Exclusive: STORMWATCH #17 Preview

Is this the end of the Stormwatch Headquarters? Who will live and who will die?

Earlier today DC Comics gave us an exclusive look at the preview to STORMSHADOW #17 written by Peter Milligan and featuring art from Will Conrad. The characters in this series will be dealing with some pretty heavy issues as they will not only suffer the loss of their team's headquarters, but there is also a good chance one of them will be killed. To find out the entire story, however, you'll have to check out the issue which is scheduled to hit stores next Wednesday, February 6th 2013. For now, check out the preview for the issue below and let us know what you think!

@dewboy01: Aye. Since their claim to fame is that they're the gay Batman and Superman, it would be very unlikely for that aspect to change.

@dewboy01: they are still gay, and Apollo wanted a relationship, but the engineers said no relationship between stromwacth Bessemer and midnighter agreed with her

Also love the art but there's an inconsistency in it. On the first and fourth page Apollo is wearing short sleeves but on the second he's wearing a long sleeved body suit

This is one of my favorite comics every month. I wish Jack Hawksmoor was given a little more of the spotlight though.

Surprisingly, I actually thought this was a good preview (granted, that's by Stormwatch standards), and Midnighter is still coming off as the best character. AND, Jack. Hawksmoor. Actually. Did. Something. (Though, where the f#ck Projectionist came from is a mystery for the ages.)

yeah, he did something... but he's the one with the worst dialogue this time around :p I'd love for him to do more, but not if it's handled as clunkily as that. But I guess we don't have to worry about that for much longer.

I really like these characters but all of the stories have been sub-par so far.

@DoomDoomDoom: I'm actually picking up this book again. I dropped it after issue 9. I am pretty excited for the Starlin run.

Enjoyed Cornell's first arc and I've liked what Milligan has done so far. Not excited at all about Starlin.

@Jake Fury: Cornell was solid. Milligan has been decent. Paul Jenkins was atrocious.

Art-wise, Spedulveda was delightful, Conrad was serviceable, Calero's art was garbage.

Starlin is going to mix up the roster and hopefully move on from these past 17 issues. Here is some hints about the roster changes...

I'm questioning Yvel Guichet on art, but honestly I haven't seen much of his work.

@knighthood: I love Conrad's art, he's really underrated IMO. Sepulveda's is good but I just enjoy Conrad's more. I don't think I even read the issues with Jenkins. I can't imagine 2 issues gave him much to work with.

I'm not familiar with Starlin but it seems he doesn't have the best reputation with current fans. I'll give it a shot since I love the characters.

@Signs: .... Man, you would have hated the Authority. http://pics.livejournal.com/alchemy_hisoka/pic/007qdeyr.jpg It's the 21st century, probably about time you stop thinking of that as gross.

Wow. i have the EXACT OPPOSITE opinion on every one of the people you listed. I find Sepulveda's 'art' ruins everything he touches, in particular. He has no understanding of composition, storytelling or anatomy, and most of the details in his art are simply copy and pasted from photographs. I dropped Red Lanterns when he started on it, and I'm usually far more tolerant of putting up with art that i don't like than writing. (though Red Lanterns wasn't one of my favorites to begin with, but...)

@RayeGunn: That's funny because I was peeved when Sepulveda left for Red Lanterns. Sep's art is a little stiff and may suffer from greg-land-like treatments, but Calero was horrible. Conrad is an okay artist.

I know that last one doesn't show Sep's skill (or alledged lack thereof) but it reminds me of the grand cinematic style of the Authority, Planetary, and even some of Hickman's work on the Avengers.

Um Stormshadow #17? lol either way I love the original authority characters and Stormwatch has been ok but really this book needs a complete overhaul I'm sick of them not writing these characters right. Hawksmoore is barely even in the series or done anything for the last 17 issues. Hell none of them have done anything worth noting about. I miss the original Authority who took control of their lives and actually were doing changes to the world at large every issue of StormWatch has no impact at all.

No impact as in every issue seems to just deal with their inner circle rather than anything at large in the DCU. They claim to be around for years yet StormWatch wasn't aware of anything on a cosmic scale thats happened to Superman in the last 16 issues of both Superman comics and even Action comics and StormWatch is suppose to protect the world from alien threats, they haven't faced Helspont they haven't faced Brainiac or any of these cosmic level aliens.

I know in issue #19 the team is supose to go into another dimension so I'm unsure if StormWatch is finished or a new roster fills in even rumors of Lobo is suppose to be on the team after StormWatch 19. But seriously StormWatch needs to pick up I only started reading them because it had the Authority characters in it but they haven't done a single thing worth mentioning except fight amongest themselves.
