Fantastic Four Movie Rumors: The Thing & Director

Looks like Fox may be pushing the movie forward.

No Caption Provided
Last week we heard Fantastic Four movie rumors on the possibility of Adrien Brody or Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Mr. Fantastic along with Amber Heard as Invisible Woman and Kevin Pennington as Human Torch (I guess Alice Eve is being rumored as Sue Storm as well). I can't decide if the latest rumors is starting to make the casting interesting or just plain silly.

According to ComicBookMovie, it's now the Thing's turn to be possibly cast. A mysterious studio source has informed them that 20th Century Fox is "very interested" in getting Bruce Willis to voice their "completely CG Thing" as well as stand in for a couple of plain Ben Grimm scenes.

To add to the speculation, it appears that Willis isn't the only one possibly being considered for the Thing. Fused Film also threw in Kiefer Sutherland's name. Now I'm trying to envision Jack Bauer yelling "It's Clobbering Time! Get on the floor now!"

If that wasn't enough, there's more casting rumors.
 == TEASER ==
Let's hope this scene happens!
Let's hope this scene happens!
Over the weekend it was mentioned that Stephen Moyer from True Blood was being considered for Doctor Doom. You have to have Doom in a FF movie, right? All of these rumors come from the same mini-site at CBM. But no casting can be made official until a director is attached to the movie.

According to the same source, there are three directors that could direct this film. The three possible directors are Joe Carnahan (The A-Team, Smokin' Aces), David Yates (a few Harry Potter films) and James McTeigue (V for Vendetta and Ninja Assassin).

What I'm more interested in is what the plot will focus on and if it'll take place in current times or instead, in the 60s like a certain other comic book movie by Fox.

My biggest complaint about the previous films was that the Thing wasn't CG, so now that it's being said that he will be in this one, I'm actually looking forward to it. I think Bruce Willis would be a good choice for the voice too :)

Perhaps it'll be set sometime in the future as a sort of sequel.
Ben finds out his mental block, Reed becomes even smarter, Johnny gets a little more mature.
They thought they were done with the big guys, but then Doom takes control of seismic activity and makes creatures from the Earth (a movie version of Mole Man).
And at the end, have Sue finding out she's pregnant.

This still looks 54 billion times better than First Class. If Vaughan was directing this, the Human Torch would be the android version.

I still like the idea of a younger F4 though, Ultimate Fantastic Four is epic :D

I liked the previous films even though Alba and McMahon did't fit their characters anyway I think they should bring back Michael Chiklis to voice the Thing.

Doesn't seem such a bad idea so far.  I'll agree this looks miles better than First Fail Class.

@The Mighty Monarch:  Well let's hope the 3rd film isn't bad like the previous trilogies: Spider-Man 3, Batman forever and Superman 3. The third film seems to be where everything goes downhill. Let's hope that's not the case this time.

@Lvenger: Normally I'd be worried, but it's Christopher Nolan. Inception was excellent and The Prestige was a masterpiece. And he gets that 3D is 95% of the time bullshit or gimmicky. I'm be willing to let him make 7 more Batman movies no questions asked.

Any Marvel Comics based movie NOT by Marvel Studios DIRECTLY is suspect to me!!! In the end, while I would luv to see a GOOD film based on the FF... I just don't think it'll happen. And in the end we'll get a bad (while visually pleasing) Sue Storm, an average looking Thing and Galactus as freaking stormy weather again!!! :os

Bruce Willis voicing the Thing actually sounds like a pretty decent choice....it's early so I doubt that this will be final but who knows

DC may be making a bigger variety but only 2 of their movies have been successful and they're both Batman movies

Joe Carnhan would just kill the movie.  I hope they don't go with that.  Yates is very very good director and would bring good character development as well as some darkness and a nice vision to it.  I think he would make it the least the popcorn like.  McTeigue can go either way.  Ninja Assassin was just awful but V was pretty good.  I'd go witht Yates.  He's done well with the Potter films and has made the kid books about as adult like as he could go.

I just don't think these Fox and Sony movies will be able to stand up to Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. films.  Hopefully Fox and Sony will decide to leave the comic movie business and give the rights back to the pros.

Though I am not counting out First Class, Spidey, or FF yet... I'm just thinking about the dark pasts of these franchises.  It'll be interesting to see how they adapt to a market of higher quality Superhero films.

I would defiantly watch it it if Bruce Willis voiced the thing, the only problem is I think Bruce Willis would wined up beating Doom on his own and end up with Sue Storm himself.

They should do it like the new Spider-Man and use the Ultimate Comics and have younger actors.

tru but i think instead of rebooting properties that they clearly screwed up, they should make new movies with new characters such as iron fist, luke cage, dr strange, etc... even though dc comics hasnt generated massive amounts of $$$, they take chance going left and right instead of straight through.....losers,jonah hex=crap...,RED, WATCHMEN... soon green lantern, flash, maybe wonder woman...I GUESS THEY KNOW THEY SCREWED UP SUPERMAN SO THERE TAKING THERE TIME WITH EVERYTHING.. it wouldnt surprise me if they made a birds of prey flix....or legion of superheroes...idk...

Completely agree.  If there is one Marvel characters that absolutely should be CGI it is the Thing.  The Hulk will never be believable as CGI but a character with hard, inorganic surfaces is made for CGI.

All of the casting except Doom is spot on.   Adrien Brody or Jonathan Rhys Meyers would work but I would give the node to Meyers because I think he has more intensity.  Besides after his Tudors run if they ever decide to do the wife abuse story I would buy it.

They really need to re-think Doom.  Doom needs to be someone with serious gravitas and should be Russian/German actor to be fit the character.

None of the directors are really getting me excited.  When it  comes to James McTeigue, I tend to think the  Warshawski brothers as producers may have had more to do with why V-Vendetta was good.  Personally, I think they need to dig a little harder because I think the director seems to matter more than anything on comic book adaptations.  There has yet to be a good comic book adaption that didn't have an "A" class director on board.  All of the turkeys had B or C class directors (Xmen: The Last Stand,  X-Men Origins: Wolverine, FF 1 & 2, Daredevil,  Elektra, The Spirit and all of the pre-Nolan Batman films (yes Burton is a hack).

Adrien Brody as Mr Fantastic is perfect and I think any one of those picks for the Thing is great and also the casting for Invisible Woman is great as well. The casting is good but I don't know how they could do the story and them having Doctor Doom is not very good either.
