Everything Wrong with 2012's Comic Book Movies

Did The Dark Knight Rises,The Avengers or The Amazing Spider-Man have more "flaws?"

Regardless of which one is your favorite, there's no denying this year was an awesome cinematic experience for comic fans. Marvel's The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man, Dredd... there was something for all of us to enjoy.  After the likes of Green Lantern in 2011, this year was certainly one to appreciate.

But as expected, this also brought a dark cloud over our community. The trio of big movies divided many comic book fans as they picked their favorite and attempted to cite why it was superior (sorry, Parker, poor choice of words) to the others. Well, a Youtube account called "CinemaSins" has popped up and made 3 hilarious videos pointing out "everything wrong" with this year's big 3 CBMs.

Remember, a fair amount of these "flaws" are just thrown in for comedic value. No matter what I say, a discussion on which movie was "the best" or "the worst" is bound to break out. Please keep the conversation friendly or not even Odin will be able to save you from the ban hammer.

Love this series, thanks for the posts. My favorite moment from those Avengers sins has to be "And suddenly, there was Bruce Banner on a motorcycle!" Anyone else want to see these guys crossover with Honest Trailers?

@tobiasPUNK:2 things

1: Dude, sorry I overreacted

2: Although not without it's Flaws, the Avengers is one of the best comic book movies ever. Period. If you want to have an opinion, that's cool, but my opinion is that your opinion sucks.

@treefreak32: Am I suppose to care? This is a forum where we all have the right to free speech and to share our opinions. And because I don't appreciate spending my hard earned money to be disappointed again and again by Marvel, you hate me. Congratulations you must have the most complicated first world problems.

I did not care for the Avengers at all. The plot was predictable (Oh no, a giant alien army! We have to stop the person/object that's making them keep coming!) and the tone was bleh. When I watch a super hero movie, I want it to be serious for the most part (Here's lookin' at you, Justice League) and not a cartoon with live actors. It had a nice script, I'll give it that.

Problems I had were:

1. A largely unimpressive BANE and underutilized TALIA AL GHUL in Dark Knight Rises,

2. Amazing Spider-Man was nearly a complete bore (and definitely less impressive than any of Toby's Spider-Man films) and the overly long rehash of his origins was really annoying.

3. The uninteresting BLACK WIDOW instead of either WASP, MS MARVEL, or SCARLET WITCH in The Avengers.

I absolutely cannot wait for the upcomming comic films; Man of Steel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Thor: The Dark World, and Kick-Ass 2!!!

Yeah I know but I dont think these are really meant to be taken seriously at least not all of them.

Regardless of that, he couldn't control his powers earlier in "The Avengers." (When he went after Black Widow), so it's still a legitimate point.

The Avengers was the worst movie I've ever seen. They need to stop putting this s%#t on our plates. I honestly don't even bother watching anything from Marvel anymore, I know it's going to be filled with stupid jokes, one liners, incomplete plot points and absolutely no character development.

I don't think these guys are that funny to be honest and although they all had minor problems (no movie's perfect) they were all great movies. I also think that a lot of what these guys said was "wrong" with these movies is more or less just an opinion or pov.

I didn't noticed those small mistakes but a person might noticed them after watching the films on DVD many times. Some of those mistakes make those who are filming unprofessional. The Avengers had 200 million dollars for the budget and some scenes were actually filmed with an iphone.Or the scene when Batman came in the tunnel during day time and came out at night time. How about the thugs who were beating up Batman but fell backwards for no reason. When the filmed it, they probably didn't care that much and rushed the film as fast as possible.

This is so hilarious. I love Batman films but The Dark Knight Rises is one of the worst of all Batman movies, in my opinion. It's like Christopher Nolan what to ends his Batman films, so he just put a bunch of crap together. Usually with superhero movies it's best to stay until the credits are done because they usually show a sequel or something in the end. Just watching the flaws in so funny where some you can noticed but other not so much. Batman has so many flaws. Batman is my favorite hero but I prefer watching Avengers over TDKR anytime.

How can you not even have Spidey encounter the guy who killed his Uncle? Half way though the movie he just forgets?

Emma Stone shoulda been MJ.

I can't remember that bit. I know he goes on a manhunt but I can't remember much else

Probably would of been better suited, but I likes Gwen in the film and had no complaints about her.

And he goes on a hunt for the guy, tracking down every guy int he city that looks like him (how many people can look the same anyway?), but none had the tattoo (since when does the Burglar have a tattoo anyway?). Eventually, the character is just forgotten and the hole Lizard crap started.

Ah, Nolanites still trying to elevate TDKR to Citizen Kane status I see. Look, folks, it was a very, very good film. Hell, it was maybe even a great film. But it wasn't revolutionary. It wasn't an all time classic. It wasn't even the best film in the trilogy. So save the drama.

Hulk controlling his rage is from the 2008 movie. Loki was controlling above the Helicarrier, and it is addressed.

I think TDKR had little Batman in it, and it became over dramatic in some ways (Alfred ALWAYS lecturing Bruce in almost all their scenes together, for example). Also, Nolan is the kind of director that expects the audience to connect the dots for themselves... so some "plot-holes" make sense after you give the movie more thought or watch it more than twice. Inception is crafted in a similar way. TDK is still the best of the three.

The Amazing Spider Man was alright... Honestly, the music is what made it plain to me. It's actually a big thing in movies, and the musical theme from the 2000's Spider-Man movies was catchy and well crafted. TDKR and Avengers both succeed at this, too.

I loved the Dark Knight Rises and, frankly, I'm always surprised at how petty people get with the Nolan trilogy in particular when it comes to nitpicks but with other movies (like a Nazi-less Captain America set during WWII) are more forgiving. I think the strength of Nolan's body of work is that it's limitless in ambition but contained and tasteful in execution. I almost feel as though Nolan trying to treat Batman like a film rather than a comicbook movie made people feel condescended to unfortunately but they should be pleased, he's only showing the versatility of comicbook movies which is key to their preservation.

Also, nearly all the nitpicks are explainable. Like "Wah, why do they trust Talia and they don't know anything about her?" - Erm, if she were really trying to avenge her father's death in a mastermind plot, I would imagine she'd have already covered her tracks before serving in the board. Things like that drive me up a wall. Also, SORRY, Anne Hathaway was amazing. Fess up and get over it.

Avengers I liked but Spiderman was a mess with the redeeming features easily being Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield.

Loved the Dark Knight Rises, enough to see it multiple times in the theater. Liked the Avengers, proving that even with a terrible script, you can be entertaining with humor. Couldn't be objective with The Amazing Spider-Man.

The only flaw is these billion dollar movies aren't translating into actual comic book sales.

Need to start opening comic shops inside theaters.

The only major issues I had with TDKR were the minor role of Talia, why Bruce didn't see a doctor in the years prior to the movie (I understand it was because he felt worthless, but seriously why wouldn't you still see a doctor?), how quick Bruce manages to get back into the being Batman (the leg machine thing and the weird medical treatment in prison), and I thought the whole thing about falling in love with Selina Kyle and moving to Italy was too quick and undermined the death of Rachael in the second movie.

The problems I had with the Avengers were: How some of the members of the Avengers hog the spotlight more than the others. I would have liked to know more about Hawkeye and even Thor for instance. i felt like Bruce Banner's character development was shot out of the window and replaced with Hulk smash. I questioned the legitimacy of the Chitauri as a space conquering alien race since they were pretty bad at the whole conquering thing. A larger backstory into the Tesseract could have clearly explained the situation better. Like, for example, how Odin acquired it? The biggest issue I had, don't judge me for it, was how Natasha didn't have a Russian accent -.- She is supposed to be a former-Russian super agent, not American.

Now on to the ASM, the problem I had with it was the casing choice. I know this is a personal opinion and doesn't really pertain to the actual movie, but I felt like some of the people they chose were a bit off. I have mentioned before my disapproval of the people playing the new roles in the next ASM movie, and my thoughts have not changed on it. I personally don't like Andrew Garfield has Peter Parker, he just doesn't have the right character vibe in my opinion. I don't like Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben either, just didn't fit the role either. Though it would be hilarious if they had Charlie Sheen play Norman Osborn. The main reason why I think I don't like ASM is because I'm judging it with Sam Reimi's Spider-man series, which I thought was spot on with the cast. The only person I could have lived without was Toby Mcguire, since he's a douche in real life.

All in all. I thought these movies were enjoyable to watch. If I had to rate it based on how much I liked the movie. It would be Avengers first, Spider-man second and Batman last.
