First Look At Russell Crowe as 'Jor-El' on the Set of 'Man of Steel'

Check out the first leaked images of the actor on the set in full Kryptonian garb.

Earlier today we got our first look at actor Russell Crowe, who is slated to portray Jor-El, on the set of the 'Man of Steel' in full Kryptonian regalia. Crowe, who is portraying Superman's father in the upcoming movie definitely looks...interesting. Combine this news with a previous announcement via an LA Times interview with actor Michael Shannon (General Zod) that some of the film will be set on a different planet, and we have to wonder whether or not the planet in question is Krypton.

Russell Crowe as 'Jor-El'

Admittedly it's certainly interesting to see Crowe with a giant "S" insignia on his chest. Not to mention his robes look very heavy. What do you think of the images of Russell Crowe as Jor-El? How much of the film do you think should be set on Krypton? Do you think there will be flashback scenes? What do you think of the costume?

I think it looks better than the Superman one we saw a while back. I'm wondering if there'll be any effects added to it as it doesn't scream "advanced alien" to me, not like the Brando one did.

O_O people are whining so much, go watch the chris reeves movie then where they wore mage robes(which also had the s shield) They are trying to make krypton more alien rather than a crystal version of earth

And it's not even about the costume. It's just that I don't think Russel's the best choice for Jor El.

I love reading the comments after someone posts on-set photos of a superhero film, especially if it's costume-related. Everyone gets so angry!

Jor-el will look good probably on the screen with all the effects of Krypton. I hope this is better than Superman Returns.

I'll admit I have been a hater of the new costume but give the possibility of a good portion of it being on Krypton I'm a little more open to it. Russel Crowe wasn't  exactly a stand out choice in my mind but this looks pretty good.

lol what does that have to do with anything? makes as much sense as saying DC got christian bale as batman and the best marvel could muster is chris evans for cap.

I like it. It looks elegant and ceremonial. And I can see how Cavill's outfit could evolve from Crowe's, as Superman's would from Jor-El's.

Hmmm, it looks good but...in what story does pre-destruction Kryptonians appear to wear robs that resemble medieval attire? Crazy! I still like it though, and Crowe seems to take to the part nicely in looks. Now lets just see if he can deliver on the screen for us.

Surely nothing speaks futuristic race more than white attire. Make it in white and it make work. Russel Crowe, meh, he ain't no Anthony Hopkins, but I have faith in Christopher Nolan, he's done no wrong by us thus far.
