My written pitch: 
 
Cowboys N' Bits 
Tagline: Dogs don't know it's not Kibbles. 

Colonel J. Merrywether, billionaire Civil War carpetbagger gone horribly mad, lures cowboys to his remote jungle island where he hunts them for sport, and to feed the remains to his hundreds of vicious attack dogs. James Bondsmith, Cowboy and pilates enthusiast, wakes up on the island with no memory of how he got there, a Colt .45 Single Action Revolver, and a single bullet.

Oh man. Mash-ups? Crossovers? Writing? That stuff is my favorite! 
 
Cowboys and Mermaids! 
 
The story would begin with 3 of the last cowboys of an old rebel gang. They plan to make a change for the better when they are traveling out further West when they happen upon a town that is in need of help. Being out in the desert, managing resources and maintaining trade tends to be difficult for this small town. They are constantly robbed by bandits and because of the trouble they have had, they have been fighting in their own town. The old rebel gang happens to be drifting by, and wanting to make a better life for themselves, they offer to at least help the townspeople find water. 
 
They set off, scouring the desert with no luck for the first week or so. But then they spy an oasis in the distance. The cowboys initial hesitate to approach, because they believe they see people lingering around the oasis, potentially bandits. The oldest of the cowboys comes up with a plan to approach under the guise of asking for directions. When they get closer, they find two young women. The women scream and dive under the water. The youngest desperado fears they may drown and dives in after them, where he spies what looks like a large fish with a woman hanging out of its mouth and he swims after it. 
 
That would be how the entire first book would be. I would LOVE to read that crossover. It would be hysterical. (That was so far from short. Sorry! I got a little in to it.)

The obvious next step would be 
Cowboys and Aliens and Predators
Find out how that Predator that gave Danny Glover the gun at the end of Pred 2!  I expand on this, but I better find out if this has been done before I go any further, plus it is not very original....

I'm thinking a combination of the ever so rowdy cowboys and the silent stealthy ninjas. 
 
The plot starts with a group of men who, for separate reasons, are enemies of both the cowboys and the ninjas. The cowboys and the ninjas both set out to kill this group of men to set an end to their personal problems. Coincidentally, the cowboys and the ninjas both plan the attacks on their enemy for the same night. The ninjas have devised a well thought out plan to silently eliminate the men causing them trouble. The cowboys however, have their shotguns and revolvers loaded and are ready to go in guns blazin'.  
 
The cowboys run up to the cabin where their enemy is hiding while firing their guns off in the air as a message that the cowboys are here to kill them. However the cowboys were unaware that this group of men had a trap door inside their cabin which they use to escape underground. While the men are escaping, they also notice a ninja in hiding which they shoot and kill. The ninjas come out of the bushes and from the roof of the cabin where they were hiding and start arguing with the cowboys for ruining their plan. 
 
 They soon go inside the cabin and find their fallen brother. They vow revenge on the cowboys and step outside to fight them. However once outside, they see the cowboys have already taken off on their horses. Thus commences the building of each group's respective army and the game of cat and mouse which takes place throughout the story.

Cowboys and Samurai! 

 The year is 1873. Emperor Meiji has outlawed the samurai. However, young Kazuma (the last samurai) will have nothing of this, and flees the country. He soon arrives in Mexico, at which point he teams up with Clint Wayne (a veteran cowboy/gunslinger) in a quest to prevent the Mexican Army from invading the United States. Many adventures ensue along the way, some of which include clearing Wayne's name (he was framed for various crimes during the Civil War), and some of which involve Meiji's ninjas sent out to assassinate Kazuma. But all of them involve ACTION!  "

Before Columbus, Vikings walked the shores of North America. Settling in what is now Canada one group of Vikings migrates down the East Coast and turns West into what is now Wyoming.  A large group settles and grows intermarrying with the indigenous people. Some groups of Native Americans follow the Norsemen as "pale spirits" believing they have power over man and nature. The group prospers in secret retaining their heritage and skills.

Cowboys & Robots

The story begins in the far flung future where computers have taken over mankind.   All that is left of the human race and what they were are robots called Synthetics, created by the main system of computers known as the Mainframe to look like humans and enact the downfall of human kind as a sort of entertainment.   Enter a Synthetic simply called Clint, created one evening only to have a planned destruction the next morning in one of the entertainment sessions.   That evening, though, an electrically storm causes a shortage in Clint’s systems and old western films, backed-up on a secret file on the Mainframe, are downloaded into Clint’s memory bank.   Clint now believes he is a cowboy and escapes the confines of the computer world to travel out to the desert, one of the only places where the Mainframe has not reached.   The Mainframe, wishing to study Clint’s memory bank in hopes of improving its security systems, sends a small robot army to capture Clint.   It is now up to a robot who thinks it’s a cowboy and a long lost group of human resistance, who have converted back to a life of the old west, to stop the Mainframe from succeeding and maybe finding a way for humans to regain a hold on Earth.

Cowboys & The Evil Dead

The Superheroes of the old west vs the Super villains of the old west 
 
the world is set up with vigilante cowboys dressed up in outfits with no real powers other then what they skill in. full of wanna-be's and real ones meshed up,There'd be; 
  The Heros:
Shotgun superhero. fat, balding, day job as a bartender. just blows through Sh@t. 2 shotguns? 1 big one? the lots
 genuine Leader. brave but alittle to courageous for his own good. wears cape, carries single revolver. and rifle.
Gogo Girl, some club dancer. double pistol. thin mask covering only eyes. tired of being womanized her whole life in the west, now making a name.  
and Finally we have an "Hawkman-like" Indian who bares bow and arrow with a couple rambo knifes. teenager. parents disagree working with the white man. 
 
The Villains:
Obviously the Dynamite Villain. insane would be to easy, make him an Rich man from the oil biz. use dynamite to find oil, now to blow up the cowboys.  
Next is; The Drunk, bearded,alcoholic gambler. uses sly tricks and traps to win a fight. always out of range and drinking a bottle of scotch.  
The circus ringmaster. whip. lion. midget partner....Hell yeah...enough said. 
and then we have The dark, slim eye, play it cool, not alot of words, kinda guy. fast draw. shady looking.  maybe got one arm..or an big nasty scar. something wrong.  
 
The Universe: 
It could be now. set 2011. the technology and science never developed cause of these hero vs villain fights. no real national police but it's getting better. every kid wants to grow up and be a hero but alot die, finding it is real "true grit!" (that movie was sweet lol) some technology has been progressed but not much and in alot of different ways. the world is split by violence, well any chance a newer future has, it gets rubbed out. this could be like medieval had the dark ages, and this could be another new one; The Rough ages.  
 
or something cheesy like that!  

Cowboys and HELL
A group of  ruthless cowboy outlaws who go where they please encounter a Native American Shaman/Witch who is the guardian of a wormhole to hell, and is the only thing keeping all hell from breaking lose.  Prohibiting the gang from going any further he is ruthlessly gunned down thus allowing all of hell to be released! Now they must gather their complete gang and save the world or it will be hell on Earth!

In a desolate place out west, pass the rock and a hard spot. Lies a town where law is control by the sound of a gun. Cowboys, outlaws, and bounty hunters rule the days, from sun set to sun down, where carrying a big gun and shooting straight was all that matters. Till one day a group of outsiders wondered in and challenged the entire town. They know no fear, they fear no man and they where a bunch of Yellow Belly Sneetches. One cowboy will stand and not rest till every single Yellow Belly Sneetch is dead. For this town belongs to cowboys not some Yellow Belly Sneetches!

Cowboys and Villains

It's almost a normal night in Gotham. The streets are raging with sirens. The sounds of faint screams and gunfire can be made out. "Where is Batman?" is plastered on the headline of the latest issue of The Gotham Gazette. The paper blows from the wind down the dark lonely alley, but is stopped by a gentle tap from a steel armor boot. "It took a couple of days, but I finally got what you asked for Mr. Boss Man Sirrr...". Says a soft playful voice emanating from the other side of Crime Alley.  "Great job, now we're only 3 days behind, while you were out doing God knows what, Gotham and Metropolis has been burning.". "Lex, sweetheart, we both know flattery will get you NO WHERE.. AHAHAHA" Shouts Joker as he walks toward the now frowning man in green armor. "Ok, now Lexy Boy!, I did my part and got the ol' gang back together". *Turns to reveal a band of villains standing behind him, all in the group include Bane, Poison Ivy, Red Hood, Scarlet, Mr. Freeze, and Killer Croc.* "Now... tell me, did you do your part?" says Joker sarcastically as he makes a low grin. "Like I said, Ive been done for 3 days now, I will no longer,,,, accept further delays!" Lex Luthor, snarls as he pulls the cover off of a small third-rate time machine platform that looks like something that came from a crappy 80's movie. "So the plan, what is it?". Whispers Red Hood as he watches a blimp on fire crash somewhere off in the distance. "As you all know, after Superman surprisingly failed to stop Doomsday, it didn't take much time for him to kill your precious Batman... and friends....".Winks Lex to Red Hood. "Watch it, freak!" Roars Red Hood as he pulls his guns out of their holsters. "Boys, BOYS, save the pissing contest for later ok?,....after we go back in time, and make sure this time Doomsday is stopped in Metropolis, we'll ALL be safe, and then, and only then will you guys have the chance to tear each other limb from limb, but for now... Shall We?" Poison Ivy positions herself towards the platform.*The wary group steps on the platform unsure of their future*. "Ok, so if my calculations are correct.... we'll be in Metropolis the day before... Doomsday's initial unearthing" *Lex Luthor starts the Time Machine* In a flash, they are no longer in Gotham. They look around only to find themselves in a hot sticky dessert. "Well, this must be  embarrassing". Joker smirks. "Hold It Rite There!... I'm Deputy Colt from Pine Rock County, and I demand to know, who you are and where you came from!" Says a man on a horse pointing a LeMat Revolver. His eyes are wide with fright and anger. His cloths are old and tattered. A second later, almost as if on que. A small army appears behind him. "Were not in Kansas anymore friends!". Joker laughs. As the Villains form in Battle Formation behind him.

Cowboys and the Route of Evil
A rumour spreads amongst the Old West of a treasure buried deep beneath the Earth, inside a mysterious place known only as Tek. In order to enter Tek, each man must forsake a part of their humanity, be it the leaving of a loved one, the murder of a pet, the sacrifice of integrity, etc...
As each man casts aside a piece of themselves, they are shown entrance Tek; through an underground cavern system. Soon, the contestants realise that with each piece of their humanity that they cast aside, their chances of finding the treasure improve. They begin to attack eachother; their horses move faster. A man renounces his God; his pistols only fire true.

Soon, the surviving Cowboys navigate Tek and approach the treasure. There, they encountered vast insurmountable gold and jewels; beyond their wildest imagining. As they indulge themselves, a woman in a hooded cloak appears before them. She announces herself as Aequitas; the personification of Justice. The men had been lured to Tek, actually Tartarus, for the misdeeds they had committed in Aequitas' name.

The man who left his wife; had killed a barman for flirting with her. The man who murdered his pet had stolen that same creature from a man who he believed cheated him at cards. The man who renounced his God had beaten a preacher from another religion. The Old West had become a cesspool of immorality disguised as nobility; of viciousness disguised as honor; a time of murder disguised as Justice.
All had committed atrocities, all had done so believing them to be just. Aequitas condemns the men for using her name blindly as a defence, and yet spitting on it the second it was no longer of any use.

Aequitas leaves the men to their riches, and walks into the shadows. One of the men shouts: "So that's it then? You're just gonna leave? We're off the hook?"
The treasure of Tek then morphs into fire, and the men burn in the Hell of their own making.

Set int he early 1800's, a group of miner's hoping to cash in on the gold rush dig too far. They unknowingly unleash a group of dragons, having survived for centurys underground in a cave system. Hot lead, and scorching fire will clash in this multi-genre comic.

I know almost nothing on these characters other than what I could find scouring the net, plus it seems the movie is going to be in it's 'own world' compared to the book so I just mashed togethor a little bit of everything from what I found.

COWBOYS AND DEMONS-

 Set in the old west, a skilled cowboy known only as "Jack" leads a violent gang of criminals across America, working for a powerful crime empire known as "The Black Revolver", composed of corrupt sheriffs, cowboys, and wealthy men. Jack's gang carries out missions for two things: money and fame. Jack, however, does not care for either. The Black Revolver threatens his son, who is actually mentally ill in reality, but is seen as possessed by a demon by all, including Jack. While Jack loves his son, he also fears him, seeing that he believes a demon lurks in him. But perhaps the demon is actually in Jack.  Jack comes from a tormented childhood, filled with betrayal and pain. Jack's wife, the only thing that made him feel love for life,  died under mysterious causes, forcing Jack into a constant mood of sadness and anger. Jack only lives to protect and raise his son. One day, Jack is promised a "final job", and that the empire will give him and his son freedom if he completes it. Jack and his gang is instructed to find and enter a rumored "lost city" out somewhere in the desert,  and recover a mysterious amulet for the Black Revolver. Unknown to Jack and his crew, this city is lost for a reason- a violent massacre occurred. One which is said to have been done by evil "demons". If Jack wants his and his son's freedom, he will have to enter the city, and battle these demons....though the greatest battle might be against his own demons. "
