It was new it was intresting it was different and well written but because it wasn't the normal Spider-Man you're used to you freak out. The last comment on saying Spock could work on his own if it's not Peter says it all. You don't hate Superior because of it being bad or anything. You hate it because it changed something about a character you like.

Superior on the other hand was awesome. But keep telling yourself TASM 2 wasn't garbage so you can sleep at night thinking something good with Parker happened withint the last year when really it was just a pile of crap movie.

The way it should be Superior Spider-Man was awesome. One of the best comic of last year dissapointing finale but overall great series. I've been on enough rants on why Spider-Man was getting old and repetitive with the same old bull over and over again extremely boring same old bull. While Superior was a breath of fresh air,new, intresting, etc. But from what i'm reading in these comments alot of people didn't like Superior because Spock was an A-hole but he was supposed to be one. i guess i can understand if you truly didn't like him being a jerk but it was the point. He's not Peter or Spider-Man. He's a different person like in real life there are different people Ock is an ahole Peter isn't. I prefer heroes who are different and diverse not the same old boy scout crap this or dark and gritty but actually not that dark that, oh so relatable because he messes up Peter etc. That's why i like characters like Punisher and Iron Man not the typical hero very different. Kind of d*** not your typical boy scout type hero. It's hard to go into much detail in this without cursing so i'll just end that there.

Honestly, my favorite scenes with Superior were with him and Anna Maria. It was interesting to see this side of Otto and I also enjoyed how he stood up for her against Aunt May. Too often I think Peter bends over backwards for her. Granted she did raise him, but he is an adult and at times she can overstep herself. It was good to see Otto build a relationship with someone he genuinely loved and also fought for. I think given time, we could have seen a lot more growth with Otto. I don't think people gave his character enough credit, but you can see how he started to grow with his interactions with Anna Maria (and not wanting MJ) as well as his decision to let Peter not only take over his body again, but also to get rid of himself, knowing it was the right thing to do.

Yes SpOck was a breath of fresh-air but I had to go with ASM, Slott really brought some fun epic stories that reminded me why I love Spider-Man so much! Spider-Island is easily one of my favorite modern marvel "events"…. Either way both are great runs!

Well said. I feel no empathy for Otto and can't wait for the fallout of Superior to be over. If I want an anti-hero Spider-Man I'll stick with Kaine.

I felt the whole time that the title should have remained amazing Spider-Man and the superior Spider-Man story could have been just told that way.

I'm not thrilled with the results of this poll but I'm not surprised either. I'm sure there are parts of Superior that I would've enjoyed had I not chosen to avoid the series but I know that it all would be overwhelmed by my utter disgust for Octavius and the circumstances under which he became Spidey. I'm all for a happier more successful Peter but only as long as it's actually Peter and not a scumbag in his body

I didn't like Superior at first but it won me over in the end. I liked how toward the end of the run SpOck actually figured why Peter was a better Spider-Man.

But really though anyone notice that SpOck was more enjoyable in other books? Like avenging, team up, and in other character books? Except Mighty he was more of an Ass in that one. Hell I think I liked him better in Wolverine #3.

Superior is the only Spider-Man to me.

My reaction to this disappointing news

Dude, chill out. I loved the Superior Spider-Man, but that doesn't mean I liked Amazing any less. Superior was a breath of fresh air and gave us nice insight into how Otto really operates. I'm sure he isn't permanently gone anyway, they'll find some way to bring him back as a villain.

But this poll...if Superior is this much more popular than the Amazing, they're definitely going to bring SpOck back at some point besides just Superior #32+33.

It was a nice plot-twist. A little controversial, but it was nice. Made me think about Spider-Man's principles.

the people who read Superior spider-man aren't true fans...most that read it said Spiderman wasn't they favorite until Ock took over...me I cant root for a supervillain

I love both series. I voted for Superior Spider-Man, if the Amazing Spider-Man choice included New Ways to Die then good chance I would have voted for that. Can't wait for Superior Spider-Man 32 & 33 & Spider-Verse!

@hushofthewind: I felt the same way when Superior first hit the ground. Certainly SpOck goes about things differently than Kaine, but if they wanted to have a brutal and vicious Spider-Man replacement they could have gone with Kaine. It probably would have been even better in my opinion haha.

I loved Superior. It was the excitement and anticipation of not knowing what Otto may do next that hooked me. I wish the series would have lasted about another year.

while Superior was a superb book I think it was also unnecessary. To me, Superior felt like it was taking the spotlight from another gritty and ruthless Spider-Man character, Kaine the Scarlet Spider.

I'm surprised by this result. I didn't vote but I would have put in for Superior Spider-Man as well. I've only read some of Spider Island and though it seemed well written there is just ZERO tension in any plot involving Peter Parker. I don't even hate the character. I'm more bored of his crime fighting techniques than anything and I always just expect him to get by with the typical Parker luck and pluck.

At least with Doc Ock at the helm there came a sense of dread not only with Peter's ultimate fate but for the fate of his supporting cast. I especially liked how many of Spidey's villains got involved in sort of a tournament over control of New York's underground and naturally only the biggest and baddest one could win. It was fantastic interpretation of a horror story that really could have shook the Marvel universe to it's core given enough time.

It reminded me a little bit of Monster where you have this unseen evil that is somehow immune to social persecution and completely infallible to the law. But again the tension is sort of nonexistent specifically because Peter Parker was involved. It was also pretty funny in some parts though it didn't exactly balance the tone of the story. It was more interesting to see Otto fall than it has been to see Peter win yet again. I wouldn't mind reading more horror stories from Slott with Marvel characters. So in the ever growing world of comics it resulted in a book that is not nearly as intense as Avengers or X-Men series and not nearly as funny as stuff like FF, Superior Foes, or Hawkguy. I enjoyed the series a lot but man is it a competitive market.

I understand Superiors appeal, and while I enjoyed it I proudly stand in the minority that enjoyed Amazing more. I thought Slotts evolution of Peter in that time and some great stories like Big Time, Ends of the Earth, and Spider-Island were just far better. Maybe it was because Superior had such a short time frame (which we all knew would happenwhat with the movie coming out) but it never really had any great arcs of it's own. It was just the Superior Spider-Arc, instead of being it's own beast to me.

Still it was a fun read. I just prefer Amazing.

And a "I didn't like either" one.
