Check out the drool-worthy David Finch cover!
And out of the darkness there will be light, right? We all know by now that Brightest Day will be the event that follows Blackest Night. The story arc will be taking off in April and will be penned by Blackest Night writer Geoff Johns. Are you guys as excited as I am? When we shared the announcement with you guys back in January, we also told you that artist David Finch had signed an exclusive contract with DC and that he will be doing all of the covers for Brightest Day. Well, feast your eyes on this gorgeous piece of art! The lovely people at The Source gave us our first look at Finch's cover to Brightest Day #2. All I can say is, wow! I absolutely love the symbolism in this image. Seeing Arthur ( Aquaman) rising from the depths of the water out of the darkness and into the light just takes my breath away. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and in the case of Finch's cover, I'd say I have to agree.
As if that wasn't enough, Brightest Day writer Geoff Johns also gave a quote revealing what we can expect in the upcoming Brightest Day story-arc!
“Brightest Day’ is about second chances. I think it’s been obvious from day one that there are major plans for the heroes and villains from Aquaman to take center stage in the DC Universe, among many others, post-Blackest Night. ‘Brightest Day’ is not a banner or a vague catch-all direction for the DC Universe, it is a story. Nor is ‘Brightest Day’ a sign that the DC Universe is going to be all about ‘light and brighty’ superheroes. Some second chances work out…some don’t.”
Are you guys as excited about the launch of the new series as much as I am? I cannot wait to see the rest of the covers from David Finch!
UPDATE
We tried to get some more info for you guys from Editor-in-Chief of DC, Dan Didio. While it isn't much, he does indicate that we should keep our eyes peeled for more news in the coming weeks!
There you have it, from the mouth of the man himself!"Brightest Day is all about second chances, some work out, and some don't". Now who this is referring too, well that's something we will be revealing over the next few weeks.
best,
DD
