On Tuesday we saw our very first look at the next piece of the Fear Itself puzzle in Frank Cho's teaser image for Fear Itself: The Fearless. Today Marvel gave us a closer look at Fear Itself: The Fearless when the publisher revealed more preview images from their upcoming books and gave fans the opportunity to ask the creators some questions. This morning, Marvel hosted a live blog on their site featuring Marvel Senior VP of Publishing Tom Brevoort as well as the cast of Marvel's Fear Itself writers and editors Matt Fraction, Cullen Bunn, Chris Yost, and Alejandro Arbona.
According to the live blog hosted by Marvel, Fear Itself was evidently too large of a series to be confined to one book which is why the creators decided to split it up into different parts. According to Brevoort, Fear Itself was initially set up as a twelve issue series but then creators found that they had "too much story to tell," which is how the Fear Itself aftermath in both 'Fearless' and 'Battle Scars' came about.
== TEASER ==Ultimately they broke one of the story elements out into its own project, Battle Scars. So both Fearless and Battle Scars were "masterminded" by Fraction, Bunn and Yost. Yost is handling most of the "heavy lifting" on Battle Scars with Bunn on Fearless, though all three are working on both projects
According to the writers, Fear Itself: The Fearless will focus on the journey of different characters to obtain the artifacts used by The Worthy in Fear Itself. These artifacts have the potential to "be good or evil" and apparently, meaning that the way they are used will depend on the wielder of the weapon.
Various characters, each with their own goals, will be seeking out the hammers. There will be a vast variety of Marvel characters pursuing the hammers, protecting the hammers and getting involved in other ways
According to Brevoort, Fear Itself: The Fearless will "span the entire Marvel Universe" and will touch virtually all aspects of Marvel's world. That means that Fear Itself: The Fearless won't be confined to being an Avengers story, but will also feature Namor, FF and some notable X-Men. So far, the X-Men that have been confirmed to appear are Storm, Wolverine and Dani Moonstar. Fear Itself: The Fearless will bring both Valkyrie and Sin center stage. While Cullen works on Fear Itself: The Fearless, Chris Yost will be writing 'Battle Scars,' will not feature any female characters and will be a male focused book.
While we don't yet know much about 'Battle Scars,' Marvel did reveal some interior pages as well as the covers to Fear Itself: The Fearless #2. What do you think of Fear Itself: The Fearless? Do you plan on picking up the aftermath of Fear Itself books?
