Beautiful art

The art is fantastic.

Art is incredible. The hair isn't that big of a deal to me. Definitely trying this out.

For sure getting this book but still hate the hair do much. Looks like she has a rat tail in some pics. Wish they gave her a pane trail instead of this or a panoytail with that huge bump in front if they wanted the faux hawk look. Still getting this cuz it's carol though!

Here's to this being of the caliber of Batwoman.

She looks amazing -- strong and gorgeous - and I cannot wait to get my hands on this book. Go Captain Marvel, go!!

Anyone else notice that in the first pic she's wearing a Marvel Man/Miracle Man uniform

I won't let all the whining about her hair bum me out (or, specifically TERRIFY ME with its STAGGERING narrow-mindedness) but I have to wonder why her boobs are bigger in space.

@Primmaster64: I'd love to see him in the MU but it doesn't seem likely they'll probably just bring Sentry back and try to pretend its a big deal

I really can't wait to read this. I hope DeConnick and Soy have it in them to make Carol the Wonder Woman level female icon Marvel needs. Barring that, I just want to see some great Captain Marvel stories.

Marvel spent the last 5 years building up Ms. Marvel and giving her a spot and identity within the Marvel Universe... she had a very distinct, individual and on-the-cusp of being an iconic look too... and it really felt like it was the right time for another Ms. Marvel series... it could've been her big chance to breakthrough and become one of Marvel's big stars.

so what do they do?

Ditch everything they spent the last 5 years establishing and give her an unrecognisable new costume and look and a new name to boot.

This isn't going to last beyond 8 issues. And the result is Ms Marvel will be stuck in this hideous costume and name for years after. All this series will have done is destroy one of Marvel's few female characters who could've held a book and make Marvel say "see, people don't want female stars! they wouldn't even buy a book about one of our biggest". No people wouldn't buy a book about a horrible take on a popular character that you completely re-interpretted and re-designed and then fobbed off to a woman who just happens to be the wife of one of their architects.

Way to go Marvel. Eugh.

I agree with EVERYTHING said here. Marvel has made some great decisions over the years and then some really stupid ones. Most of the stupid ones are still the number of ways they ruined Spider-Man. But I have to say, this definitely tops the chart. Once this failure of a series gets canceled, she'll be back as Ms. Marvel again. Bank on it.

What's funny is in the latest episode of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, they were joking about the fact that Ms. Marvel outranks Captain America. And here they go demoting her to Captain.

I like the cover but seriously get rid of that hair! This cover looks really good it's the cover for issue three of captain Marvel

Also, if she's inheriting the mantle of Captain Marvel mantle, it could be logical to assume she may get some sort of power boost, which, if so, would make her awesomely powerful. I like this. Back to the days of her ridiculous Binary strength!!!!

Oh, Right. Um...well Personally I'd rather see Ed McGuinness' artwork on interiors rather than what we're seeing here. Ironically, I think her boobs are way too big on the interior artists drawings. It's like she's got two additional heads in there. That'd be another reason why I like EdEx's version more...in addition to the colors of Dexter Vines popping more. As far as the hair goes...I have no quarrels=]

I love the art, is amazing and i must see Granov's variant!

Artwork is terrible, but I really like the new suit.

Hmm this looks good, I've really read much of anything with Carol Danvers just cos I kinda see her as generic super heroine #3 but at the least I'm liking the new look and name change, I may just check this out

I hope the creative team knows what they're doing. I like Carol but haven't seen her in anything worth a damn in a very, very long time.

Well this is... ugly... like everyone else I'll say it. Her hair is ugly. as is that helmet thing. grow it out so it's still wavy, but also short. y'know? but the art itself for the book is just ugly. won't be reading it.

AT first I didn't like the new costume, but after a while and after seeing different images (mostly fan art) of her new look I've started warming up to it. I just think her hair looked better longer or at least look something more along the lines of this...

I also think the new mask/helmet just looks stupid and really don't see the point in why she even needs it. Her skin is bulletproof! why does she need a helmet???

Helmet is a homage/tribute to the Kree's empirialistic militant way of life. Plus look at the older heroes from the Golden & Silver Age her costume is similar to theirs with a modernized twist. BTW in the top picture doesn't it look like Spideys thinking about copping a feel on Carol? LOL

Homage or not, it's not needed nor does it look cool. I just think she looks better without it plus I don't see why she even needs it. I'm just glad that it doesn't appear she'll be wearing it all the time.

If you were flying back & forth between Earth & space you'd need something to protect your face. Screw identity think about the bugs, birds, anything else that flies, debris, & other stuff that's going to hit your face while flying in & out of the atmosphere
