Daredevil Returns to NYC Against New Enemies in Daredevil #1

Is everything forgiven after the events of Shadowland?

Remember when Daredevil sort of went crazy (okay, maybe he was sort of possessed) and created Shadowland? The real question is, will the residents and heroes of New York City remember?

Matt Murdock recently took some time to find himself, or be reborn. Now it's time for him to return home. The first thing on his list was to set up a new law practice with Foggy Nelson.

It's true that the residents in comic books often have short memories but Daredevil did some pretty wacky things. It might be difficult for people to simply overlook everything that happened.

What about the fact that pretty much everyone is certain that Matt Murdock is Daredevil? Can he really pick up his law practice with his secret out? What about Black Panther? Will he stay in Hell's Kitchen as its protector or is Daredevil ready to reclaim his territory. And do the people in Hell's Kitchen want him back?

There are lots and lots of questions when it comes to Daredevil now. On July 7, 2011, we just might be getting the answer to some of those questions courtesy of Mark Waid, Paolo Rivera and Marcos Martin. Check out this first look courtesy of Marvel including DD going up against the SPOT!!

Issue #1 will have a $3.99 price tag with variant covers by John Romita SR, Marcos Martin, Neal Adams and a blank cover.

I can't help but think that DD is taking a leak on that chapel window.

On the topic of going back to Hell's Kitchen, I bet they're all going to forget about it thanks to a deal with Mephisto (trade one demon for another!).

@Golden Cod: DareDevil creates UnHoly Water on the church windows....

I was 100% certain that I would not be picking up this series, but seeing just how beautiful it looks, I have to give issue 1 a try.

Pretty nice!

black panther can go back to his marriage, and be a house boo.

I really have high hopes for this series. There was a time when Daredevil was about the only Marvel book I bought every month. I'm ready to see Hornhead return to glory after Shadowland.

YES! The Spot!!
He was in the very first comic I bought from a LCS when I was a kid, I've always loved him. It's The Spot's time to shine baby!

Can't wait to read this! :D

Hmm, that looks interesting....I was wondering about BP as well, what's he gonna do when 'ol horn head is back?

I suppose with his own book he can do pretty much anything and go anywhere.  Could open up whole new doors for him.
I just had a thought (and don't want to dig through my comics[lazy day]) What happened to DD's Shadowland castle?
Anyway, looking forward to see DD back in his old stomping grounds and hope we see some negative (at least they be suspicious) reactions from his supporting cast and community.

Mark Waid you say? Well I'm certainly interested now, despite how bad Origin of The Species was. I'll never be able to count out mark Waid.

YEAH! THE REAL DEVIL IS BACK!

I hope this turns out well, the team sounds ace, so I can't see it being too bad.

I haven't read a DD series forever, mainly because I didn't like where the character was going.

However, with Matt heading back to New York, Waid writing the series, and this awesome artwork, I can't help but pick this up when it drops.

Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

Please be good

Among all my friends, I'm the biggest Daredevil defender, since they all think he sucks. I was so disappointed by Brubaker's latter half, and all of Diggle's run, so I had a hard time defending him. Hopefully Mark Waid can pick up the pieces.

Can't wait. I DD's my favorite hero and Waid's one of my favorite writers :)

Cool, I'm going to pick that issue up.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Daredevil's eyes are purposely being kept from the readers view for all except that last uncolored page? I know he's blind and everything, but on the cover he's holding a billy club over his eyes, he's either not facing the reader or his eyes are off panel in the following pages, and when he saves the girl her arm somehow seems to perfectly cover his eyes again. Other than the largely shadowed out image of his face on the first page, we just don't seem to catch a glimpse of his eyes.

Maybe I'm just reading too much into this, but it seems to me like there's some sort of significance behind this...

cant. wait. gonna. be. sooooo. awesome. welcome. back. matt.

Looks pretty sweet, but I just hope that they keep Matt out of Hell's Kitchen. I know it's his territory and all, but if they stick him straight back in there then what was the point of putting Black Panther in? From what I hear, Black Panther's series is pretty good, so I hope they keep Matt out. It would also make sense considering Shadowland and all.

oh crap is he gonna fall into spot's portal world and find out he can SEE?

Posted by InnerVenom123

I honestly might pick this up.

wish the art was better

Oh my,,,!

I was just flat out not going to get this book. But this reminds me of the days Lee Weeks was the artist

like the use of his powers, detecting he portals by the echo of the organ? Sweet!

The last two issues were good. The rest sucked.

Waid on DD is a dream come true for me, but I'm not sure that I like the context in which Waid is writing him. Matt has been in the gutters (as far as storytellign goes) for a while now, and it'll be interesting to see if Waid has it in him to return DD to his former glory.

This is like writing Superman for the first time after that 90s Blue Superman fiasco. Still, I have faith in Waid.

@FadeToBlackBolt
I bought the first 3 and just couldn't take it anymore lol.

And the 90's good times man...soo bad that they were good times
Edited by FadeToBlackBolt
@JonesDeini: True, but 90s X-Men was badass. Marvel was pretty good throughout the 90s actually, save for the fracking Clone Saga. Which was just awful.

Very classic cover and artwork!
Fitting!

BUT WAIT!
Isn't he still a demon or possessed or something??

Looks really good

Yeah, the art is purposely covering his eyes. An arm here, and dead space panel boarder there, I see it too. But, where does this leave the Black Panther??

Posted by Osiris1428

Oh, yeah...So Black Panther gets to keep the "Man WIthout Fear" tag line? Hmm...

Posted by waruikumo

I really don't like the coloring after seeing the Pencil previews.

Posted by Dh4niel

Great art and Mark Waid? I'll have to pick this up. I haven't read Daredevil since the Kevin Smith run. Which was quite a while ago...

Who knows? Marvel will find some way to ruin him.

Wish Matty got more respect  from the creative teams that work on him. The road he has been on for a while has been beyond ridiculous. He is such a fantastic character and always get the short end of the stick. If the writers would treat him with a little more class and dignity he'd do so much better then he does now. Could easily be Marvel's Batman if they'd just stop with the crappy storytelling.

Posted by Radread

Oh, super villains that work for crime lords. I feel the good old days returning.

Posted by Antonio_Blackheart

it looks Very classic  i can't wait to read.
Posted by Out_of_Space

I can't fuckin wait for this. I'm so fuckin exited.
Posted by Kairan1979

I hope he beats crap out of BP for letting the situation in Hell's Kitchen escalate so horribly.

Posted by sa5m

Hope I can get this

I have to admit, Spot looks pretty creepy in DD's eyes.
