The odds that Eminem actually wants to play the Riddler in the next BATMAN movie might be pretty slim, but how about Ed Norton? Superheroes came up, as they always do, while he was promoting his new movie, STONE, to IGN. Norton said that, even though he doesn’t like to repeat himself when it comes to selecting his roles, he’d still love to take another crack at acting in a superhero movie… and he, specifically, wouldn’t refuse a chance to be in Chris Nolan’s next BATMAN movie. When pressed about whether he’d want to play Mr. Edward Nigma, he gave a smiling, slightly-baiting answer, saying “Your guys put their votes in on that.”
I think Norton would be great in this, especially if they gave him a chance to dial up the cold, calculated creepiness with the Riddler. Whoever does end up playing the villain is definitely going to need to play the role completely different than Heath Ledger’s Joker, lest comparisons be invited. Having a soft-spoken mastermind who never gets rattled and never raises his voices might be just as unnerving as scatterbrained, lip-smacking psychopath.
Of course, this is all based on the assumption that the Riddler will even be the villain in BATMAN 3... == TEASER ==
As we’ve heard, the script of this movie is still being written, so none of the plan is finalized yet. Still, I’d really prefer it not to be the Riddler for the same reason I’m hoping Catwoman doesn’t show up - - we’ve already seen the character in a movie before. Give me Black Mask, the KGBeast, the Ventriloquist or even Firefly, instead please.
For those of who’re still wondering about Norton’s thoughts regarding the Hulk and the AVENGERS movie, the guy’s wishing them both well.
So spoke Mr. Norton with much class…
"I think I said everything I want to say in the one thing I put out about that… It was a great privilege to do it, and I couldn't be more appreciative of everybody's support and positivity towards that because I love those films too. And I hate it when they miss. I hate it when they miss on one - it seems like such a wasted opportunity. But the truth is I'm probably more naturally interested in doing something that I haven't done. I have only good thoughts towards that though."
