Hate to say it like this, but do you know what would be cool? If Sam's dad is a traitor & killer, if Richard Rider came back & kicked Sam's dad's ass, & then Rich became Sam's mentor while resuming his role as the Nova Centurion Prime. Win-win for Nova fans everywhere right?

As cool as that would be. I kind of want to see Richard Rider to come back in a rage wanting revenge on Star-Lord and Thanos and maybe kick the crud out of the Avengers and the Surfer and other impressive things along the way since all the earth heroes are extremely ignorant of Richards power level.

Really digging this book.

I agree- I would love for Rich to get more respect. I love in the DnA Nova series Tony Stark was concerned about a being with a high-power level coming to Earth, & was surprised when it turned out to be Rich. Not only in his power level, but his skill- he was out in space, leading the charge against Annihilus & other forces(even being the one to kill Annihilus & fighting Galactus) & proving himself a true hero while the Civil War was going on on Earth- behaving like a true hero when many heroes were behaving very unheroically. I'd love to see him come back & prove his heroism & gain the respect of the MU fans already have for him.

Gee, the art's gone downhill after Ed McGuinness (I guess Paco Medina was good, though). And why is Rocket still wearing that stupid red and blue uniform? The Guardians haven't worn it in years.

Not only that but I feel like it would be good for fans to see what Rich can actually do. Richard is someone who could very seriously kick Thor's ass if he tried, but just like the characters in marvel no one is really away of just how strong Nova Prime is. When he got possessed way back in Secret Avengers I think Valkyrie summed it up pretty great saying "He's stronger then ME?" she was shocked that Richard was way out of her league, and to add to that when Cap recruited him his pitch was actually "It's time to join the big league." and Richard was just like "what the hell does he think I've been doing?" in his inner monologue later on in the book when he was on the moon.

I didn't exactly read when Nova Prime was stuck in the Cancerverse (Is that where it is?), so would you happen to know what comic that happens in?

I think we can all agree Rich Rider deserves more respect and with the Nova Corps showing up in Guardians if the Galaxy maybe well get to see him on the big screen soon and hell get the attention he deserves in the comics.

Exactly. I love how Brubaker wrote that in Secret Avengers. (The best incarnation of SA, IMO) He had spent so long trying to prove that he was ready for the big leagues(during the original Nova series, New Warriors, etc.)- but the truth was, he was already there- that potential was in him, & brought out during Annihilation- no longer was he a rookie, but a veteran of more than one intergalactic conflict. A capable hero & leader, imbued with the power of the entire Nova Corps, power that he used & managed wisely, because he was a good guy from Long Island. I found him even more relatable than Peter Parker really- he wasn't the nerdy kid, or the jock, or the cool kid- he was just an average guy, who through chance was given the potential to become something so much more, & in the Dna series we got to seem him reach that level of greatness- a greatness that the new incarnation of Nova lives in the shadow of. It would be awesome for Rich to have this huge comeback that garners the respect & inspiration that his character evokes, both power-wise & in his skill & personality traits.

It's too bad they didn't hold off Infinity until after his return because I think it would have been a really great time for him to shine since he is know and respected by all of the different galactic empires and could have been seen in a different light by the avengers who were just standing in the crowds of forces from misalliances worlds, while Nova might have actually had a seat at the table.

Exactly. An event like Infinity would've been the perfect time for him to make a comeback & return in a big way, in a huge cosmic moment. That would've made Infinity for me. I feel like maybe that's the way Rich needs to come back- his greatness was realized in a huge cosmic event, Annihilation, which expanded & popularized the too-often neglected cosmic side of the Marvel Universe in a big way- & I feel that now, with the GotG film coming out, expanding the MCU on a cosmic level, would be the perfect time for him to return- but in a major way, in a major role dealing with a cosmic crisis that shows Earth heroes such as the Avengers that while in deep space, he grew far beyond the neophyte hero they once knew, into an intergalactically respected force through his heroic actions, opposing threats like Thanos on a regular basis, & even becoming a leader in the United Front.

You're aware of Guardians of the Galaxy 18 right?

ORIGINAL SIN TIE-IN!

• You know you want to know how Star-Lord got back from the Cancerverse.

• And didn’t Nova go in there with him? Guess he’s not into the whole “no man left behind” thing.

I wouldn't say Richard lost his big chance if you remember in three months "time runs out" as all of this incursion stuff that Marvel has been building since the very first Marvel NOW titles dropped comes to a focal point. For all we know incursion can be caused by the cancerverse getting too full again and not being able to breach into other universe anymore because its sealed, so its pushing other universe into other universes.

Oh yeah- I'm hoping Bendis handles this well. One thing I can say about him, Bendis has been alluding to the fact that Rich is somewhere- from comments he's made, he's implying he's still alive somewhere, & he has to be for Sam to get his Nova powers, since the Nova Force is within Rich. I agree- I've been thinking about the incursion stuff as well, dealing with all these encroaching universes, & I've also thought that would be a perfect way to bring Rich back, & in a manner very similar to what you present. I'm hoping that GotG 18 has a good payoff, & that if it doesn't bring Rich back, it at least sets into motion events that will make way for his return. I also hope it's not done in a way that makes Star-Lord look like a douche(just really starting to like the guy), leaving Rich behind(which wouldn't make sense with the friendship they had in the DnA books)- if it turns out that way, I'll develop a dislike for Quill & hope Rich comes back just so he can kick his ass.
