Disney Infinity 2.0: Jasmine and Aladdin Impressions

Now you can play as both Jasmine and Aladdin in Disney Infinity 2.0.

Disney Infinity 2.0 has been out since September and I'm still hooked. When a new figure is released, there's the joy of discovering what they're capable of. Powering them up means you have to use them to gain the skill points needed to get new abilities.

Today, a new figure is joining the line up. Get ready to head to Agrabah with Jasmine and Aladdin.

Aladdin has been out since November. You have your choice, you can buy Jasmine in an individual package or in the two-pack with Aladdin. The advantage of the two-pack is it is a little cheaper ($29.99 for the two or the regular $19.99 per figure). You also get the two power discs. These are Agrabah textures for the ground or sky to use in the Toybox. My daughter and I spend a lot of time in the "Introduction to the Toybox" area since you can play with any character there and it's easy to fight the bad guys that generate to get the skill points to power up your figures.

One of the interesting things in changing the texture is you discover that Crazy Hakim has quite the business going. You'll find these all over the place in the Toybox.

When we spoke with Disney Infinity 2.0 Executive Producer John Vignocchi last month, he mentioned that Jasmine came about after they had some extra production bandwidth. The argument was, you can't have Aladdin without Jasmine, thus, she was created as well.

I'll admit, I was a little skeptical about the character. I like a Disney Princess almost as much as the next person but there are so many really cool characters you can choose to play with. Using her character to test her out and power her up, I really came to admire her gameplay abilities.

Jasmine is no slouch. Her main move involves kicks. She does have the ability to unleash windstorms with a miniature flying carpet. This stuns your opponents. When you level her up and power up the attack, it unleashes an even bigger windstorm called the "Winds of Agrabah." Your opponents will get stuck in the whirlwind and twirl around for a bit. You can later power it up to cause even more damage.

Another cool move is her "Royal Decree" 3-hit combo. As he kicks her opponents, she finishes with a pretty spectacular looking upside down twirling kick. It's great when your opponent tries blocking your attacks. Her special move is a massive Windstorm that lifts her up and really puts the damage to your foe.

As for Aladdin, he has a good balance to him as well. His scimitar can be used at close combat or it can be thrown at bad guys standing further away. You will want to power him up to give him more of an advantage. His special move is the "Curse of the Lamp" which allows him to unleash a fury of attack with the Genie coming out of the lamp. If only we could get a figure of the Genie!

If you're playing Disney Infinity 2.0 or are looking for a new reason to pick it up again, these figures make nice additions. If you're a fan of Aladdin, there's no question whether or not you should get them.

Some of the other discs related to these figures is the Flying Carpet. This is a rare disc and allows any player the ability to fly around in the Toybox. There's also the Rags to Riches alternate costume skin so Aladdin can become Prince Ali.

Here's a trailer released by Disney Infinity.

Both figures are now in stores or online. Let us know if you're still playing Disney Infinity 2.0.

Now to wait until March 23 for Falcon and Loki.
