In case you haven't heard, Death Note is being picked up by Warner Bros.  If you're into manga, you probably know all about it.  When the lead character, Light Yagami finds a Death Note one day, his life changes forever.  With the ability to kill anyone whose name is written in the book, Light must decide how to best use it.  Soon he becomes hunted as a killer.  Variety has reported that Warner Bors. will be making this into a live-action movie.  There has been three movies made in Japan so far but this movie will focus on the manga and not the previous movies (there were some slight changes).  Charley and Vlas Parlapanides have been hired to write the screenplay.

Now is the time to get either excited or scared.  The thirteen volume book was great.  I loved it.  It's one of the few mangas that I found the time to read recently.  It seems perfect for being made into a movie.  We just have to hope that Hollywood doesn't mess it up.

We could start discussing who we think should play the role of Light or L.  Should the Shinigami be totally CG?  What would you do if you found a Death Note?  Would you use it to end someone's life?  Would you kill the "guilty" or use it for personal gain?  I enjoyed the first Japanese movie (haven't seen the others yet) but this could be really great with a bigger budget.  I just really really hope Warners doesn't mess it up.
