First Look: AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #2

Well, this kind of implies where Wolverine is going to stand, at least in the beginning. I would not be shocked if he pulled a Peter Parker and flipped sides in the middle of the story, especially as the Host (of the Phoenix Force) becomes more in danger. Especially if the Host is one of the young X-Men (here is looking at you Hope). Wolvy will jump ship, I think, to (in my opinion) the right side. Killing/containing the Phoenix Force is an exercise in futility; it cann't be done, that has been shown numerous times, or even if it can be contained or killed, it never stays down for long.

I really hope this does not suck as much as I am afraid it will.

Looks ok, still utter tosh though.

Not bad, the art is a little dated, but I can deal with it.

WORST ART EVER!

"The Avengers storm the beach of Utopia, determined to save mankind at any cost!" ...... I still don't get how they end up going to war...... at least with Schism it kind of made sense. This just seems like a cash grab to me. There is no way either side can control/destroy the Phoenix force without the other helping (heck they should have even asked FF for help). Going to war with each other just doesn't make sense.

Plus didn't the avengers just fight cable, who told them that because they kill hope the future was doomed? Even if they believe that Phoenix Force needs to be stop, I would think because of Cable's warning they would come up with a better plan than YOU LETS GO TO WAR WITH THE X-MEN AND KILL THAT HOE HOPE!

My prediction is someone else beside Hope will become the Phoenix (mb even Jean Grey) then Hope mimics every mutant power around her + mimics the Phoenix force and helps the new host control and maintain its power.

I really hope that Colossus, Rulk, Thing, etc. get battle damage. I don't want to see an endless Punching Match. It's going to get very dull between the heavy hitters.

there is NOTHING redeming about his art,

here at least the red hulk and the shadowing on his muscles looks good and the distance shot of the damaged buliding is good

Not the greatest fan of the art. But my worry is about the quality of the story. Like people have said the premise of going to war semems flimsy at best and cynical at worst. Will anybody on either side kill anybody - and will they stay dead??? I have my doubts on that and, if they don't, it weakens the premise of this being all out war.

I'll be happy to be provded wrong but I've got a feeling this will be another Marvel 'Let's rush it out and move onto our next great idea' set of comics...

But wait, why is T'Challa choosing the Avengers' side? His wife is a marquee x-man and their children will (more than likely) be mutants. Why not support her? Same for Luke Cage. Danielle is gonna be a mutant. Idk. I'm ready for the brawls, but I'm way more excited for the exposition.

cus if he sides with the x-men the pheniox will be allowed to come to earth and could very likely destroy the planet and or just wipe evrey lving thing off the planet and then he and storm will never get to have any children or at least they wont have a place to live

John Romita Jr. can go f*ck himself. This is easily the worst art he's ever done.

i respectfuly disagree this is far more contained and structured than his art in the fear itself tie ins and a bit better than much of the art in the arcs before that

the noses... i always focus on JRJR's noses especially on frontal shots...

the little wolverine and little tc'halla up top... just so bad. I'll probably just read teh wikipedia version later so i don't get frustrated with the art. there should be a minimum standard to the art.

The art, while it's not bad, just doesn't feel epic enough for an event that's supposed to be huge.

I don't know why nobody likes John Romita Jr.He is a great artist for me.

art is plan nasty, story better be great to put up with it .

I know there are haters out there... but my personal opinion to this is something like this

Hate John Romita Jrs art

Hate the art but am excited for the arc. I dropped the Avengers comic bc i hate his art so bad. Nothing will turn me off more to picking up a comic then bad art. Idk why but i hate the way he draws Iron man the most

I can't stand the aaaaaarrrrrrttttt :( even with all these promotions and deals i just can't buy it with this art

All the drugs, alcohol and strippers in the world couldn't get me to read this book and it has nothing to do with the art

NOT a fan of John JR's art either - haven't been since his 90's X-men - I too, wish they would have picked a better artist there is a lot of them out there: Mike Choi, Jim Cheung, Leinil, even Clay Mann from the Age of X (how cool would it be for Magneto to adopt some aspect of that Age of X costume: I mean seriously - he's worn the same colors for the last 60 years: time for a costume change and embrace the light!) would have been better - IDK - I think John JR - is too connected and that's why they use him...I think he's great at layout, but it feels like he needs someone else to come in and add the details...

@Cafeterialoca: Colossus doesn't "take damage" anymore as he's powered by Cytorakk. If he gets banged up, it instantly heals. Seriously... Colossonaut could solo win this almost. I do love seeing him rip apart the helicarrier though. That thing about beat the Void as I recall...

Art... I am disappoint...

So wait, Marvel hypes up this supposed HUGE battle between their two biggest superhero team's, and they're starting the battle out with this crappy art? Why not bring in someone like Bryan Hitch, or Choi, or Epting...?

None of those story lines were any good, except for Spider Island? Really?! Talk about having blinders when it comes to Spiderman. The stories and art just haven't been any good for quite some time.
