DEADPOOL VS. X-FORCE #1 (MAY140886)

Written by DUANE SWIERCZYNSKI

Art by PEPE LARRAZ

Cover by SHANE DAVIS

Variant Cover by J. SCOTT CAMPBELL (MAY140887)

FOC – 06/09/14, On-Sale – 07/02/14

This July, big guns, big pouches, and big action all return as your favorite mercenary goes toe-to-toe with that band of militant mutants in DEADPOOL VS. X-FORCE #1 – the first issue in a bombastic new limited series from writer Duane Swierczynski and artist Pepe Larraz! Journey back to the long-forgotten days of the 1990s, when two characters made their thunderous debut and would go on to change the face of Marvel Comics forever.

That’s right – we’re talking about Cable & Deadpool! In this all-new tale, experience the duo’s very first meeting, well before their first comic book appearance together in New Mutants #98, as Cable and his soon to be X-Force race through the timestream to stop a reckless mercenary (that’s Deadpool!) before he destroys American history for good!

“Deadpool's gone back to key points in American military history: the Battle of Germantown during the Revolutionary War; Gettysburg during the Civil War, and then... well, I can't say anything else, because you know how one little musket ball has a funny of changing the course of human events,” says series writer Duane Swierczynski.

Join Cable and his band of mutants as they hunt Deadpool through the annals of American History before he can alter the space-time continuum as we know it! Can they stop him in time? Don’t miss the start of the blast from the past ride that will have everyone on the edge of their seat when DEADPOOL VS. X-FORCE #1 erupts off of the shelves this July!

This may sound sacrilegious but as long as Rob Liefeld isn't involved I'm happy. However, it is cool that this hearkens back to the old X-Force days of Deadpool and Cable. Should have some great dialogue between Wade and the others. Almost like a retcon so Deadpool can be a bit wittier and comical than his earlier counterparts. Even being one of the largest collector's of Deadpool books I agree there has been an over saturation in the Marvel U lately due mostly to younger readers taking a liking to him. It is a bit of overkill but since his creation in 1991 Deadpool was pretty much ignored by everyone for almost 10 years even though he had solo books. Once he fades out a bit he'll be a regular antihero. I like to compare his popularity to The Punisher in the 1980's. Remember how many Punisher books there used to be? It was crazy, you couldn't enter a comic book shop and spit without hitting a Frank Castle book, yet his popularity has feigned in the past decade despite the movies and new books. I will always love Deadpool and my fondest memory is being 10 years old and spending my saved birthday cash on his first appearance. I rode my bike two towns over and spent $49.00, yes $49.00 (comic shop inflation) on the book that would start my now very large collection. I used to be close to having every single Deadpool appearance but I have a lot of catching up to do now.

Golly this looks fun.

You know what's not fun? Assuming that it's Gonna be lame because of deadpool.

You know that old saying from thunderbolts #26? "Assume something, and deadpool will stab you."

Why exactly are people upset about this? It doesn't seem like it's based on the events taking place, or the writer, or artist? Just that they don't like Deadpool. No one is saying you need to like Deadpool, but please realize that if you don't you have a minority opinion. You can get Deadpool shirts at Walmart alongside Spider-Man and Batman. He's not going anywhere.

Also, this is only the second Deadpool vs. book for the record. And the first one was with a villain; Carnage.

I'm actually really excited for this super 90's blast from the past, and happy that it seems to be canon as well. If the series is reasonably priced I think I'll plan on picking it up.

THANK YOU!

I like Deadpool. Not a die hard fan or anything, but I DO like him. That being said, it's not like his series have any MAJOR repercussions on the Marvel Universe as a whole. Someone doesn't like Deadpool? Then don't read his comics, it's not like you're missing out on crucial information that ties to comics you DO like.

I hope the story is good but even if it's not it hits that nostalgic nerve of mine. Great to see old school X-Force in OG outfits but with today's art. Visually Im in, let's hope so on story too.

Are they going to deal with the fact that Domino was Copycat in disguise back in the early X-Force days?

Seems as if Deadppol is what Lobo used to be for DC back in the day. I have to admit as a young comic reader back in the day I was all about X-force, so I will check this out if nothing else then nostalgia purposes. Hopefully this turns out to have a decent story because I do like the look of the preview so far

I'm not upset, I'm just saying it's cheap and way too easy to put Deadpool in a nonsense mini series fighting someone rather than doing a book about something original. I would think the same thing if instead of "Deadpool VS" this was "Yet Another Wolverine Comic" or "The SuperAmaztacular Spider-Man Team-Up". But I'm just expressing my opinion here, I'm pretty sure people will buy this shit just because they are fans. But hey, it's the same as in any other industry, there will always be some corporate crap only made to make money in the store. In the music industry is called "One Direction" and here it's called "Deadpool VS"

No Feral? Anyway the book looks fun, I'm one of those people that actually liked the original X-Force, mainly because the team was cool, definitely a pick up for nostalgia.

Also no Shatterstar.
