Deadpool Vs Skrulls? Sounds Good To Me

Deadpool #1

Deadpool Is Back…And Ready To Kill To Some Skrulls!

I like Deadpool.  I don't love him.  Yes he's a wacky guy.  Sometimes he can get annoying.  I know he's supposed to be.  That's part of his character.  I think my main problem with him, and I know there will be some that will want to attack me over this, he's often written as being able to do more than he should.  I know he's a bad-ass and all but should he be able to go toe-to-toe with someone like Wolverine (as recently seen in Wolverine: Origins)?  It did seem at the end that perhaps Wolverine was playing Deadpool and allowed him to get away with some of the stuff he did.  Deadpool has skills, yes but I don't see him as some unstoppable killing force of nature.

I'm going to let all that go when I start reading this series.  I think what Deadpool is really about is having fun while reading about him.  He's not a serious character so why should he be portrayed as such.  He's the guy that can break the fourth wall.  Now he's going up against the Skrulls.  You know there's going to be some zanniness going on there.

An interesting note from Comic-Con, I reported this from the Secret Invasion panel:

When asked to elaborate on Deadpool's Secret Invasion activities, Way looked at Joe and panel, paused, and said, "...He's doing...something for...someone."  He'll soon be getting the attention of everyone and will be "running ramant throughout the Marvel Universe."

So while Deadpool may start out killing Skrulls, I wonder if maybe they'll offer to pay him to work for them...

The Merc with a Mouth is back and ready to kick butt in his brand new on-going series!  Join the Crimson Nutcase, DEADPOOL, for action and wisecracks in Deadpool #1!  As the Skrulls continue their attack on Earth, the world is being torn upside down and only one person can save us in this new ongoing series, spinning out of Secret Invasion!  He’s Deadpool and he’s crazier and deadlier than ever before!  Don’t miss the explosive debut of this new series by writer Daniel Way (Wolverine Origins, Ghost Rider, Bullseye: Greatest Hits) and fan-favorite artist Paco Medina (New Warriors, New X-Men)!  Plus, an eye popping, variant cover, featuring artwork from the legendary Rob Liefeld!

After Daniel Way’s Deadpool arc in Wolverine: Origins, the fans and critics agree that he was born to write this series!

“Deadpool's characterization is really fascinating. Daniel Way explores our favorite Merc-with-a-Mouth's delusions of grandeur and self-image… This is wonderful character exploration.” – Steven M. Bari of

“I generally like what Daniel Way is doing with this book….It's good stuff, and it makes me crave the ongoing Deadpool book all the more.” – Jesse Schedeen of

Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Secret Invasion and all tie-in issues, as they continue to sell out quickly at Diamond!

Deadpool gets swept up the chaos of Secret Invasion!  Will he step up to the plate and save the human race?  His madness is his method and you’re not going to want to miss it in Deadpool #1!

As Deadpool once said "It's fun to play the idiot... until people start to think it's true." You underestimate him G~Man, many do, but don't be fooled by his fun nature; you don't have to have a mean demeanor to be one of the most dangerous characters in Marvel. He's also possibly the only character Wolverine can't beat, that alone should give him credit.
