Hopefully Marvel gives us dark and gritty DD, not swashbuckling bullsh*it like a certain writer is doing right now

I'm SOOOOOO excited!!! I've been incredibly disappointed by Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. because of the lack of actual Marvel characters and this is the perfect platform to introduce some of the lesser knowns to a larger audience!

I can see Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, Cloak & Dagger, Misty Night & White Tiger and so many others getting some screen time!

Do you want to know who should play Iron Fist?

Everybody knows I love DD and Iron Fist and I'm sure people will love these shows but I'm pretty sure there not going to be for me. Its not so much that characters I love but the story's that are told with them, I think Luke Cage and Iron Fist are at there most interesting when there books read like a throwback to 70s and 80s martial arts and blaxplotation films so when I want to watch that on tv id want something like 'what if Quentin Tarantino tried to make Mortal Kombat' and its the same with Daredevil, I want dirty pulp noir with a dark city, fem fatale and a murder mystery. It may be to early to judge but its pretty obvious these shows will be family friendly superhero romps so that they fit in with this Avengers World theyv built, that's cool for those who like it but its not for me.

So awesome, after recently beating LEGO Marvel I began wanting to get more and more in Daredevil. He's a character I've always liked but never read too much of, other than the one off here and there. Need to pick up some of his big story lines but the show should be awesome.

@theblackhood: PUNISHER kills the others would not accept him for that reason. He could hold a show though. Just think of this as phase one.

Where is my Punisher show Marvel???? You've been teasing that for years and still nothing.... You couldn't shove Luke and Danny together into one show to make room for a little Castle love?

Other Netflix original programming has been distributed by other means in international markets.For instance, I know Orange is the New Black has definitely been shown on broadcast television outside the US

That is pretty awesome. I am especially excited about a Jessica Jones show. But separating Fist and Cage? Weird.

Could not be more excited about this, Netflix has made some impressive series so far, so I'm trusting them pretty well. 4 series does seem to be kinda jumping the gun to lead up to a crossover, but I look forward to seeing Daredevil and Iron Fist in particular.

Not sure how many viewers Jessica Jones and Luke Cage can pull in, would've been better to have Luke and Iron Fist in a Heroes for Hire show but whatever!

This is brilliant news, but I do hope they'll release it on Netflix in Europe. I'm in Ireland, and we are missing a huge amount of content that those in the US have, I'd hate to miss these! :o

Dr. Strange will likely get a film instead, but the pieces kind of fit. The only part that looked a little forced was the Iron Fist part, but I am sure Marvel can make it work if the Hand works for Kingpin or Tombstone or whomever.

He was 'borrowed' to Fox for that one movie, and then returned to Sony.

Not sure that's true. The Daredevil movie was Fox and featured Kingpin as the main villain.

No, I don't think so. I think they are doing for Netflix what they did for the movies. I base my information on the bleeding cool article. The whole Defenders thing is the miniseries that everything is supposed to be building up to.

Plus Luke and Danny have completely unrelated origin stories. Marvel is taking a slow, methodical approach for non-comcis reader, so I don't think they would shove together 2 different worlds like that without establishing each hero on their own. Maybe after Defenders Heroes for Hire may come along, but I do not see it happening before.

But I'm me and you are you. So you can wait for more detail If my line of reasoning doesn't work for you.

They've already said that at the end of the four shows, they'll be coming together in a mini series event, so it's logical to assume that there are going to be threads binding throughout.

Who do we think they'll go with for casting?

@captain13: Wouldn't it be realistic to assume that Luke Cage and Iron Fist sooner or later forms Heroes for hire? They are only saying there will be four shows not a show for each character.

Its Disney/Marvel, there will be a bluray or dvd within months of their release. They want to make as much money as they can and they won't limit themselves to just netflix subscribers.

These heroes are coming together to form the Defenders eventually according to bleeding cool. Punisher doesn't play nice on teams. But it would be cool for him to get his own series outside of this or to cameo--maybe he and Blade should start their own team that is pro-killing bad guys. They could get Elektra to join too.

That said, the Avengers/Marvel Phase One didn't give movies to Black Widow or Hawkeye, so maybe other heroes without shows will pop up on the Defenders series?

This has the potential to be freaking amazing... more comic related tv and movies the better I believe... The fact that I actually enjoy these characters is a bonus

Not only are we getting major heroes who fans are excited about on TV (and who make sense on TV), we are also getting a lot of great VARIETY.

• Each opens up different story telling opportunities (Crime, Magic, Grounded Science Fiction, etc.)
• The heroes are diverse themselves; we have a woman, an African American, a disabled man, and someone who grew up in an Eastern society
• They have different power sets and skills

I am really excited for this. And really proud of Marvel for giving us heroes who are actually diverse. Too many times, we've seen people say--it just won't work unless it's a white male lead! Too much money to put on the line for a risk. BLAH. BLAH. BLAH. We live in the 21st century. We've seen things like Hunger Games, Scandal, Sleepy Hollow, etc. succeed. Glad to see Marvel not make any excuses for -isms in the industry.

Maybe Isaiah Mustafa can play Luke Cage after all.

Daredevil should be easy. He can set up Kingpin as the villain who brings these heroes together as the Defenders.

Iron Fist is easy as well. Just do his 8 cities of heaven tournament, which allows you to set up the Hand.

Luke Cage is a little harder due to lack of material, but I could see a Weapon X type storyline for him. I'm surprised that hasn't been in the comics actually.

I need to read up more on Jessica before her Alias days...

They will make four thirteen episodes shows. However it seems like they will be interactive in someway since they will be combined in a miniTV show.
