First Look: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #1

@monopolyloser: I don't follow DC that much, so it was funny the first time I saw Power Girl - I was like "Are you kidding me?" I wasn't outraged or anything, it was just sadly funny. Also before the New 52 my only exposure to Starfire was the old Teen Titans cartoon - imagine my surprise seeing her in Red Hood & the Outlaws lol.

I think I am one the very few who liked Jim Lee's costume redesign for Wonder Woman - the one w/ the jacket, it was pretty modern and dope. Although admittedly, I don't have a heavy emotional investment in her like I do w/ other female characters like Jean, Psylocke, and Dust - so I didn't have any nostalgic grip on her traditional costume.

Speaking of which as a Muslim myself, I've flip flopped on whether I like Dust's costume. There are many Muslim women around the world who choose to wear the veil, while others just wear a headscarf and dress modestly (no tight, revealing clothing), I'm just not sure if they chose it for her in a stereotypical way - which is the cause of my flip flopping.

Regardless, hats off to Marvel.

It's a very logical step for the character. He's meant for better things than just Earth.

There is some Mass Effect feeling to this... Weird.

Arrr this frustrating for me, I was a huge fan of the Guardians during those fantastic Annihilation cosmic events. Now they completely got rid of Rich Rider as Nova( BOOOOOO) and then they put together this team. I hate how Marvel is completely messing with the comics just so it can make some movies. The movies and comic universe should be totally separate. Everything Abnett and Lanning did for the cosmic side of Marvel is wasted now. I loved all the Marvel movies that lead up to the Avengers and I believe I will love what they will do in the future cause they got strong writing and casting for the movies. I just hate to see it change the comic universe like this.

is that Iron Man helmet supposed to look like the Star Lord helmet? Because it does.

Iron Man looks like Klytus from "Flash Gordon". That's not a good thing in this case.

I like what Bendis is saying about the direction for the new series. I was hesitant, but now I am on board. Not so much with Nova though. Ugh.

Adam Warlock turned into the Magus, who was then killed by Lord Mar-Vell.

Not like it matters to Bendis. Starlord and Drax were dead too, but now they are back. This is obviously only including the characters they want for the movie, thus the absence of Moondragon, Mantis (who need two green chicks, right?) and Cosmo (also, who needs two talking animals).

I have read the Guardians of the Galaxy since the1970s. It was one of my favorites comics of all time. I miss the original group from the future with Martinex and Starhawk, not this team with members of The Infinity Watch.

WHY!! You don't need an Avenger in every team. The guardians will be ruined by Tony acting the boss. Starlord is the boss. Bendis you suck! Abnett should be writing this.

I don't like to complain at all, but your grievances are well felt...

I'm excited for this, but very hesitantly seeing as its written by Bendis. And whats up with Stark on the team? I get that he's popular and will help the title sell, but I just see him clashing with Quill and taking the focus away from other members. And you know he's still going to be in at least one Avengers book as well has his solo title. I'm sorry, but Guardians is a full time gig, I don't really like him splitting time on this.

And if they're positive they only need one green chick they should have gone with Mantis over Gamora. She's always been such a larger part of this embodiment of guardians, even before they were the guardians. Gamora is cool and all, but Drax kind of already does what she does.

At least the promo pic for the movie has Star-Lord in his helmet, even if they aren't all wearing the awesome matching uniforms. So at least we have that.

He died about 3 to 4 times in his career so you really shouldn't worry about it. I'm more surprise that he's been eating his vegetables because he is HUGE now compared to his last appeance.
