Exclusive Preview: WONDER WOMAN #7

Wonder Woman gains another ally in the fight against Hell and the wrath of Hera.

While the sixth issue of Wonder Woman focused on the character's ability to outsmart Poseidon, Hera and Hades; by the end of the issue things had taken a turn for the worse. After giving her all to protect Zola, the bearer of Zeus's unborn child and failing; it seems that Diana may have to increase her firepower to take back the girl she has sworn to protect.

In the seventh issue of WONDER WOMAN's ongoing series we are introduced to a brand new character, who also happens to be Hermes' nephew. Will this dashing, gun-toting young Italian man be the difference between Wonder Woman's success and failure? Issue #7 of WONDER WOMAN hits store shelves on Wednesday March 21st, 2012. Do you plan on placing this upcoming issue on your pull list?

Wonder Woman #7

Remember the myth of Orpheus? Wonder Woman certainly does. And we hope she's learned its lessons well, because someone she dearly loves is in Hell's clutches – and she's the only one who can mount a rescue mission! But Hades has no mercy, even for his own family – in fact, especially for his own family – and he doesn't intend to let her walk out of his domain without paying a terrible price!

well ( first) gonna be fun

I'd first like to voice my congratulations to you, Sara. I hope these changes lead to nothing but the best for you, Tony, and everyone who joins you in the move. Though seeing the Whiskey Family being fractured is a sad sight. I'm still concerned what will happen with the Anime Vice community and Rorie over on Screened.

This looks like a cool story. I like the combination of modern setting with Greek mythology. The art is nice, but I did notice one small thing. When Eros pulls his gun. Did anyone notice that he pulled the gun out of the right holster with his right hand? Using his right hand he'd more naturally pull it from the left.

I'm actually digging the look on Wonder Woman's outfit.

Sure, I'll read it.

I hate the art

@FoxxFireArt: I noticed it right off, and it is very odd that it would be drawn that way. You'd think the artist would understand better how awkward it would be to pull the right hand side holstered weapon with the right hand, versus left. Irritating.

the deeper I get into these new 52 books the more I want to remove some of them from my pull list.

Eros seems like a badass. Loving Wonder Woman's series so far.

It's not so much the series that bothers me, it's the quality of the series and how they seem to go down on a weekly basis (minus swamp thing, animal man, and batman) I have tried to read the latest issue of action comics about 5-6 times because I had no idea what the hell was going on. Then batwoman I was really invested in it and then they swap artists like we're not going to know. Same for batwing, just a bunch of crummy tactics to make deadlines I'm not too happy about. The artists for wonder woman changed for an issue as well. I'm not really interested in this series too much but I keep reading it hoping that maybe something is going to draw me towards the series and make me care. More or less I want to find out what happens to the girl carrying Zeus's child.

This series is actually really awesome. There's a huge focus on Greek mythology like no other Wonder Woman comic has done before. It kinda reminds me of a Greek Thor. You won't regret picking this one up.

Oh, yes please! :)

I'm really liking this series and I think that it's doing justice for Wonder Woman. I can't wait for March 21.

I think it would only be natural for things to vary greatly from week to week. For example, I felt the story was getting worse in Detective Comics at the start of the Penguin arc but this past week as the arc ended, I actually felt it tied the whole story up together for me and the story actually turned out better than I thought.

While Atkins is a good replacement...I really do favor Chiang.

@MonkeyToe: First, I completely agree with your Detective critique. I was going to drop it this week, and then it was good again. Argh! Tony Daniel!!

Second, being a Greek mythology buff I am in love with Wonder Woman right now. While I do agree that they need to develop her character more, I see it being fleshed out a bit at a time during the arc.

I can't wait for this to be collected in Trade! I don't usually collect Wonder Woman but this series just looks so aweosme!

Posted by PhoenixoftheTides

I am having a great time following Wonder Woman now! I don't like some of the re-designs for the gods and goddesses (especially Hermes), but this series is being handled very well so far. And I really like the textured look of Wonder Woman's armor!

I'm kinda curious why is that? Are you not enjoying the books? Which book do you plan on removing?

Posted by MonkeyToe

: Yeah, it was on my chopping block too until this issue. Surprisingly, I came away with a new found respect at just how devious the Penguin is instead, lol.

Glad to see a Wonder Woman comic finally getting in the Greek mythology more. Have yet to read the series, but does anyone know if there gonna add her non-mythical villains or not?

I'm so disappointed with Eros/Cupid's design...i REALLY liked the designs for most of the gods so far...and i expected so much more for Eros/Cupid...it really falls flat imo...

I actully am curious about this series. Maybe I'll read the graphic novel one of these days...

Oh well, different strokes for different folks. Personally, I like my superheroines and villainesses to look dangerous and capable. I don't really look for sexiness in them.

"Bellezza e la bestia" Means NOTHING. In Italian "Bellezza" is Beauty itself. "La Bella e la bestia" is the right translation of "Beauty and the beast"

Love the Eros design. Chiang's been killing it on re-imagining the gods. And Azz' personalities he's given each of them has been highly impressive. Can't wait to get my hands on my copy.

@zackattack529:

It's tied for my third favorite New 52 book. And it's in my top 10 favorite monthly series. Start with issue one. Here's a few of my thoughts on it.

Posted by davidgrantlloyd

Wonder Woman remains on my pull list. It's one of the best examples (along with Action Comics and Aquaman) as to why The New 52 had to happen.

Glad to see Cliff Chaing's artwork back -- kinda missed it over the last 2 issues!

Well, some of us actually read her for her adventures, rather than the booty and titties.

Wait, Nathan Drake's part of the DC Universe now?

@JonesDeini: what's your first two favorites and the one tied with Wonder Woman?
