First Look: Green Lantern The Animated Series

Get ready for Green Lantern to become a household name.

We are on the verge of all the New York Comic-Con announcements. TV Guide scored a first look at the upcoming Green Lantern animated series.

Bruce Timm will be the Executive Producer so you know it's going to be good. There will be a panel on Saturday at NYCC from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Room 1A14. Be sure to check it out if you are attending the convention. Producer Giancarlo Volpe and Producer/Story editor Jim Krieg will also be there to answer your questions

Do you think a Green Lantern animated series will...fly? We don't have an exact premiere date but it's a good thing to get this out around, if not before the release of the movie. I would imagine based on the track records of those involved that this won't be a rushed project just to accommodate getting GL's name out there.

I'm hoping this will be good.

Bruce Timm?  Yay!!

Judging by the poster, the animation looks like Star Wars The Clone Wars. And since Bruce Timm is behind this, I'm in.

It better be good.

It's going to be weird seeing a CGI animated show with DC characters. Not really a fan of the look.

Holy hell this could be good! I wonder how they'll go about it.

DC is going all out on the GL franchise! I can't wait to see this!

with the Avengers cartoon coming, the Green Lantern cartoon on its way, and while its still on Batman Brave and the Bold, cartoon shows are looking good.  Too Bad Batman and Spider-Man was canceled.
GL would Totally make an awesome show.  In animation you can do anything, so the amount of aliens shown, Green Lantern's constructs, fights, space adventures, everything will be more doable in animated form than a tv show or movie.  Its almost like it was made for this.

Imagine, the cast could include Killawog, Guy, John, Kyle, and any Green Lantern you could think of, while starring Hal.  So many cool show ideas and adventures can come out of this.  Even could include Larfleeze or anything to do with the Blackest Night or Brightest Day.

My God, Man.... think of the toys!

Bruce Timm will make this show fly (no pun intended...okay maybe pun intended) but i'm not too sure I dig the animation. Had to figure DC would come out with something like this to boost awareness for the GL movie.

I'll watch that.

This is gonna be great :)))

If it's half as good as the Justice League series or the 90's Batman show I will watch it. Other then a few stinkers I have very much enjoyed the recent direct to DVD cartoons they did. I just hope they keep it mature and don't talk down to us and make another kids show.

I just wish the character designs were more in tune with The Batman, rather than Batman Animated Series.  Oh well, it's the story that counts.

@Jordanstine:
It's Bruce Timm's style and since he did BTAS and not The Batman, of course it will not look like that.

Bruce Timm + CGI + Green Lantern = Win.

So many characters, so many stories....I look at Clone Wars and it could be similar (big cast, multiple storylines, no limits). The animated series is going to blow the movie out of the water.

does this mean the DCAU is coming back?

Would love more seasons of BATMAN : THE ANIMATED SERIES!!!!
Posted by greenenvy

Sweet its even going to have the clone wars style?! Its getting better and better.

Posted by DarkSyde79

I’m sure it’ll be a good series. I just wish he hadn’t went with a similar character design to the DCAU if he had no intention of tying it back in with them. But oh well, I’m over that and can’t wait to see the new series.

The Timm-verse in 3-D??? I wish they'd do 1 episode it with the old grainy style animation for nostalgia's sake. I will watch nonetheless

Bruce Timm = Instantly sold!

Posted by blaakmawf

I'm up for it.

Now all we need is a Wonder Woman and the Flash tv show!

This is news that is indeed welcome!  Sweet.

Bruce Timm = Instant Win and cake. That poster though? It makes me uneasy. I'm not too sure about it. BUT. Bruce Timm, I have to at least watch the entire first season to give it a chance.

I don't think the Bruce Timm animators had anything to do with The Batman. I'm pretty sure it was the same people who did Jackie Chan Adventures and MIB

eww art/animation looks bad. it looks like the incredibles art

So damn glad this is Bruce Timm.  I agree with everyone saying this will be good and we haven't even seen a thing on it yet.  It's in good hands.  It'll have the vibe that it's aimed not towards the older readers to be able to enjoy a good cartoon.  Can't wait now.  So much that can be done.  I just hope the first season goes and overloads itslef with all the villians that are out already.  Hopeing this doesn't have Hal starting out and that he's already a vet like they did with Batman and Superman.  Sure Superman had an orgin story but after that it felt like they somewhat jumped into his career and he had been Superman for a while when the SAS was going.   Im just so into all the characters being used in the book right now, I want to see Artrocitus and the red Lanterns, I want to Larflleeze Agent Orange.  I want Black Hand be done and dirty evil.  Here's to hoping that Sinestro is already a bad guy and they don't have to tell that story how he gets pissed off and freaks out.  So much to look forward to.

I'm not a huge green lantern fan, but I'm also looking for some new animated shows to watch.

Eh. Not digging it from this ad.

I think this could be really good if done right.

he was MIA but now he is back yay

Posted by CRACKERMAN92

GL! But i dont know if the show is really gonna take off.

Posted by longbowhunter

Looks like its computer animated. I dont like that.
Posted by Sydpart2

A GL series could be really cool so long as it's like 25% on Earth and 75% out in random parts of the galaxy. If it was all in space it'd be kind of off from him feeling like a superhero and if it was all on Earth it would take away one of the cooler things about the character.

Posted by Primmaster64

yay! Hal or and Kyle

Posted by Brickabrack

Yep Bruce Timm has a great track record. This will be a must watch for new and old fans alike. For it to really get popular they should have plenty of crossovers with Batman, Superman and the JLA in general.
Posted by HT101

I read the words Bruce Timm and was immediately behind this project.  That man can pretty much do no wrong when it comes to animated shows in my opinion.

Posted by Dark Walker

Sweet, can't wait for this, GL is in good hands.  It'll be nice to finally have a decent respectable DC cartoon on again.
