Vampirella is about to make her return to comics. Dynamite Entertainment is releasing a new series starring the mistress of the night. In December, issue #2 is on sale.

Vampirella is on the hunt and has tracked down the boodthirsty Vlad Dracula to Seattle. There she will also find a vicious nest of vampires preying on the young and the lost. In the clutches of Le Fanu, one of Dracula's oldest and most trusted lieutenants, Vampirella must face a growing threat more terrifying than any she has ever encountered because Le Fanu has exposed her to her own deepest and darkest secrets. The issue is written by Eric Trautmann, illustrated by Wagner Reis, with covers by Jelena Kevic Djurdjevic, Joe Jusko, Paul Renaud and Lucio Parillo

It's hard to imagine there would be anything more one could expose about Vampirella. She does tend to let everything just hang out there to begin with. She'd be an open book if her comics didn't require shrink wrapping. lol

What, no Vampirella brand double stick tape? She would need that just to keep that top in place. It defies physics.

I can't believe Dynamite is blowing up so big.  Once DC/Wildstorm was stupid enough to cut loose The Boys, then Dynamite has only been going up.  How different would the world be if Wildstorm did not drop the Boys?  Would Wilstorm still be an imprint, that series sure sells.  Would DC have purchased Vampirella?  I can see she in the Vertigo universe, or she could be between Vertigo and Wildstorm, Vertigo reprinting the older stuff like Moore, Robinson, Ellis, Morrison and Millar, while Wildstorm could have the ongoing.

I still can't believe Dynamite has Vampi.... and they go for the new ongoing before the reprints.

DC wasn't stupid. While they were publishing "The Boys" it was barely above the cancellation line for sales. It also presented knock-offs of their main characters as perverts. DC could've also held up the rights to "The Boys" and not let Derrick Robertson be the artist since they had him under contract. But they were very generous. Now it's a big fish in a small pond. "The Boys" usually are in the mid-90's on the list of comic sales.  Decent but not great. "Green Hornet" sells better for Dynamite than "The Boys." I love the comic and really hope the movie happens, but I can't honestly call losing "The Boys" a huge loss especially considering the respect from freelancers that DC got in how they handled it.

@ForbushBug:   I like the other side you are presenting, but trade volumes have no stats.  Most of the Boys readers are trade readers, this is why Dynamite can have different formats for it.  Wildstorm had parody characters in what Ellis made in guys like Apollo.  DC miss handled The Boys, yes they had the class to let Robertson work on it and yes they gave Ennis and Robinson the rights back, but they were dumb.

It is the Boys that made Dynamite credible, before the Boys, Dynamite was only doing comics where they had rights to.  If The Boys did not go Dynamite, but maybe something like Icon, would Dynamite be around?  IDW does series with rights as well, so Dynamite is not exclusive in the "Licensed" comics market.  I think that Harris would of sold Vampi else where if the Boys didn't give Dynamite creditability.

I just finished reading DARK SHADOWS/VAMPIRELLA # 5. And, I love how, in that one-shot spoof of BTVS (back in October), she scolded "Fluffy" over the latter's negative critique of her skimpy outfit.

"Feminine empowerment means you can wear what you feel like...and kill anyone who doesn't like it."

Yet, when a studly male vampire like Barnabas Collins tells her she looks more attractive, fully clothed? She accepts the back-handed compliment with grudging peacefulness...and fully dresses accordingly!

Newsflash, Vampi: feminine empowerment also means having _zero_ double-standards as compared to male sexist pigs. LOL!
