Exclusive: Images From TEEN TITANS #7 Reveal Future Plans

Check out what these 'leaked' pages reveal about the next issue.

Someone dropped these pages into our email box this morning and we couldn't believe our luck! Sure, they look like the work of TEEN TITANS artists Brett Booth, Norm Rapmund and Andrew Dalhouse... but could these be the actual unlettered pages from TEEN TITANS #7?!

We went to long time Comic Vine fan (and occasional contributor) Scott Lobdell for confirmation. And, okay, maybe a few hints about what it is we're looking at.

No Caption Provided

Comic Vine: Scott, are these pages authentic?

Scott Lobell: I'm not sure if I should say this or not on the record, but -- yes, those are pages from TEEN TITANS #7! I can tell you one thing, though, that as amazing as these pages are...the rest of the pages that make up this story are even more exciting! Honestly, Brett and the guys have pulled out all the stops to make Teen Titans one of the most gorgeous and energetic books on the market today!

== TEASER ==

CV: We know from the solicits that the Teen Titans go head to head with N.O.W.H.E.R.E. in order to rescue Superboy. Is that why Bunker and Skitter seem to be leaping into a nest of N.O.W.H.E.R.E. soldiers?

SL: Exactly! And I couldn't be more proud of the two of them! They may be be new to the whole super hero thing, but in their own way they are both committed to the Teen Titans, suicide mission notwithstanding. (I have to say this for Bunker, though, despite the odds against him he still hasn't lost that smile! Judging from Skitter, Miguel's enthusiasm must be infectious.)

CV: Kid Flash and Red Robin on a New York Bridge after hours, apparently testing Bart's powers after his near death experience last issue. Got all that. But what is he holding in his hands in that panel?

SL: Well, I don't want to give away anything important, but -- as near as I can recall the plaque says something about the tired and the poor.

No Caption Provided

CV: So nearly destroying Times Square and Central Park, and cutting a battleship in half wasn't enough, Kid Flash is now vandalizing national parks?

SL: Kids!

No Caption Provided

CV: On the next two pages we see Red Robin in all his leadership goodness, trying to make a sale to the Teen Titans to go save Superboy?

SL: You're good! You should be an editor! Or at least an inspector for Scotland Yard!

CV: You're changing the subject.

SL: I will just say that, yeah, Tim's pitch doesn't go over very well. You have to remember, the first time they met Superboy he beat them pretty severely and left them for dead. While Tim is willing to forgive in order to accomplish the greater good of taking down N.O.W.H.E.R.E. with Superboy's much needed help -- the rest of the team isn't convinced its necessary.

No Caption Provided

CV: While we have you here, can you confirm whether or not Static Shock is going to be joining the team?

SL: Well, I know it was announced at the Florida Con, but to be honest it was the first I had heard about it. But although the membership is already high on the team, nothing would make me happier than Virgil joining the Teen Titans!

CV: And Raven? A few months ago you mentioned she'd be in the books right about now. Can we assume the crossover has delayed her arrival?

SL: Something delayed her, but it wasn't the crossover! It turns out DC has much bigger plans in store for the character and when you hear what they are you'll understand why she's too big for our little book!

CV: I guess we could spend the rest of the day asking about once and former Teen Titans?

SL: Yes, but lets talk about my burning envy of Howard Mackie! He gets to use Fairchild, Terra and Beast all on the same team, THE RAVAGERS -- with Rose Wilson in hot pursuit! No fair! No fair, I say!

CV: Anything else you want to add?

SL: Just that I want to apologize to all the ComicViners I disappointed by not answering my last round of "Scott Lobdell Wants Your Questions -- the Holiday Edition"! I had the best of intentions, but I've been so overwhelmed with work lately -- if Editorial knew I was running around giving interviews all over town instead of writing... oh, the trouble I'd be in!

CV: Well we certainly don't want that. But we are looking forward to getting those questions asked someday! Until then, thanks for clearing up the mystery about these Teen Titan pages.

SL: You're more than welcome! And keep in mind, Brett and the rest of the art team has skipped ahead past issues 8 and 9 to work on the Annual! So if you're as blown away as am by these pages.... you're going to pass out when you see the first chapter of the Culling crossover!

The art is great and the writing has been good too. Scott has taken his time to establish his characters, the situation they are going trough and the antagonist in an entertaining way without being boring. However its time to get past this N.O.W.H.E.R.E. and into other villians. If there is something I have to criticize about the New 52 is that the first arcs are taking forever. This was meant to be introductory arcs and should have been fast paced and entertaining...at least until they got readers hooked. Afterwards they could have gone into the six issues story arcs...just saying...

I just finished reading this issue and I loved it! They do seem like teenagers and I'm slowly growing to accept each characters changes and also the new characters (not so much of Skitter but she's okay). I like how Brett's art looks so much better compared to the first issue, it really stands out and Dalhouse really compliments the art as well. Lastly, the Cliffhanger.... who's the Omen? hopefully Lilith Clay?

Why does this book look like it stepped out of Image circa 1996? I'm not saying the art is bad, I'm just saying that the character designs themselves look like something that was thought up in the good 'ole 1990's. Needless to say, this is one book I will not be picking up. Looks way to much like Liefield had to much say on this one.

I am so disappointed with the DCnU. All the stories I liked that got me into comics now don't matter and the new stories have little (if anything) to do with them. If this was DC's Ultimate universe, I'd be fine with it. A new spin on the characters, while the originals got to go on to continue the tales they were building

I really can't wait for the issue where Barry Allen wakes up with the rest of the league starring at him as he say "Oh man. I just had the weirdest dream. I stopped Flashpoint, but then everything was different. And you were there, and you, and you..."

On a side note, anyone else wonder why Lodell referred to him as "Beast" and not "Beast Boy"? think they might be officially changing his name or was it just an abbreviation?

<--- Look at this picture. I'm sorry but it just bothers me. That's an impossible pose to shoot an arrow, he's grabbing the whole thing with his tiny fist, his other arms is stretched strangely across his chest, and just everything about his body pose is off. And a lot of those muscles look imaginary.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6pfuhUFs52Q/TVr8XMjAO2I/AAAAAAAADt8/m4NtNz99q0U/s1600/jlav2_54_dylux_-1-copy.jpg Look at this picture and tell me you see nothing wrong. All of their bodies are weirdly elongated, their faces are too big for their heads and Superman's chest is all droopy, and he's got tiny little hands. Flash looks good though.

3. Sorry you didn't like my stuff? I'd take your opinion more seriously if you weren't just violently yelling at me.

5. Wow, pure douchebaggery, really, you're going to thank other people for disliking my work? How small of you.

Geeze. Yeah. Ekimus81 passed 'out of line' a while ago and is still pushing. Sorry for his attack=/

You're actually not wrong about that Green Arrow pose being off. That's semi forgivable though since it's possible he just isn't that familiar with archery. His schedule probably didn't permit him to do the necessary research to get a perfect pose. I'm sure the average person can't find any fault with the pose though. I've just seen way too many episodes of Robin Hood(1955) to miss it=P

Damn. That JLA pic looks bad too. To be honest, I haven't really seen all that much of his stuff aside from his Anita Blake covers, but when I was looking at what you were saying and then looking at the pics posted in the preview in the article above I was like...wtf?! Because the images above are pretty spot on anatomically speaking. He's got dynamic anatomy down really well too. In fact...that's probably when his anatomy is MORE on the mark=P Speaking of, since you're a student I'm wondering if you have the book Dynamic Anatomy by Burne Hogarth? It's a really great resource that I can not recommend highly enough.

@Ekimus81: I wouldn't call basic human anatomy a small issue. I agree my comment was "disrespectful" but i was being honest. From personal experience, the honest truth/opinions about someone's work is the best way for improvement. Sugar coating it isn't always the best option. Which you seemed to have no problem with when you were talking about My art. As for the time/energy spent on his work, I respect when any artist puts forth effort and gets a positive result. But Booth himself said he did that Green Arrow drawing really fast at the last minute, that was his excuse when a professional archer called him out on that image. Instead of owning up to his lack of research on the subject, he told the guy to fuck off and sounded very unprofessional to me. V

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/08/25/brett-booth-is-our-hero/

Nerd rage at others' nerd rage is the single greatest waste of energy i could think of. Haters gonna hate. I'm sure if you were disappointed in the direction and creative team of the characters you grew up with, which i'm sure you have been in the past, you would want to complain too.

Are there a list of rules I should read? Or should everyone just check with you before they post a comment and make sure it doesn't ruin something for you? There's dozens of news stories I think are exciting, like the new 52, and people were furious about it. But i thought it was a great concept and I got excited about what I wanted to be excited about and was bothered by things that bothered me. (coughHarleyQuinncough). Don't let people get to you and you will do well* in life

@Mbecks14:

Ok so lets start with your first statement and why I got angry in the first place. This was your words "Still waiting on a real artist".....As an statement that was rude and I take it to heart because you have NO idea how long this guy is been drawing or the dedication his putting into this for everyone to enjoy. As a comic book collector you should know that. Instead of making a comment like that you should have thought of something different and state that you don't enjoy his work in Teen Titans and that his anatomy is off balance for your taste.

You don't have to like Bretts art but if you say your going to art school to be an artist be RESPECTFUL of other artists. I know this sounds like Brett Booths is my favorite artist and his not really in my top 5 favorites but his in my list of good artist I like. And I have a certain respect for him and hope that other people do.

If I did sound high and mighty is because every time I read news of comics books, there are people like you that ruined the news. Instead of reading news and then the post something positive is all negative and that upsets me to the point, I'm tired of being quiet. If people like you have the power to complain about a small issue as anatomy then i have the power to return the favor. If you respect people you will receive respect in return. Is really that simple.

Opinions about comic book writers and artist is something and being rude and offensive is other so learn the simple rules and you will do good in life.

@Ekimus81: You need to relax.

1. I'm still a student so there's one reason I'm not in the "big leagues"

2. I understand some people have different taste in art. And yeah his style might match your tastes, but am I not allowed to complain because i DON'T like his art just because YOu do?

No Caption Provided

<--- Look at this picture. I'm sorry but it just bothers me. All of their bodies are weirdly elongated, their faces are too big for their heads and Superman's chest is all droopy, and he's got tiny little hands. Flash looks good though.

Those things bother me. And some other guy posted some newer pen drawings that he's done that are actually pretty good and I liked them. But i still don't like his art. And i don't have to.

3. Sorry you didn't like my stuff? I mean a lot of people usually do. It's not perfect, Batman turned out really strangely in that one picture. I'd take your opinion more seriously if you weren't just violently yelling at me. You clearly have issue with me, so your opinion is already biased and you'll automatically dislike it. I do have a long way to go thanks, I still have 4 years until I graduate.

4. I was making a point that you sound a little high and mighty yourself, saying that nobody else should be giving their opinions on a comic book. I'm sure we're all equally nerdy. But my disappointment with the Titans is just as relevant as your enjoyment. And thus, we discuss it. I'm tired of whiny comic fans too, but only when their complaints are illegitimate. Or they cry about any single change. I complain when i think there is a legitimate problem. I think the internet and these forums prove that it is Everyone's turn to speak.

5. Wow, pure douchebaggery, really, you're going to thank other people for disliking my work? How small of you. Other people did say they liked my work, even if they still like Booth's.

What sense do i need knocked into my head? That I should love brett booth's art? That i shouldn't complain about it if I don't like it? Sorry if my opinion offended you?

Well thanks for your so great opinion. Everyone is entitled to make their own opinion and I don't mind to hear or read it as long is a constructive and helpful opinion. But I'm so tired of people like you and yes arrogance is a good word. So how about next time you think in criticizing good artist keep your opinion to yourself. Oh wait I forgot are you an artist? Then why haven't you make in the big leagues yet if you think you are that great? Hmmmmmmmmm..........

The fact that your sorry because I like Brett Booth art shouldn't matter. I like good artist and not poor ones. I think I would worry when people start liking your art because. Well I wasn't IMPRESSED AT ALL!. Sorry and good luck on your quest to be in comic book world. Oh wait you have long way to go.

Yes I might sound like a whinny comic book nerd or geek. But then why you contradict yourself? LMAO. "But until you become a bigger comic-nerd than the rest of us then i think you should open your mouth and give opinions" - I gotta say I have earned my respect as comic book geek and thats why Im speaking out loud because IM TIRED OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU!...... so again thanks so much for expressing and sharing your opinion just learn to speak when is your turn

- Thanks for you opinion on Mbecks14 art.

Most definitely will :D But i guess if you need to be a professional in an area to give/have an opinion on an artist...then nobody should be saying anything? :/ that's a bummer.

I'm pretty sure everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Sorry if you like his art, maybe his style is your taste. But I see a lot of glaring problems with his work and I just don't like it. Maybe you dislike an artist I like. I'll apologize again for sounding so arrogant but I was defending myself and my opinion. Which I'm entitled to.

You sound like any other whiny comic fan. Yeah nobody likes all the irritating comic nerds who stomp around because they don't get their way, but that's never gonna stop. Everyone has their opinion and they should voice it. But until you become a bigger comic-nerd than the rest of us then i think you should open your mouth and give opinions...wait...

Dear Babies;

Im sooooooo tired of people freaking criticizing Teen Titans when to me if you dont like the book DON'T FREAKING BUY IT is that simple. The new 52 it wasn't for everyone to love. I in particular was looking forward to I,Vampire but I hate the artwork and decide not buy it in my collection of new comics. If you dont have something cronstructive to say SHUT THE HELL UP! I know there are many Teen Titans fans and classic fans of the original group but the new 52 is something different. Cyborg is now part of Justice League I didnt like that and im still not fan of the idea but im giving it a chance to see where they take that idea. Starfire is part of The Red Hood and the Outlaws which i think is a great book. I love to read the news about comics but sooooo tired of the comic book geeks, and nerds to freaking butch and complain about them get the F/&% over yourself since your are not the one making comics take a break and think about the hard work this people do to entertain thousands of fans. This is the first and take time to write in a forum and really hope the last cuz i know half of the people would complain about my post but after all you waste time and energy reading it........so I wasnt stupid after lol. And for those who like my post Thanks and have a great day and keep enjoying the comic book industry

I see Booth's art panned a LOT since the relaunch. While I do agree, it reminds me a lot of 90's Image, I always considered him a fairly good artist during the 90s Image era. Just curious, of you guys who are insulting Booth, who do you consider current quality comic artist?

I'm still waiting to give the slightest damn about any of the new characters, especially when many of the characters I was already invested in are still in non-existence limbo. Hell, I think it could work better if it was JUST the four legacy characters.

@Mbecks14: I just need to say, I like the picture with the Superman's get up. I think your art is great.

However, i don't think you get human anatomy 100% since well, human anatomy and facial expressions are alot harder to grasp than just scenery or objects.

IMO I think Brett Booth's art is great, he does have a certain style towards facial expressions and alot of them look pretty "fierce" but that is his style of drawing and sales is dictating that the general audience actually like the art and story.

I find Brett's pencils always look much much better than his inked and colored stuff. Like the following

The artwork doesn't look that bad, better than what I can draw.

I am wondering which title Raven is going to pop up since she's not appearing in TT anymore. My guess is probably either the Outlaws or JL Dark.

But I am just waiting for her to show up. :)

I love these exclusive articles, the Scott Snyder stuff has been great and this is up there too. It should be time delayed with preference to subscribers though

It seems from the images here that we are going to see the Teen Titans become more of a team than they have been for the past couple of issues.

Since when do Whiskey sites watermark images?

I'm looking forward to picking this book up in trade for Tim Drake, if nothing else. The art is fine, too. I don't understand why people hate it so much, other than to bash Liefeld for whatever reason.
