New York City, late 1970s. Times Square is a haven for sex and drugs. The city teeters on the verge of bankruptcy, while blackouts can strike at any moment. This is the world of THE KITCHEN.

The Irish gangs of Hell’s Kitchen rule the neighborhood, bringing terror to the streets and doing the dirty work for the Italian Mafia. Jimmy Brennan and his crew were the hardest bastards in the Kitchen, but after they’re all put in prison, their wives – Kath, Raven and Angie – decide to keep running their rackets. And once they get a taste of the fast life and easy money, it won’t be easy to stop.

THE KITCHEN takes one of the most popular genres in entertainment and, like The Sopranos, reimagines it for a new generation to present a classic gangster story told from a fresh point of view.

Written by talented newcomer Ollie Masters with stunning art by Ming Doyle (Mara) and killer covers by Becky Cloonan (GOTHAM ACADEMY, Killjoys, DEMO), THE KITCHEN is not to be missed.

Wow, sorry but that Bryan Hitch cover for Secret Origins looks pretty terrible.

In other news, we have a LOT of new series and new creative teams in October and November.

Edited by i_dont_like_comics

some great covers, some food-for-thought covers, some meh covers, some straight up lying covers, some covers for really bad books. decent showing. until we read the stories behind the covers that is.

Mike Johnson is back on Supergirl! Should be great now the book is free from cross over hell. Hopefully he can tell the story he wants to free from editorial interference.

Ooh, Enigma.

Posted by longbowhunter

Damn they went and resolicited that Kevin Smith Green Arrow as an Absolute. Not sure I want anything that large or that pricey.

Who's the blonde on the Batman and Robin cover? Stephanie Brown?

Not a lot of series here I plan on picking up.

Aquaman #36 seems like a must

Might also start Wonder Woman with this new run her issue seems Interesting "Villain that can take down the JL"

FE #28 seems like a must to Bruce vs Terry.

Is that Cheshire on the Aquaman and The Others comic?

Edited by kennybaese

Wait, are Manapul and Buccellato off of Detective already?

EDIT: Never mind, looks like it's just a two part fill in story.

I wish the others would stop being in Aquaman and dragging down the book. The first year before they were invented was so much better.

So much going on in the DC universe, so much to be excited for.

If Justice League is starting to give Batman more attention, then does that just mean Geoff Johns is going to continue to spite him...? Excited for MMH vs Aquaman even if it seems a bit one-sided! Maybe we'll see Arthur's TP develop in that arc...

I totally skipped that, was it any good?

THAT CATWOMAN COVER!!!!!

Posted by dondave

As much as I like Aquaman if they have Martian Manhunter fight him, J'onn better beat the hell of out him

@micah: I have been trying to collect some old wildstorm book but the Authority are onf of the best. Are you going to get Divine Right too ?

Maybe. It seems pretty interesting, I'll have to check it out. I really wish DC would give us another Authority book :(

Posted by LyraFay

Yes I wanted to read The Royals!!

Posted by Ostyo

SO MANY SEXY COVERS I CAN'T HANDLE IT!!!

Posted by Justthatkid

@dondave: Most certainly not they should keep constantly showing Arthur as a high tier heavy hitter....

I'm expecting it to just be a confrontation though. Maybe similar in a way to Seamp Things appearance to where they talk.

Posted by frozenedge

I need to win the lottery soon to try and keep up with all of this. Still haven't seen the stuff Marvel, Image, and Valiant are putting. God I wish comics were a $1 and below

Posted by ShadowSwordmaster

@micah: Or even any Wildstorm books to be honest but yeah they need to bring it back.

Posted by _ANDY_CAN

i think it was drawn bad on purpose since batman or superman aren't in this issue

Posted by dondave

@justthatkid: He's certainly a high tier heavy hitter, just not on Martian Manhunter's level. Arthur for example wouldn't be able to replicate J'onn's feat with Brainiac's Mothership.

Coupled with his other abilities and his vastly superior telepathy, Aquaman should get the beat down of his life.

Aquaman and Swamp Thing fought each other.

Posted by Justthatkid

@dondave: Arthur has consistently been shown high tier fighting next to WW.

Fighting against Wonder Woman

Fighting Hercules

Taking a hit from MMH and WW and shown fine.

Yeah can't remember the issue Swamp thin was on Aquaman think it was 32.

I doubt MMH will try to put him down with TP.

and since they nerfed his TP like shot he should atleast have better tp defense.

Posted by micah

@micah: Or even any Wildstorm books to be honest but yeah they need to bring it back.

It's sad because after the cancellation of Stormwatch, any Wildstorm influence in the New-52 has been swept under the rug. I hope we see another Wildstorm series soon.

Posted by dondave

@justthatkid: Wonder Woman hasn't really proven herself to be in Martian Manhunter's. league.

Hercules' only feat is fighting Aquaman, doesn't exactly put Aquaman beating him on J'onn's level.

One hit doesn't judge how the rest of the fight would go.

Aquaman was recently controlled by Brainiac. He couldn't do the same to Martian Manhunter.

J'onn's telepathy is better in every way.

Posted by _ANDY_CAN

Cheshire, Kgbeast, new gods, etrigan, clarion, lobo, black hand, Manhunter, forever people and manchester black are back yeah.

Did anyone notice bane and alfred's team up, excited for lanterns godhead, g.i zombie, lobo should be awesome if there's a twist, earth 2 keeps getting better and better the arts on these covers look amazing but still to much batman we could have a solo orion the new god book, solo hawkman, solo plastic man, solo doom patrol, solo challengers of the unknown, solo legion of superheroes, solo omac or kamndi solo ambush bug{the original fourth wall breaker},solo captain atom or solo dakotaverse, charlton and wildstorm comic book characters books.

DC's too busy making more Batbooks. In the year 2029. We will have a book about Batman's Batcow, but still no Shazam, MM or more deserving DC characters.

I love the Green Lantern covers this month. The optical illusions those lines create are trippy!

Edited by dkmark96

Looks like a good month:

1. I really hope Wonder Wiman delivers. But definetely missing Azz and Cliff.

2. Endgame looking promising, can't wait to see the actual covers.

3. I was thinking of dropping Eternal, but it seems it will get exiting.

4. Not reading Aquaman or Futures End, gonna give them a try thanks to that covers.

5. Justice League looks promising.

6. I'm tired of GL books being allways connected. Now even Sinedtro is in a crissover.

7. GI zombie and Grayson are great.

8. Giving a try to Gotham Academy, lobo, deathstroke and Arkham Mayor. Am i the only one that belives DC could have pull better books for Cullen Bunn and Guerry duggan? Maybe a Rogues book or Suice Squad.

DC is time to put together some good teams and give us the books we want!! (Shazam, cyborg, martian manhunter, etc). I'm looking at you Klarion the Witch boy.
