Favorite Comic Runs: Andy Diggle's GREEN ARROW: YEAR ONE or THUNDERBOLTS

The twisted adventures of the evil Marvel team or the Emerald Archer's origin story?

Welcome to the Favorite Comic Runs' spotlight, Andy Diggle!

This week, we're taking a look at two thoroughly awesome runs by the writer: THUNDERBOLTS (#126-136) and GREEN ARROW: YEAR ONE. During his time with the infamous Marvel team, Diggle created a whole new roster for the group, brought Mr. X into the book, gave Songbird a bit of attention, and even included a crossover with Deadpool. And over at DC, Diggle revealed Oliver Queen's action-packed time on the island. This limited series showed us how Oliver transformed himself into Green Arrow and had fantastic artwork by Jock and David Baron. Both of Diggle's runs beg to be read, but we want to know which one you prefer and why. Do you love the chaos that went down in THUNDERBOLTS or is GREEN ARROW: YEAR ONE too iconic to lose?

@k4tzm4n: just not into really dark gritty art. where mike allred's art i got used to and eventually learned to love because of izombie and it girl, jock's never done it for me, sorry i like light and color lol and pretty things. i could deal with jock on something like losers but not my mainstream peeps (dick's run as batman pre-52) so hard to soak in whats going on with his imagery. and its not just jock other gritty artists are in the same boat, my mind/eyes just cant adjust to it to distinguish whats going on and i miss a lot of detail. though i loved g.i. joe cobra files the art ruined the series for me vs. g.i. joe is a far lesser book in terms of writting but that art man sigh. im just used to/like pretty art ala george perez, phil jimenez (my fav) and mike deodato (2nd fav).

Oh boy, it's now become a DC vs Marvel vote/thread. I'll be hiding in a barrel waiting for the shoot out to end.

Read 'em both. Not only is Year One a better story, it's a more influential story. His Thunderbolts run was sandwiched between Ellis and Parker. Two of the most loved runs in the history of the series. Unfortunately that makes Diggle's run easy to overlook.

GA:Year One. While his run on Thunderbolts was good it wasn't long enough to be truly great. And Jock drew GA: Year One plus it also gave us Arrow and the character of Diggle.
