Favorite Comic Runs: Matt Fraction's HAWKEYE vs. THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST

The writer's time with both characters is stunning, but if you had to support one story, which would you select and why? The winner is determined by you, so get in here and vote!

Matt Fraction, welcome to the Favorite Comic Runs' spotlight!

This week, we're taking a look at two books we absolutely love by the creative mind. Collaborating with Ed Brubaker, Fraction created the very awesome THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST. His time with Danny Rand is an epic adventure that's full of excitement and total badassery. It's a story that'll transform you into an Iron Fist fan and you simply cannot miss it. Meanwhile, Fraction's well-known for his recent work with Clint Broton Barton. HAWKEYE's a pure delight and a wonderfully unique book that's guaranteed to earn your emotional investment and will leave you smiling (most of the time, that is).

To make matters even better, the very talented David Aja and Matt Hollingsworth have produced gorgeous pages for of these stories. The two books are entirely praiseworthy, but if you had to pick one over the other, which Fraction epic would you side with and why? Hop into the poll and prepare to vote!

Chi or bro?
Chi or bro?

Haven't read either story or want to reread them before voting? No worries, the poll is open until Friday morning (ET)! That should give you more than enough time to think this one through and cast your vote. Additionally, that's plenty of time to rally support for the story you're siding with and chat with your fellow Viners about both runs. If your post is legitimately stellar, there's a chance we'll include it in Friday's article as the "Viner Post of the Week." Each Friday we highlight one post for each story, so be sure to get your elaboration on.

Last but most definitely not least, everyone bow down before the Comic Viner Sawcesome. They were the first person to correctly guess this match-up based on last week's teaser image and you should strongly consider throwing a party in their honor. Well done, Sawcesome.

Check the homepage on Friday to see which story won and why. In the meantime, feel free to make future match-up suggestions in the comments below or via Twitter.

One more day to vote. Please make sure you vote, explain why you picked one over the other (or haven't read either), and, if you're feeling up to it, spread the word. Thanks.

Very odd that the closest race yet has the worst traffic in the segment's short history :/

So that means the (comparatively) smaller population is most divided on this subject. Sounds like a fascinating research study waiting to be explored...bro.

Read Iron Fist and loved it, especially since I was a fan of the comic back in the seventies. The comments here, though, have inspired me to order Fraction's Hawkeye Vol. 1 from Amazon. Going into this having really liked Nicieza's run a while back but have fallen out of Marvel since Civil War. Hopefully this will get me back in.

I could never choose between the two true loves of my life.

Just seeing this makes me want to go back and re-read both series all the way through.

These are definitely 2 of my favorite Marvel projects possibly EVER, definitely the 2 that stick out as great contemporary projects (along with Abnett/Lanning's Guardians). I'm going with Iron Fist though

I'm not voting because I haven't read any of the Iron Fist stuff, but I adore Hawkeye. It's one of the best books available today, big two or otherwise.

This has been the toughest one yet. I love both series equally. But since Fraction had help from Ed Brubaker on Iron Fist, I voted Hawkeye.

If people are having a hard time deciding, then I'm going to have to pick up that Iron Fist run.

Honestly, so hard to choose. These two comics are two of my favorite runs in comic history. I spoke with Matt Fraction at HeroesCon last year about this same thing and how I can't really decide what I've liked better. The "bad" thing is that Fraction's done such a great job that if he actually came off the series (Hawkeye) then I wouldn't mind Marvel ending the comic or at least doing a new #1 for whatever new creative team took on Hawkeye. While not terrible, when Fraction left Iron Fist you could see a serious decline in what made the book special.

Great versus this week.

Thanks!
