Edgar Wright Returning to Ant-Man Right After Scott Pilgrim

And, well, after he's collapsed.

I still think it'd be pretty wild if it ended up being an adaptation of this... probably the most significant Ant-Man story.

All you fans of buggy adventures enabled through Pym Particles needn’t worry… Edgar Wright hasn’t deserted the ANT-MAN movie. The questions’ been lingering for more than a year at least, and Stan Lee even tweeted about it in February. Now, Wright’s finally commented on the project during an interview with MTV about his other comics-based movie, SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD (and have you seen that movie’s spiffy posters?)

So said Mr. Wright….

"Once I finish ['Scott Pilgrim'] and collapse for at least a month, I'm going to get back into writing it… I wrote a draft before 'Scott Pilgrim' and my second draft is very much overdue to Marvel. It's something that I've written and they very much liked the first draft that we did, me and Joe Cornish, so we're excited to get back into it again.”

I say we ought to cut the guy some slack. He’s writing and directing all these projects, so he can really only do one at a time. I’m definitely curious about what he pulled off in that first draft that impressed Marvel so much, though... == TEASER ==

Maybe it’s just hearsay, but MTV’s also seemed to confirmed which Ant-Man -- Hank Pym, Scott Lang or Eric O’Grady --  this will be about. Turns out it’s actually going to be about Pym, with Lang serving as his protégé and O’Grady, sadly, won't be involved. I could see it roughly following the comics: have Lang be the actual field agent while Pym sits back and develops all the tech. That way, you’ve got your everyman, your “entry-level character,” exploring this world of shrinking and bugs even though he doesn't really understand all the gobbligook that goes behind it.

Given these release brackets, an ANT-MAN movie would have to come out after the AVENGERS. However, I don’t think that necessarily means an Ant-Man couldn’t be in that movie, too. You could have Pym serving as another “consultant” and set-up a spin-off devoted to his endeavors in sub-space. That’s one possibility. What would you Comic Vine maniacs do?

Anyway, if you’d like to hear Edgar himself, go on and press play on the clip below…
