While I can not say that I am overly enthusiastic about the upcoming Thor movie, I am sure many of you are. You may be pleased to know that the upcoming Thor film has already started being cast, which is fantastic news as Marvel seems to be well on its way to bringing all aspects of their major Avengers series to life.
The great thing about Twitter is that it is a massive self promotional outlet as well as a really great way to get breaking news as it breaks. The guys over at Slash film happen to be a big fan of actress Diora Baird, and good thing too. Yesterday she reported that she was just leaving an audition for Marvel's upcoming Thor movie.
Had an audition for the movie Thor today. Character description was ‘pretty, but sturdy with muscle’. Damn type casting.
When she was asked to give more information, she obviously said that she was unable to do so.
I cant say. I’ll go to jail. For real. Had to sign my soul away.
So what role could it be that Baird is possibly trying out for? Is it the same one that Jessica Biel was previously rumored to be in finalizing? Perhaps the Enchantress? Maybe Loki? Is it a new character all-together? Considering that the movie is being made by Marvel, with a lot of backing from the Marvel publishers, I highly doubt that the film maker will be able to so easily throw a new wrench in the canon of an already really well established comic book character. In fact, if there was one thing that really made me appreciate the Iron Man film, it was the fact that the film maker played with elements that already existed. The characters in the film were characters that already exist in the comic book time-line and continuity; and I hate to come off as an uber-nerd, but it was something myself as well as many fans of the character readily appreciated. It will be interesting to follow the development of this film and see what character will be the female lead! Are you looking forward to the developments of the upcoming movie? What character, based on Baird's description, do you think she was trying out for?
