Firebreather to Premiere on Cartoon Network

The series by Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn will be heating up the network later this month.

An adaptation of the comic Firebreather by Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn has been in the works for a while. The premiere date has finally been announced. On Wednesday, November 24 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT, Firebreather will become Cartoon Network's first original CGI movie.

The movie is directed by Peter Chung (Aeon Flux) and deals with a teenage boy named Duncan, struggling to find his place as a half-human and half-Kaiju. While trying to focus on homework, Duncan also has to deal with his dad, a 120-foot, fire-breathing Kaiju from the depths of the earth, wanting him to follow in his footsteps. Basically, Firebreather is the story of a boy choosing between two different paths put before him by his parents.

Firebreather is written by Jim Krieg (Ben 10: Alien Swarm) and executive produced by Julia Pistor (Lemony Snicket's a Series of Unfortunate Events). The cast includes Jesse Head as Duncan, Dana Delany as Margaret, Kevin Michael Richardson as Belloc, Reed Diamond as Barnes, Amy Davidson as Jenna, Tia Texada as Isabel, Dante Basco as Kenny and Josh Keaton as Troy.

I thought this was based on the comic, but I wasn't sure since I hadn't read it.  But I wondered why the commercials weren't saying "Based on the Image Comic."  or "Image Comics presents..."

What I would like to know is how his mother dated a Dragon? Looks like an interesting move overall.

I saw the commercial the other day and I have to say I am interested.  The whole "his mom banged a dragon"  Sounds pretty awesome.  Kinda like in the movie Cabin Boy staring Chris Elliot, where they meet Charkie.  You know his dad banged a woman shark.  Love it.

I love Peter Chung's direction and stylized action but am not a huge fan of his anorexic character designs.  With design out of his hands I'm probably really going to enjoy this.

@G-Man:
.
What I'm curious about is how the hero's mom hog slammed a 120 foot dragon six ways from Sunday the sheer mechanics of it are mind boggling

It's even more wired in the comic books, because Duncan's (Firebreather) mother was married to the dragon.

If you think about it maybe all dragons plan on knocking up the princesses they kidnapped after they put them in those high towers, lol.

Didn't knew this..but from the few pic I see, the chara design is very Jeff Smith-ysh. Kinda reminds me of the human character in "Bone"

Phil and Andy are two of the best guys in comics. I always looking forward to seeing them when I'm at show and, as a fan of Phil's since his days doing the COFFIN, I'm tremendously pleased to see one of his comics making this kind of crossover.

What a bunch of art thieves! THIS WAS MY IDEA! My underbeing characters, who look like demons, are descended from dragons, thus they have dragon breath... Wow, usually when people steal ideas from me, there atleast a LITTLE sneaky about it. Jesus Christ!
