Exclusive Preview: RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #16

With Jason Todd and Tim Drake captured by the Joker, Roy Harper tries to lead the Outlaws and Teen Titans.

With Death of the Family underway, Joker has targeted all of Batman's closest allies. Last month he managed to capture both Tim Drake and Jason Todd. When the Teen Titans discovered their leader was missing, they made their way to Gotham City. Joker was expecting this and in their search, they've actually played right into his hands in helping unleash his poison upon some residents, turning them into Joker-zombies. Now Roy Harper is doing his best to find and save his friend while also trying to lead a bunch of kids with silly codenames.

DC Comics has given us an exclusive preview for next week's issue.

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #16

• “DEATH OF THE FAMILY” continues here!
• Ties in to this month’s TEEN TITANS #16!
• Tim Drake and Jason Todd have to survive a confrontation with The Joker and stop their respective teams from killing each other.
• Considering how well they have worked together in the past, that shouldn’t be a problem, right? RIGHT?

Nice to see Roy taking charge.

I've loved the first 10 issues of this.. but the art now is looking horrid..looks like saturday morning cartoons for 13year olds. im finishing reading this after DOTF.. unless they bring back Kenneth Rocafort or someone like him

I miss Rocafort.

I loved Timothy Green II on the Starlord mini, but this looks lacking.

@luisaraujo: As of issue 19 Mico Suayan will be drawing it. He's the guy doing the covers of 17, 18 and 19.

Those covers are Badass, Especilly the last one

makes no sense they search out batgirl for help who barely gives them any and then there completely adversarial towards arsenal who is trying to do nothing but help

ROCAFORT! Wish he was still on Red Hood...hope the book doesn't go downhill after Lobdell leaves.

@Madame_Mist: Who doesn't? =]

@namtabmi: Well, James Tynion IV will be writing it after Lobdell, so I don't think it's going to take much of a quality hit.

@Weave16: that look promising!

It's getting better and better and better. These are brilliant!

What about Suayan? Is he only doing the cover or the main (new) artist teaming up with Tynion IV?

I have really been enjoying Scott Lobdell on Red hood, Not so much on teen titans but if James Tynion gets a little help from Scott Snyder my interest is still there.

Looks like a fun read. I cant wait to see how DoTF affects this book, I really want to see the team become more important in the DCU. I really have liked Lobdell's work in the new 52 alot.

you know, the art isn't great... but im so glad they are not hunting demons anymore... i just felt like this was the wrong team for that

Worst artwork ever.

@GRIM_DADDY: he's been wearing the hat the entire series, but ya this isnt Green's book, though he came through with art when we needed him so give him credit where credit is due. Mico is taking over and his solicits are boss

I love Mico Suayan's style and can't wait for his art.

I have to say this and Teen Titans have kind of let me down as far as their death of the family tie ins. I don't really know how to explain it but it doesn't have that kind of oomph! The other tie ins have had with me. Besides that both comics have been nailing it in my opinion.

Posted by Reignmaker

The Lobdell/Green combination was just enough to scare me away from this series. We'll see what the next team cooks up.

Posted by JakeN7

Eww. That art is awful. And don't tell me that stupid Arrow ad at the top is back. I will be so pissed....what's the point!? So ugly! I like the show, but damn.

cover is awesome

@DarkKnightDetective: Just her? Look at that Bart!

Posted by DEGRAAF

After seeing even just this preview i hope they work together more. I like the 2 way door of trust and skepticism. Also maybe we would get more background information on What Starfire, Arsenal and their old group use to be up to at the Teen Titans age as well as if they ever called them selves by a team name

I don't need Joker in the Red hood comics :P

Happy to see arsenal taking a lead. Also the point on meta's relying on powers is logical

Posted by JillGr

@luisaraujo: I agree. I miss his work on this title

The cover is awesome, I'm not too crazy about the interiors though. Also I'm not too happy about it tying in with Teen Titans. I gave that series a chance but the countless tie-in books made it a pain in the neck to follow and honestly I didn't really enjoy the story either. Red Hood has been mostly solid so far. These last few Lobdell issues will hopefully be good. Though even if they suck I'm still gonna hang in there to see what James Tynion does with the series.

Green's just not Rocafort I tell you but, still nice all the same.

Aye, Rocafort's missed, but Lobdell has made me a fan of these characters (and, I suppose, of him). I guess I'm about to find out whether it's them or him that's kept me reading.

In general, I didn't feel like a crossover with this particular book and DotF was necessary. I was enjoying just how little Red Hood felt like a Bat book. *shrug*

Posted by soumya

@DonFelipe: From issue 19 Suayan is taking the job of the main penciller.

Posted by MyComicStoreDotNET

Between Lobdell's average writing (seriously, in a back-up story he completely altered how/why Todd became Robin. A BACK-UP STORY), and Green's uninspiring pencils, the Tynion-led creative team can't come on soon enough for me.

Edited by CrimsonAlchemist

@luisaraujo: My gosh if you believe the art in this book is bad you haven't seen bad art. Take a look at some of Romata jr's, Steve Dillon's or Liefield's work now that fits your description of crappy art.
