COWBOY NINJA VIKING Movie Moves Forward

Schizophrenic assassins on the big screen? Sounds good.

COWBOY NINJA VIKING from Image Comics gave us something different. Written by A.J. Lieberman with art by Riley Rossmo, the series focused on a government agency recruiting patients with Multiple Personality Disorder and training them to be assassins. As members of the Triplets, each member had three different fighting styles. The main character, Duncan, obviously had the personalities of a cowboy, a ninja and a viking.

Yesterday Deadline announced that Universal Pictures as acquired the rights and has announced Marc Forster as the director. The script will be by Zombieland writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. Originally Disney was interested by it was thought to be too edgy for them. As soon as Forster completes the Brad Pitt World War Z for Paramount, he will move to Cowboy Ninja Viking. The hope is to develop this into a franchise.

We got in touch with writer A.J. Lieberman to get this thoughts on this announcement.

I'm super excited and Marc is a great director and it's certainly the next (big) step in getting the book made into a movie.

We'll have to stay tuned to find out more.
