Doesn't this kind of undermine the importance of Ma and Pa Kent to his origin? If he was already caring and empathetic doesn't that mean they didn't instill those ideals into him like past incarnations?

Posted by Dstick88

how many times have we seen origins for superman.......

Posted by Captain13

I hope they finally elaborate on Robin's Rastafarian background.

Posted by patrat18

Nice.

Posted by micah

skipping this, till we see some of the secondary characters (Tim Drake, Starfire, Grifter, ect.)

Posted by Kal'smahboi

I'll read this, but I don't expect anything special.

Posted by Outside_85

If they were going to have a book like this, why the devil don't they feature the origins of characters that doesn't have one yet?

Posted by CrazyScarecrow

That was fun to read even if I did know the story on how he became Superman. And I totally want that Robin cover. I kinda want to pick this comic up. I wish for the main cover though the artists would've thought of someway to include Superman, Supergirl, and Robin. Kinda like the original Secret Origins series used to try to include all the characters spotlighted in the book.

4.99 per issue?!?! Ha, no thank you.

Because it's time for RETCOOOOOOOOOOOOOONS!

Lee Bremejo is effin' amazing. That cover is the best new52 Superman has looked.

Posted by Lvenger

This looks alright. If nothing else, it might fill in some continuity gaps for the lesser heroes of the New 52 DCU.

Starfire's in #2 and Red Robin's in #3.

Superman and Supergirl’ extended origins – count me in for the first issue.

Cool.

Edited by ClawFist

Um, okay. I don't wanna see the 3rd or 4th New 52 origin of the greatest superheroes. I wanna start seeing the awesome origin's of the mediocre or B-List superheroes and villains. Mhm. Hey, gimme some WildStorm, that universe was merged into DC's right? Cause right now I can't tell the difference between New 52 and Pre-52, just seems like the same Batman / Superman / Justice League stuff.

@micah: I'm gonna at least wait till issue 3 and hope there are some good changes in store for Tim Drake.

@captain13:say what?

@cobra88king8: well when ya say it like that

SAME STUFF...same stuff...it time to open a new chapter and create some new characters...or get secret origins on lesser known but popular villans and not so big characters...

I have no idea what the premise for this story is but it looks cool as hell

Still milking the same few stories for all the cash they're worth, huh? I swear to god if Batman is in the next issue I will just loose it.

4.99 per issue?!?! Ha, no thank you.

@avenging_x_bolt: I hope they don't change his personality too much. I liked how their was a strong emphasize on his scientific, tactical, cunning mind.

Posted by Croi

I bet we're gonna end up hatin' some of shit shit. Especially a well-established character's "new" origin.

Um...here's the cover for issue two...

Secret Origins #2

@arturocalakayvee: Like Lobdell being given another chance to ruin Tim Drake?

Let's hope he gets it right this time.....who am I kidding......he won't.

Posted by thewalkingdeadpool18

@clawfist: It's DC don't hold your breath on that.

@micah: If they give us those character it will be the most character debolpment and spotlight those characters alone have gotten in years. But the way Starfire is now being a massive slut i would rather just pretend she doesn't exsist until the retcon her new behavior.

@dstick88: Too many to count

@cobra88king8: It's New 52 are you shocked? Lets retell Batman and Superman a thousand times.

So DC still doing what i've been saying for a long time now. Same old Bat-Family and Sups-family focuse the other main 4 Justice Leaugers and then screw every other character right? Because Superman/Sups family and Batman/Batfamily haven't had enough focus in the New 52 right? The New 52 is basically just those characters. If i heard it's good i'll pick up the trade but this just isn't wortth a 4.99 when it's the same bull we've been getting from DC since the reboot.

Posted by NukeA6

What's with DC and character origins? Don't they think we'd had enough of it by now? I think it's pretty clear that Superman is a survivor of a destroyed planet and was raised on Earth while Batman had his parents gunned down. Scrap the origins and move on.

You don't see Marvel making a bunch of stories about Spider-Man or Hulk getting their powers.

@avenging_x_bolt: Don't get your hopes up. For some reason, Lobdell is doing Tim's origin again. Ah man, I just reminded myself. WTF DC!?

*commits suicide*

5 bucks for a comic book origin story that most of the population knows about? Nope, not buying it. We all ready know Sup's origin story, I don't see as to why they keep redoing it no matter how flashy and new things they put into it. If it's for a character that we barely know about or a new character, then yes sure.

Definitely won't be reading until they include some characters not yet elaborated on.

Response to both: now, see, I would be pissed...if I wasn't so sure that's Lee Bermejo illustrating. (Is it?)

I'll pick up the third issue. Jeff Lemire's writing Green Arrow's origin in it, and I'm curious to see what he does with it.

But, other than that, I have the same general complaint as everybody else: Give some new or lesser-known characters the spotlight, even if for just a minute.

Posted by Munsu

I can understand using Robin and Superman. They've been heroes for over 5+ years and we really don't know what is still in continuity and what isn't anymore with them as they decided to start their New 52 universe 5 years in and skipped a bunch, but Supergirl's entire New 52 book has been one big origin story. it started with her crashing on Earth. You can't start any earlier than that.

I think they could start Supergirl's origin on Krypton. It would be nice to go with Dick from where he was born, most everyone knows the story of his parents death, I'd like to see further back than that, and Superman well we could just see him grow up into Superman.

Posted by mak13131313

Definitely picking this up. The art looks sweet!

Posted by RustyRoy

This is actually a great idea, using big names to promote other characters. I'll be picking up the 2nd issue, might pick up this one too.

Posted by ArturoCalaKayVee

@amazingwebhead: Correct but Lee is only doing the covers. The interiors are "PAUL PELLETIER, SEAN PARSONS, PAULO SIQUEIRA and others"
