Favorite Comic Book Video Games: 'Batman: Arkham Origins' vs. 'Injustice: Gods Among Us'

Both DC games are a ton of fun, but we want to know which one YOU prefer and why!

Every week, we here at Comic Vine ask our community about their favorite comic book runs, live-action and animated movies, and even TV shows. This week, we're going to ask you about something else: comic book video games! Seeing as Deathstroke has been selected as our latest Character of the Month, we're going to highlight two recent games which featured him: Injustice: Gods Among Us and Batman: Arkham Origins!

Now, let's get the obvious out of the way. Yes, these are two totally different genres. One is a third-person action/adventure game and the other is a fighting game. They're completely different experiences, but we want to know if you enjoy one more than the other. Did Arkham Origins impress you with its story and new content? Or perhaps Injustice had you addicted to its multiplayer and mastering combos with your favorite characters? Or maybe you can't choose and love them equally? Whatever your opinion may be, we want to hear from you!

Apologies to the Nightwing community.

You've got plenty of time to make up your mind, readers. The poll will remain open until early Friday (ET), so that should give you the opportunity to dive back into these games and really give this pairing some proper thought. How much of a role does the story play for you? What about the controls and combat? Replay value? Unlockables? Again, you have more than enough time to reflect on this one and chat with your peers about these two choices. And, in the unfortunate event that you haven't played either game yet, hopefully this will motivate you to finally check them out. So, what'll it be, Viners?

Check the homepage this Friday to see which video game wins and why. In the meantime, feel free to make future match-up suggestions in the comments below or tell us via Twitter.

This guy knows where it's at.

@teerack: Pretty sure that video is a joke. I feel the need to point that out because it wasn't a very funny one.

No he's making fun of the game by pointing out real issues with it in a funny way. That's just what doney does.

@teerack: You spelled "non" wrong. For some reason you spelled it like"real."

@teerack: i completely disagree with that review. he gave a brief summary oversimplifying everything to make it sound bad or his complaint didnt have any reasoning behind it. he must have been joking around.

See? People really do hold Arkham up as a master piece for some reason. I only get the games for the story because I'm a big nerd, but I'm very aware I'm playing the same mediocre game from 5 years ago.

Injustice easily as a further refinement of Neatherealm to tell a not too dissonant story through the fighting game genre on top of a solid (if a bit underdevloped in the main text) Superman gone bad story. Heck they even make sese how the Joker can fight Superman which is the kind of hilarious nerd stuff I hate but know others will get all in a tizzy.

You can't ask me to choose. That year was packed with kick-ass games!

Injustice is for me....

Hmmmm a good game (Injustice) vs a piece of crap video game (BAO)?

Posted by DrellAssassin

Injustice was a ton of fun, and Arkham Origins was pretty good too. But the decline in level design quality from City to Origins is noticeable enough to knock Origins down a few pegs, so I'll go Injustice.

Arkham

Posted by DaltonMunnal

Injustice. If it was up against Asylum or City it would lose, but Origins is a letdown, losing points automatically for not living up to it's predecessors.

I say Injustice, I love Arkham Origins, but was a bit disappointed that they didn't use Barbara or Dick as challenge map playable. Injustice included Dick and Barbara with Catwoman, Joker and Harley. I'm a Bat-Family fan only thing that disappointed about Injustice was no Tim or Jason. I also feel like Origins is a bit harder in certain areas than Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, its not that I don't like hard but there is a limit to how hard I like if I can't beat the villains then there is an issue, which is my case in the Bruce Wayne Campiagn

@teerack: Because it's a masterpiece. Form your own opinion. Don't jump on this a-hole's bandwagon.

So I'm an asshole for not thinking a game is good? That's an interesting way of warping things. There isn't any kind of bandwagon applicable to this situation since I'm the only one here who doesn't seem in love with the series...

Posted by JakeN7

@teerack: Oh is that you in the video? I wouldn't have known because you kept referring to yourself in the 3rd person. Go plug your crap somewhere else.

That's not me....

@teerack: ...ok. Then why when I told you to form your own opinions and not listen to the dumb video did you take personal offense and act like I'd called you an a-hole? Or was your reading comprehension just on the fritz?

It's cute you're trying to turn this around. Just using a video to better convey my point of view doesn't make my opinion illegitimate or less my own. You were trying to say I was an asshole for agreeing with that video. This is a text conversation you can't just pretend you didn't say things when it's right there. Trying to insult my comprehension of things really only makes you look like you don't understand how to phrase things since if you really weren't calling me an asshole(which lets be honest you totally were) you defiantly implied it.

Personal offense?... Well let's review things... I posted what I thought, and then you kept disagreeing with me... called me an asshole, and then insulted me by saying I had bad comprehension when I called you on it. One of us sure is getting personal about this, but I don't see how it's me.

Edited by JakeN7

@teerack: Why are you insisting that I called you an a-hole? I obviously called the guy in the video an a-hole. The subject of our conversation was the video you posted, and I said to you "Form your own opinion, don't jump on this a-hole's (the guy in the video) bandwagon."

Yes, your comprehension is off if you can't understand that.

Defiantly =/= definitely.

Posted by Teerack

@jaken7: *sigh* What do you want from me exactly? I already posted my opinion and I already voted in the poll. I honestly don't have time to be distracted by a little kid debate over the meaning of someone else's rudeness.

Posted by JakeN7

@teerack: I want you to form your own opinion instead of jumping on the a-hole in the video's (specific enough for you?) bandwagon.

Maybe an acknowledgement that you were dead fu%cking wrong about me calling you an a-hole, and you were busy being an over-reactionary, sensitive flower who was twisting my words and taking personal offense to an insult I threw at an entirely different person.

But yeah, your time must be super important to the Earth, so stop wasting it on dumb Internet debates where you're clearly wrong anyways.

I've had the same opinion on the Arkham games since I first played them. I only saw that video for the first time a few weeks ago. Just because you indirectly called me an asshole doesn't mean I was upset. I mean you seem to be getting pretty worked up, but I never really understood how people can care enough about a video game to get so worked up.

Edited by JakeN7

@teerack: You're a special kind of stupid aren't you? Here, I'll save us both a bunch of arguing, and just call you an a-hole now. I didn't call you one, but now you're being one, a-hole.

And you have terrible taste in video games. You probably just shouldn't play them.

If you can't learn to be impartial you should probably just not post in threads like this.

You were just being aggressive and insulting because you couldn't handle my point of view.

Posted by JakeN7

@teerack: No, it's because I couldn't handle your irrational accusations based on misinterpretations of what I said. I could care less what you think. I think it's a dumb video that the guy did as a joke. That's all I was ever getting at. I'm sure you'll find something in this post to be offended by though, so I eagerly await your eyeroll-inducing reply.

I don't know why you keep insisting I've been offended by anything you've said. -shrug-

@teerack: Because of post #24.

Just because someone says something insulting to you, and you're aware of it. It doesn't actually mean you're offend by it. I'm sure people insult you all the time online and you don't care.

Posted by JakeN7

@teerack: Except I didn't insult you, you chose to be insulted by something I said about another person. That shows me that you were offended. Especially when you typed up a big dumb paragraph falsely breaking down every grievance you have with me.

It's okay sweetheart, there's no need to be so upset.

@dccomicsrule2011: One of the dumbest Internet arguments I've ever been a part of. Only reason I'm coming back is because he consistently confounds me with his ridiculousness time and time again. It's a goddamn phenomenon.

I feel bad because I haven't been trying to antagonize you, but you seem to be getting more upset. Sorry, hope I didn't ruin your night. >.<

I loved both but I have to go with Injustice all the way, exposing me to new characters and with a great story Injustice was a great game which lead me to the new 52 and reading comics in general! I enjoyed Arkham Origins, didn't experience any glitches (quite lucky!) and on replay, I felt it was better the second time as well but it did have to live up to a tonne of hype from its predecessors.

If you need to read comics before playing the game for it to be good, then it's not good.

When you want to talk about the personality of a character without knowing any knowledge on him, you shouldn't be talking about it in your review.

Face it, the guy can't review worth crap. He says that all it takes to do combat is use one button when in reality that is completely false. Seeing as how the scene that he showed was close to the beginning of the game where the thugs weren't using any guns, knives or riot shields. He's just another reviewer that's feeding to the crowds that don't like anything that is considered successful because they see it as "overrated".

Posted by JakeN7
Posted by JakeN7

@mrtummytumms: And even then, Batman still looked like a fish out of water. He didn't even actually take any thugs down. I saw that and was like "yeah, if you only press one button, you're not going to do well. What's your point?"
