, so what happened to the scars?

Kaine's got some mad moves, can't wait to see them in his new costume as the Scarlet Spider

The mirror scene, makes me wonder, if they'll do somekind of multiple personality bit, for Kaine.

I quite like the fact, that they went with Houston, instead of the usual New York (which frankly, is rather overcrowded, when it comes to superheroes). Here Kaine doesn't have to deal with what Ben often had to deal with (someone running into him and mistaking him for Peter or the Scarlet Spider, for Spider-Man). Kaine does also have got his own past (things that he have done), which I can see Yost getting a lot out off. You can have another member of the Kravenoff family show up, with the intent to kill Kaine, because he killed Grim Hunter. I think Jacob Raven (the one person, who's been given the Mark of Kaine and lived to tell about it) is still alive, so you could have him be transferred to Houston. Not to hunt Kaine down, but more act as a constant reminder (every time, Kaine sees Raven) about his past. Perhaps bring back Stunner.

Spider-franchise becomes so much awesome. First, ASM gains its former glory. Then Venom has a new mission in a great espionage title. Now, the mantle of Scarlet Spider is passed on!

i agree. with the cancellations of X-23 and Daken, can marvel afford to release new titles? I say this could be based on the hype of the upcoming Amazing Spider-man movie. Could also be part of the reason marvel didn't cancel some of the lower selling Avengers titles instead of X titles. We're not due for another X movie for a few years. I Imagine that these new spidy titles (Venom, Scarlet Spider, and whatever else they pump out in the next month) will last their respected 24 issues in their runs....just enough to crank out a couple paperbacks. I won't be surprised if we see a second Ghost Rider mag pop up!

That's kinda my point. I like that Kaine is turning his life around but all I'm saying is if he's using the Scarlet Spider name, he should be careful not to mar it.

Don't really get the first image with the bugs on the ground but am excited about this series. Think it's appropriate to not have Ben Reilly come back. One because it gives more credit to a comic book death but also because now Kaine looks so much like him and Peter that three Parker boys running around would just be weird.

Think he should keep the beard and long hair though to set him apart from Peter a bit more rather than go with dying his hair or something.

It looks good, but someone get Ryan Stegman to a firing range and teach this dude about guns. They are shooting shotguns in the picture, but Kaine is dodging regular bullets. I don't see a single buckshot in that panel. One guy looks as if he's firing a machine gun, but he wouldn't be able to pull off that storm of bullets shown.
